Mortal Kombat: Legacy - Part 2

Shouldn't be too difficult, with the right script. So hopefully they got someone better for the Movie. The first MK was what, around 90 minutes long? It did a good job of introducing the heroes and their motivations. Maybe add another 10+ minutes, and you can flesh out the villains as well. Someone like Scorpion, wouldn't need much in my opinion. I'd give him a flashback scene while he meditates like this season, where you see him, his family and entire clan murdered, and that's all you need to know about what drives him.

I'd definitely try to keep the number of tournament fighters low. At least when it comes to the important characters. But maybe add a few that, in the grand scheme of things, are expandable. Like Baraka. To me, he's kill off material.

They'll have to keep the number of fighters low for sure.

And I'm talking about actually trying to make this a good film, not just a good action film. The first Mortal Kombat was a horrible movie. Don't get me wrong, I still love it because I watched it when I was 6 and thought it was awesome, but it's pretty terrible. I'd like to see a good video game film for once.

What the...

Sorry man, when you put nostalgia factor aside, it was a bad movie. It's not exactly a new opinion. It had bad acting, the SFX were okay, and almost no plot to speak of.

The one thing I like about this new series is that they're actually trying to get some character development into this. However, if they want to push this beyond being just a good action movie, they need to work more on their script writing.

Like I said, for once I would really like to see a video game movie that's actually a good movie.

What was that $#%^? :cmad:
Hearing Kuai dies first, I hoped Bi-Han would live, but he dies too? And by his own Fatality?

Yeah, some weird stuff happens in the web series. But I'm a lot more forgiving, knowing that the Movie will be its own thing, with a completely new continuity. Let them experiment now, before they do it in the Movie.

I hope they make it more entertaining in the movie

And apparently it's hard to stay dead in this world. Scorpion's back, Kenshi is apparently a couple thousand years old, etc. So who knows, maybe Sub-Zero could come back.

Also, was anyone else not a fan of Zero's costume?

I was less of a fan of Scorpion's outfit
Sub-Zero's outfit looks like that guy from Virtua Fighter, so it's ok by me

I was just confused why his looked so modern. Has Sub-Zero been alive for a couple hundred years too?

It looks like they lived so long
But darn, if they do resurrect him, or rather when they do it, Bi-Han will be the servant of Quan Chi

I thought it was okey, nothing special though.
I wonder why they decided to have them speak english in the japan scenes, and even redubbing the flashbacks into english as well? That was bad.
I totally hated Bi Hans costume as well.

Hated Sub-Zero since the first released picture. I get the idea behind it. Lin Kuei are all about modernizing. Going so far, as to turn their members into Cyborgs. Modern day Ninjas, wouldn't run around as they do in the game. Ninjas are all about using the newest tech, and the most efficient weaponry available. Ninjas were used for spy work and assassination. So any modern spy is basically a Ninja. Anyway, I get the idea, but the execution was lacking. He basically looks like they just slapped some motocross and paintball gear on him.

If they would have had a proper budget, I'm pretty sure Sub-Zero would have looked like Snake Eyes.

But I loved Scorpion's outfit. Him and Shang Tsung had easily the best designs. I like that they keep it low key with Scorpion. He's a traditional Ninja and he died in his uniform. He doesn't strike me as the guy with a fashion sense. So I am incredibly glad he doesn't look as busy and over the top as in the latest game.

If I had my way, I'd make him look old school to the max.

I agree, something along the lines of Snake Eyes would have been a lot better.

Agreed. When I first saw Sub-Zero, I couldn't help but think he looked like he had motorcross gear on.

But seriously, how the hell did Bi-Han live that long?

The motocross gear worked back then, but nowadays it doesn't cut it. Especially when you make the suit look like a jumbled mess.

You know, with this new take on Mortal Kombat, where a tournament takes place every 10 years, maybe Kenshi and Sub-Zero did live for hundreds of years. And they simply won each time and got granted immortality, so they could participate in the next tournament. It wouldn't be too different from the normal MK continuity. I think in the normal MK continuity, Kung Lao's ancestor won the tournament several times as well, until they eventually brought Goro to the tournament and then won 9 in a row.

But that still wouldn't explain why it took several hundred years for Scorpion to finally confront Sub-Zero. So did Quan Chi and Shand Tsung recruit Scorpion, only to have him sit on a bench while Sub-Zero keeps winning the MK tournament? It just makes no sense! >_<

Wouldn't it be funny if during production someone asked Tanchaoren (?) about these things and he just said "Ah don't worry about it, no one is gonna notice or care about these details."

That very well could be the case.

But the thing is, when they approach the film, they're going to have to come up with explanations for things like these.

What causes a lot of problems, is that they threw Scorpion and Sub-Zero into feudal Japan, when both are actually modern day Ninjas. In Sub-Zero's bio it even states that their father was a secrete operative in the United States. He has two sons with an american woman, and eventually returned to China with both of his sons, and started their training there.

Kenshi is also a present day fighter, though I guess it makes more sense for him to originate from feudal Japan, and come up with an excuse like the sword kept him young or some nonsense like that. I mean, his backstory sounds a bit silly for a modern day scenario.

A born fighter, Kenshi wandered Earthrealm in search of worthy competition. Every time he found an opponent he would defeat him just to boost his pride, but one day, Kenshi encountered a man named Song, who convinced Kenshi that a great warrior needed a great sword. Song led Kenshi to the location of an ancient and powerful sword, and he claimed that the sword would befit Kenshi's power, but as Kenshi unsealed the well wherein the sword supposedly lay, he was overwhelmed by souls trapped within and permanently blinded. Song revealed himself to be none other than the vile sorcerer Shang Tsung and proceeded to absorb the released souls and left Kenshi to die within the tomb. However, the sword, which actually did exist, attracted Kenshi and spoke to him, leading him from the tomb and revealed to him his origin.

That was actually how they explained it in in the 90's series MK Konquest. Whoever the champion(s) of Earthrealm were that won or survived didn't age until the next tournament. They would of course be replaced if they were killed some other way.

Is it me or does the show feel nothing like what was promised in the MK Rebirth trailer that kicked the whole thing off? When I saw that trailer, I was blown away and felt like they were on to something with the realistic take on the origins and felt different. The director of this one really felt like the right guy for it but looking back at what's come, I'm not as convinced. I've seen both seasons and really want to like it since I love the game, but the acting is so bad, the writing is getting laughable, and there's been some really weird decisions made. Stories involving different characters get mashed up into one episode but with nothing to link them. The whole thing just feels haphazard and very different from the tone they were going for from the original pitch

Favorite episodes in this season are Kenshi's and the Kitana vs Mileena ones

Season was a mixed bag. A lot of setup and not a lot of payoff.

Also, it ends with things start happening. I mean we had to wait over two years for thsi season. Who knows when season 3 will happen.

How is this tournament supposed to work anyway? Is it until the last man is standing?

What about Quan Chi? Where is he?

How do they decide who wins the tournament?
