Morpheus: Matrix TV Show -- You Thoughts?

Oh, to accurately answer the initial questions.

1) I would be extremely excited about a Morpheus TV show. I would be very hesitant about the introduction of Trinity, because at that point, imho, the series should be wrapping up, and it may be tempted to continue into pointlessness, like Smallville. I'd be excited about a Matrix series centering on Morpheus and some new characters, his contemporaries, as long as Trinity were not in the equation.

2) Obviously I'd like to see the Locke/Niobe/Morpheus thing play out over several seasons. If I recall correctly, Lock doesn't have a plug, and thus, if serving on a ship, would be the operator or perhaps a mechanic like Dozer. I think having those three on the same ship would be incredible. I picture Morpheus doing something very horrible in pursuit of his destiny that drives Niobe away, and leaves her away, perhaps even as a rival at that point.

I'd like to see switch and Apoc discovered before Trinity and shown how cool they are, how they get together/how in love they are, and all that good stuff.

I'd like to see the other Agents as competent threats as opposed to just Smith's sidekicks. Perhaps they have outstanding teamwork, not unlike the Albino twins, perhaps they have their own computery attitudes, one asking rhetorical/sarcastic questions, the other speaking to the humans like small children, inferior in every way, to be patronized at best and disciplined at worst?

I'd like to NOT paint whatever that traitor's name from the first matrix was as an evil judas from the start. Having him be sarcastic or whatever is fine, but even Smallville's Luthor was too evil for my taste. Having a character suddenly give in later makes for much more tragedy than having a slow build to 'oh, of course he's evil now'

I'd like to see the contrast between Morpheus' Oracle/One-based religion be contrasted with the science of other characters in a smart and subtle, but clear fashion... perhaps giving him a mentor in this. At the end of the day, Morpheus is a religious man, while he is surrounded by people who are not... that has to come out. No one else is following their Oracle-mission like he is, are they?

Also, speaking of which, I'd like to see how the Oracle missions work together and illustrate how she's basically pulling strings on all the humans to make things work out. And how the Oracle isn't always as philanthropic as she can seem sometimes. Why do they trust her in the first place?

Basically, there are plenty things to establish. A mystery about the original origin of the Matrix, already spelled out in Animatrix, is not among the most consequential.

3) No Network preference personally... NBC is fine.

I do have personal curiosity now... how did you get in contact with these folks to have them even look over your script, much less consider producing it?

Lots and lots of pestering. And E-Mails. And pestering. With coffee. I mentioned pestering right? :whatever:

Oh and YAY FOR THE END(?) OF THE STRIKE! Bad news is that I cannot press anything further until I come back from my convention trip.

Anyhow, I got some nice responses to keep in mind, such as Cypher's betrayal and the Oracle. Although I factored them in anyhow, I have thought about them more and well...interesting stuff came about.

Now, I came back because there is one more "safe" thing I can talk about. Well, two kind of. I thought I would first post a short biography treatment of one of the ship crew members and other bits of info.

Lets start off my my most favorite creation of all....Jeeves!

Jeeves is the real world Operator of the Maitreya, charged with maintaining the ship's computers, piloting when there is no pilot and being the eye in the sky when the rest of the crew is jacked in. He has formed with in Zion his own guild called "Operator's Anonymous" were all the Operators hang out in an abandoned engine room and talk about operations, programming, and random endeavors.

Jeeves when back in Zion looks over and helps other Operators in training, thus skills and quirks....both good and bad are often passed on to his "disciples".

In the real world, Jeeves is physically a dwarf, estimated around 4'8" in height. Though small in size, his neural kinetics are way beyond the average free mind and he can understand complex situations in relatively little time. His programming knowledge, the speed that he hacks along with amazing detective work makes his operational skills legendary in Zion and the Matrix. That and his own brand of hallucinogens and moonshine.

He has been in service for 18 years now, an amazingly long life for a Hovercraft Platoon. When plugged in, his avatar unlike most unplugged is that of a very, tall, muscular balled headed brute. A form that Captain Yahya says "is a malevolent demon that eats Navy SEALS for breakfast and craps grenades at brunch." This form is revealed when Jeeves plugs in to duel with Morpheus in his initial training. It is later on (on the constant request of Yahya) revealed during the Agent Training program on why he is forced to remain in the Real World.

Jeeves use to be the brute force commando in Yahya's old crew when they were alive, having the ability to somehow modify his RSI to his will. During a skirmish with the feds at a government compound, the group ran into Agents and he made it his duty to hold them off while the others escaped. When it was his turn to go, he calculated a high stakes move were he flooded the facility to destroy all traces while jacking out in a unaccessible room enforced by Bullet Proof glass. The Agent who was following him, unable to engage him directly, decided to shoot the power lines electrocuting itself and mainly Jeeves as he was jacking out, causing him to have a major seizure in the real world.

Because of the trauma, his brain jack has been physically damaged and can no longer interface properly with the Matrix simulation. He is only allowed in controlled environments such as simulation programs, if he tried to jack into the Matrix he would suffer brain damage until his cerebrum would turn to mush. Thus Jeeves carries emotional baggage: Not only because he can no longer fight with the rest of his crew members, but because in the Matrix he was the tough, good looking bad boy and now he is forced to deal with and accept the reality that is his dwarfism as well as the harsh realities of the real world.

His best relationship is with Captain Yahya, who claims he freed him from the Matrix when he was in middle school...although details are shaky at best. More about his past, parentage and the explanation for his high neural kinetics will be revealed as time goes on. His next best friend and "partner in crime" would be ESC, an operator (and co-founder of Operator's Anonymous) who is currently serving on board the Theseus.

At first, Jeeves thinks the new crew is not at all up to snuff with the other Zion military and is often concern of their safty, also pointing out their screw ups when ever he gets the chance. It is times like these were he displays his own brand of irascible sarcasm. Over time though, just like with the past crews of the , he becomes the glue that holds the ship together and is more like everybody's uncle than a Operator.

Jeeves' pastimes includes reading dime store detective novels archived in the Zion Mainframe, indulging in (and programming) Training programs, knitting and making prank phone calls over secure lines in the Matrix. His favorite thing in the world is to cause the Agents in the Matrix disorder and he hates having to repeat statements or explain himself. In the logical world of the Matrix, he is a skeptic relativist. His favorite simulation program is one he wrote himself...a sand box world were he is as tall as the Empire State Building and causes Godzilla like rampages in a simulated city.

Whew, that was a lot! But I think without spoiling, you get the idea for what kind of character this man is. I think the original "He is like..." pitch was a combination of Rubeus Hagrid, Penn Jillette and Strong Bad from Homestar Runner.

One last thing. Since revealing about character's histories even for a bit would have major spoilers and would not "seal the deal"...I thought I could give you a good sense of my pitch for the _ crew by listing the Weapons and Military Positions of the crew members. I think you can tell a lot about people with what guns they carry...or at least I can.
