Michael Giacchino WILL score The Batman

My biggest concern is Giacchino's unwillingness to go all in. He has these really good power motifs but he always kneecaps them just when they get really good then plunges down to some low energy motif. It always leaves me with a case of auditory blueballs. He does it in that bit of recording session he tweeted so I dont have a lot of hope that he has broken that infuriating habit.
I like that personally. It gives a sense of unfinished business.

The New theme sounds intresting for sure.
Looking forward to this

*cue my ear-piercing shrieking*

This is as useful as the image of a glass of water for a thirsty man in the desert.
I am that thirsty man.

Give me audio snippet. Please M.Giacchino.

Even just a timpani hit would do.

What we've heard so far sounds very... I think aggressive is the best way to describe it. It has the operatic color of Elfman or Shirley Walker (more so Walker) but with the minimalism of Zimmer.

My thoughts exactly. It's not as intricate and 'Williams-esque' of a theme as I would've expected from Giacchino, but I like the direction he's going in so far. Granted, we've only heard that one motif though, so who's to say what the rest of the score will sound like.

The 5:1 audio mix of the main trailer finally came out so I was finally able to extract the music from it. Did the best I could with it and I'm pretty satisfied with it.

I need this soundtrack in my veins.

Where can the 5:1 version be found?

Feels like the right kind of energy for the film.

I’m hoping we get the hear the full soundtrack at least sometime in February.

Only BvS theme is worst than this. Boring and repeatable. I can't believe that poeple really like it.

This track is a joke compared to Shirley Walker's theme.

I just want the full theme available for purchase. I can wait until after the movie for the rest, but gimme that theme.

The basic melody is obviously pretty simple. But how it's implemented via its instrumentation is everything BvS' theme was not.

BvS' theme mostly just used drums, brass and french horns which unironically just made it sound like the Hans Zimmer "BWAAAAA" meme

But by mostly keeping this theme to piano and more Elfman-esque trombones, it becomes infinitely more gothic, emotional and memorable. That's the difference between this and BvS, despite both using a relatively simple melody

Yeah, that's why I said it's better than BvS, but it's still nothing special. It's not even in the same category as Zimmer's theme for TDK. THIS is emotional and rich in sound. Not just the same melody that becomes annoying after few mintues.

Molossus is a track meant for a car chase and Zimmer (to his detriment) didn't really return to the melodies he used in Begins. You can't really compare a 5 minute track intended for an action scene with the fairly brief snippets we've heard of The Batman's theme. The best you can do is essentially compare Giacchino's melody with the first 10 seconds of this, as it's more or less Batman's melody in TDK trilogy.

And imo, Giacchino's theme is better.

And imo is not.

For me, what makes this theme special is that is simple while strong enough to leave a mark on your head. It even reminds me of BvS one, which I liked too, but here is much more epic imo.
