Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol - Part 1

I thought the villain going almost all solo was cool But I agree he was a lacking cinematic villain,The film itself I can't agree at all that it was just ok and not memorable!!

The villains I can agree were"ok, but nothing all that memorable and lacking a cinematic villain"!

I thought the film brought the goods/the closest to the TV show and overall the best in the series..And I love ALL 3 other MI's!!!!

Mission: Impossible III.

Ang Lee was considered to direct, with a plot centered on Ethan Hunt and his team chasing after an ex-girlfriend of Ethan that was destroying the Seven World Wonders in order to attract his attention, causing tensions between China and Russia that could escalate into World War III. This was intented as a prequel to Mission: Impossible and would bring back Emilio Estevez as IMF technician Jack Harmon, but the idea was dropped. This Script included a scene with a small aircraft crashing into the Statue of Liberty.

That sounds terrible. I like Emilio Estevez but he wouldn't look young enough to pull off a prequel to this.

Also Ving Rhames holding out for money is ridiculous. His career is mostly straight to video unfortunately.

I'm not really a fan of the MI movies, kind of like the Bond films they just rely on fancy high tech gadgets, mind blowing stunt work and Tom Cruise running a lot with very little character development which is fine if you're not expecting much, I mean this will make lots of money just because Cruise is in it.

I think the most I don't like is that it's always Ethan Hunt leading the team and in each movie there are always new members who we know little about so it doesn't matter if they survive cause they can always get a new team assembled.

Case in point is when Tom Wilkinson's character gets shot dead and supposedly both he and Ethan Hunt had a history together and yet we as the audience are supposed to feel pity, uuhhh where was he in the other MI movies?

I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Well the action and set pieces in this movie made it great to watch. The villain and the plot was just standard issue which I'm fine with this time but I hope the next installment something better is written. Glad that they gave some kind of resolution to Julia in the movie. Yea, she's being written out but at least its something.

Tom Wilkinson was just Mr. Exposition. I don't think he was meant to be cared for.

He died in the trailer anyway.

Nolan's the best director going, probably along with David Fincher, so of course he'd be brought up. Neither is likely at this point to direct a Mission:Impossible (though Sam Mendes is directing a BOND)

saw this movie last night in imax. Super awesome. Great stunts, locales, explosions, and tom cruise running around is exactly what I wanted.

Not a perfect film, but it was a lot of fun. Brad Bird really gave the franchise a shot-in-the-arm. High stakes, but still light and airy. Tom Cruise still brings it, and this was definitely the best team Hunt's ever had around him. Everything Simon Pegg does is gold, and Paula Patton was hot and believably tough.

I like Jeremy Renner, but I didn't love Brandt. It kinda felt like they didn't know what to do with him. He wasn't entirely nerdy analyst comic relief, but they tried to play that aspect of him up, even after his field history was revealed. And then, the attempt at giving him pathos kinda fell flat. Flat's a good word for his entire character, really.

I was kinda hoping he wouldn't pick up that cell phone at the end, honestly. Though I did enjoy Monaghan's brief cameo, predictable as it was.

Overall, good action with some amazing stunt work, good fun. Much better choice this weekend than Sherlock Holmes.

I enjoyed the tone and the score to this movie so much, it has me going back to watch the first two seasons of the original tv series, which isn't too bad by the way!

I never saw the tv show so it's nice to see where all of the history of the movies got its material and motifs from.

Loved the music in this movie, Giacchino really did a spectacular job. Especially when they were in Russia.

My only gripes were some ill timed humor, the rich guy in India who was just completely over the top, and that drop from the parking structure. I don't care how big that air bag is if you drive a car straight into the ground like that you're not getting out of the car fully functioning right after.

Agreed with everything you said about having to make an decision even though it was impulsive and dangerous, allowance of unrealistic events, and mentioning when Ethan was getting back into the building in Dubai.

During the movie I never gave that scene a second thought(Getting back into the building in Dubai) but something about that car scene just took me out of it and had me saying "********!". The fact the car was unlocked, the car started, and he got out of the car shortly after still functioning at all.

Anyways, enough of that. One scene out of many in a movie that had me thoroughly entertained didn't stop me from enjoying it. I'd say it's easily the best Mission Impossible film.
