Mortal Kombat was first released on October 8, 1992. Since then it has become known as one of the darkest fighting games on the market. Famed for its mortal competition, fatalities and dark sense of humor, the game has been released on all major consoles, as well as arcade machines. The original development team, now known as NetherRealm Studios, led by creative director Ed Boon, continues to develop the game and build upon the existing success and rich story it has created to date.

The latest chapter of “Mortal Kombat”was released in 2011 by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, marking a triumphant return to the series’ roots in the fastest and most brutal installment to date. The game returned to a mature presentation and reinvented its classic 2D fighting mechanic in addition to adding new gameplay features including tag team, a deeper story mode, and nostalgic arcade battle online and offline. Selling more than three million units worldwide, the reinvention of the franchise became the highest-selling fighting game of the year and won numerous “Best Fighting Game” awards, including Spike TV’s 2011 Video Game Awards, 2012 Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Interactive Achievement Awards, and recognition from Game Informer, Official Xbox Magazine and GameTrailers.com.

Sounds pretty awesome! No word on Jacks or Sonya Blade showing up?

any word on why they had to recast Johnny Cage? i liked the dude from last season. Casper Van Dien is kind of old now to be playing Johnny Cage.

Takagawa returning as Shang tsung....don't know how I feel about this

I wonder if they'll bring back "Techno Syndrome." That would be cool.

Happy is the word you're looking for. :cmad:

Maybe they wanted someone closer to age with Jeri Ryan ? Unless she is getting recast as well ? Since she was one of the biggest complaints about last season. Besides the animation episode

i'm guessing they cast a much older actor for Johnny Cage because they might portray Cage as a much older, past his prime, washed up action star. and he goes into the tournament to prove that he still got it. which is not bad when you think about it, but i always picture Cage as a guy in his 30s, not nearing 50.

Jeri Ryan isn't returning for Season 2. She announced that on her Twitter.

lol maybe she started asking for more money...selfish woman

She did Rebirth for free. Everyone in Rebirth did. I doubt money was the issue here & it looks like that Sonya is not even in Season 2

Yeah, she's not a blonde anymore and probably wouldn't be very good.

Yvonne Strahovski would be good but maybe out of their price range.

my only beef with this is why bring back Takagawa as sung when there trying to distance themselves from those movies and go in a different direction? I can easily find newer up to date actors who could be better. Chow yun fat comes running to mind.
