I don't think Cavill is a great actor but I do generally find him better in most of the stuff I've seen him in outside of the DCEU movies. He could be a much better Superman with some good direction and writing.

It's partly the character. It's easier to be memorable playing a snarky dude like in A Man from U.N.C.L.E or - I'm assuming - badass, cunning agent here than a good, kind hero. Villains and witty characters are usually more memorable. When they finally let him have lighter moments in Justice League he was excellent, didn't even need good direction and writing just more fitting tone

Yeah, Cavill shouldn't get any of the blame for Supes. That's all on Snyder's vision and the writing.

Ooo Imagine Dragons are back! They killed me with the WW trailer. Maybe They should be the new Kanye and all trailers have their songs.

Also if I remember correctly "I'm So Sorry" in awesome Legend trailer was theirs.

They kinda are new Kanye :) The only terrible use of their music was in Orient Express trailer

I don't see signs of any elaborate heist, which is a classic set-piece in the franchise. Kinda worried about it, since it is one of the most interesting things about M:I.

Maybe the heist was how the plutonium went missing in the first place? IMF and the Syndicate both rushing/competing for the same warheads, Ethan ****ed up and the bad guys got away with it in-hand?

We still really have no idea what the exact plot is for this movie.

They're at some concert where Cruise meets Vanessa Kirby's character and they have enter a room with alot of weapons

I don't know about an elaborate heist, but that climbing scene seems to indicate that Ethan is breaking into somewhere.

Well, that helicopter is carrying something huge, so maybe stealing that is part of the heist?

Imagine Dragons songs seem to work really well in action movie trailers. Also I'm curious to see who Vanessa Kirby's character ends up being. Also we didn't see Sian Brooks in the trailer at all, so I'm curious about her as well.

It's interesting they seem to be deconstructing Ethan. The last movie was much about Ethan being a living, unstoppable weapon who can't die and this movie seems to suggest maybe after all the times they turned against him, this might actually break him. Talk about a franchise and character that became better and interesting the more it went on, which is so incredibly rare in film franchises. Usually it's the opposite.

Yeah, I agree. The last two films were spectacular and Cruise just gets better and better in each one. Even in the much maligned M:I2, Cruise felt more natural than he did in the first one, and we got to see that Ethan is pretty much a super soldier.

At least each installment carries the stamp of each director. Something that doesn't usually happen.

Agreed.

And I ****ing love M:I 2.

I don't hate M:I-2, but I do find it to be the weakest of the bunch. However, after that, I feel like this franchise has just gotten better with every installment. Can't say that about any other franchise I can think of, tbh.

Since MI III, this has become a real event series.
I never imagined that we would make it to 6!

He looks like a ****ing beast.

I can't remember where it was, but I was listening to a trailer breakdown where the host mentioned
"A scene where Henry Cavill and Tom Cruise beat up some poor fool in a bathroom".
That made me laugh pretty hard!

Yeah, 2's awesomely fun in that hyper-stylized Woo way. It's definitely the black sheep of the bunch though, in terms of fitting in with the others. It's way more "Face/Off or Broken Arrow, featuring Ethan Hunt!", but really fun.

So over the top, and that final throwdown on the beach is pretty damn brutal. Some of the arty photography and use of music is pretty interesting too, has a whole other feel to the others. Even though there's a definite director stamp on all of the Bad Robot films, they all do feel linked in a way tonally. First two are just their own things completely.
