Not gonna lie, I hope this is the last movie.

The way this movie is being described, it seems like a good place to end the franchise before Tom gets too old.

Problem with that is a couple of things. If this one makes money as the previous films have done, Paramount will green light another one. And this franchise and the Transformers franchise/ Hasbro are the only IP's they could turn out cinematic universe or sequels.

Maybe make Cruise the head of the IMF in future films?

I am a diehard fan of the show.
The Phelps twist didn't bother me at all.

I was like six years old when the movie came out and had no idea about the series, so certainly didn't bother me either (still doesn't). I get why it would for fans though.

If Fast & Furious can get to 10, then this franchise deserve it and then some.

F&F has outstayed it's welcome for me, but I would gladly take several more installments of this franchise if they're even close to the level of quality the last two have been.

I always get hyped for an F&F film and they always cause me to face palm. I'd much rather the Rock, Statham and Kurt Russell where menacing Ethan Hunt instead.

I want this to go on for so long that someday I get to see Cruise push his wheelchair out of a cargo plane or something.

He's going to outlive us all. He's probably on the Count of St Germain diet.

Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation are my top two spy/action films of the past few years. Hands down.

Vanessa Kirby added to the cast. She's fantastic on The Crown.

“The Crown” actress Vanessa Kirby is final talks for one of the new leads in Paramount and Skydance’s next installment in the “Mission: Impossible” film franchise starring Tom Cruise.
Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner are also expected to return, though it’s unknown in what capacity.
Christopher McQuarrie, who directed “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation,” is back to direct this sixth film from a script he wrote.

Details behind who Kirby will play as well as the plot for the latest pic are unknown at this time. The role is expected to be on the same level as Ferguson’s in the last pic. Cruise and execs had begun meeting with talent for the role earlier in month as the film is expected to shoot this spring.

Hope Rebecca ferguson is back for this one as well.

Oh I hope that we're not getting a "female characters are interchangeable" situation here. Don't let me down McQuarrie.

We need a female villain that prompts Maggie Q, Thandie Newton, Paula Patton and Rebecca ferguson to return.

True, and I've been keen on the idea of a female main villain for awhile now.

I like the Vanessa Kirby casting.

Kirby was good in British science fiction horror movie Kill Command

She's back and I'm hoping it's another sizeable role.

Glad to see Rebecca Ferguson is back. When I saw that a new female lead had been cast, I was worried they were doing the usual "out with the old, in with the new" thing film series have done with female characters for decades.

Well, most movies take their cues from James Bond in regards to love interests in sequels. When they do carry a chick over from a prior movie, it's a shock. I know the implication is that he basically got some booty and went on his merry way. :o

Yeah, but I think that trope needs to change. It works in Bond films because he's supposed to be a womanizer but Ethan Hunt is a bit different. Plus, he got married in one of the movies, even though that's more or less been forgotten now, I guess. Regardless though, even though Hunt has what appears to be romantic chemistry with Ferguson's character, they never actually hook up, and I honestly don't think they need to. Female leads can do more than just hook up with male leads, and that's what they should continue doing with her.

Hunt has been characterized as a guy who puts his team, and friends, before himself. Even to the point where he trusts people who might kill him. Had the relationship between himself Faust been romantic, it would have taken away from that characterization. I think that Julia was his one and only.

Including this series. She'll be the first recurring female (not counting the cameo by Hunt's wife in the 4th movie).

There's no indication of that so far. His wife cameoed in the 4th movie and it was explained why they aren't around each other all the time.
