But there is historical basis for religious persecution of more "pagan"/esoteric practices, ecspecially for the time period.

true but not all christians our like that. I know that's not what he meant just saying i don't like when people get that impression.

the idea behind the religious zealous thing is that religion and specifically christianity viewed anything outside of their sphere as evil. So they persecuted everyone outside of that wicca, druids, witches etc. the people who looked to commune with nature and utilize "magic". During the inquisition, crusades and throughout history the church sought to eradicate this line of thought. So the people who could have fought against the 4 horsemen using "magic" were actually wiped out by the church.

So it's like this the church always looks to God to save them. Well the problem is God gave us the tools to save ourselves, by allowing us to commune with nature, "magic" etc. But because a small group decided God didn't want that they destroyed our only chance of salvation.

I get what your saying. don't necessarily agree but i get it and does sound like it would be an interesting/entertaining read.

Thanks..not a lot of people found that funny...

BTW I know not all christians are zealots...it's just in the past a lot of the ones who were had a lot of power and they were capable of great acts of horror.

A new one I did at work, I've never been happy with the colour work I produce and I'm not a huge fan of the slick colour work of regular comics I like the brush stroke look myself.

So here's an attempt at getting a more "painterly" style using photoshop.

Yeah I know the perspective is off and the buildings kind of suck but hey I was working from a really rough piece. Next time I'm going to do it with cleaner artwork and see how it turns out.

Let me know what you think...crits are totally welcome

I like it. It has a more dynamic and painterly feel. But I would've liked to see the Batman make it to the final.:)

I think it was going to be a Hellboy...but it was just a doodle

Thanks...and I agree the eyes do look to small, an easy fix in photoshop though which is why I like it better than traditional methods.

It has been tough but I found a basic tutorial and then I just experimented from there. I need to get this printed and see how it looks though because on screen at actual size it looks really rough.

I'd try out Corel Painter if you ever get the chance. It looks like traditional methods, although the multitude of brushes and tools can be daunting.

I have corel painter essentials 2 that came with my wacom, but it seems to me that it uses the same brushes that photoshop does and its hard to get used to it when photoshop is so familiar and easy to use

I've never used corel products except CorelDraw and I hate that. Besides I can create any brush I want in photoshop anyway and I'm used to the way the program works.

I think I might have to look into getting a tablet though, doing this with a mouse is a bit like drawing with a brick.

I got a tablet 2 weeks ago,IT ROCKS!..I was so tired of drawing with the mouse...I got one at futurshop for a 100 bucks, and its really good

I was pricing them out today, thinking about it. I take it it's a smaller one, if it was only a hundred...how does it work for bigger pieces of art?

I guess I'll have to get one and see if I like it.

You can get the Wacom at most places for about $99. TigerDirect and Amazon may have them even cheaper. The smaller one works just fine. I have it and have had no problems.

Characters from my Industrial Angel Story...

Famine...Why is he fat you say? Well that's because he devours everything and let's his people starve. He feeds on the life force of others and is basically a hedonist. He's not really up for the war with his siblings and would just prefer to stay on earth and gorge himself on sex, drugs and food.

Here's Plague/Pestilence. Unlike the others his essence doesn't really reside in the human body but an insect host. The body is animated by the insects that live within it and nobody is aware that he is an insect as opposed to a human. He's the runt of the litter and is patronized by most of the others and is expected to be the first to be lost in the coming war between the siblings.

Famine kinda seems a Mojo rip-off. Great drawings thought:up:

Famine looks like a combo of Mojo and Dr.Robotnik a little heh heh

Anyway, great sketches :)

I'd like to see you try this style out on some of your IA work.  Much more impressive than "normal" comic book coloring.
