Rise of the Silver Surfer MUSIC Score and More DISCUSSION

The one problem I had with the score was that, if anything, it was "too heroic" if that's possible. It seemed out of place in combination with the relatively small scope of the actual film.

That scope has always been my biggest problem with the first film, and I expect/hope the next film will make large strides in that area. Hopefully the second film will grow into the theme.

Because he also edits films...:)

As in Superman Returns, X-Men 2 along with several other films.

Well if he had a hand in editing he should be shot along with the editors at Fox. Glad he won't be doing it again, however, I have no problem with him doing the score. He did a good job on the 1st one..

I'm confused. I thought his editing on X-Men 2 and Superman Returns was really good (even though I didn't like SR on the whole). Why should he be shot?

I liked the scores for both X2 and SR. Both have cool main themes.

I give a thumbs up

He's not the one that needs to be shot.

give him hell time be good. his superman score was fantastic. he needs to go with a more loud, bombastic, ya know pump up heroic score for ff2 then he gave the original, which sounded generic at best.

He didn't edit in the first FF movie...only Hoy.

And please explain exactly in what areas of Superman Returns was their bad editing. I'm looking forward to this explanation.....

Despite his 100+ posts in the SR section he hasn't actually seen it to give you an answer......im sure you're not shocked:D

BTW is the ediitng all Hoy's fault or the fact Fox wanted it cut down to make it shorter tie his hands ?

Regardless of who is the real culprit, let's hope that someohow that editing disaster is not repeated with this sequel.

Hoping "300" takes all of Hoy's time and energy....and he has none for FF 2.

Well in fairness to him the 300 footage he edited for comic con got the best response of the show and apparently looks awesome

With FOX I usually find no matter who edits the movie, FOX always want things done their way, making editing one hell of a job.
Not the easiest way to do your job.

WELL SAID.

No matter even if you get the best editor FOX will screw it up. :down

I don't expect F4-2 to have great character development or story except i want awesome SFX and action scenes and some good comedy. If i get that i will be very happy.

If that is all you have SFX, action and comedy, then you don't have even close to what the F4 is all about...not even the essence of who and what they are...

That is inconsequential as far as this production is concerned though. :p

*begin rant*

If Hoy-Boy comes anywhere near the Vancouver lot, the skies will darken, lightning will flash and death will come!

*end rant*

Thats cruel.:o

We have a new production designer, costume designer and probably/possibly a new director of photography and editor. Plus theres a composer who is coming off the back of Superman Returns. Things are looking good for FF2.

But we still have Story directing. That's my worry. Well, that and Rothman.

I think Story will deliver a better movie this time around. He's enthusiastic, has obviously been reading up on the comics plus most of the cast and crew have one FF movie under their belt. So it'll be easier to direct the actors this time.

i agree,he has the material there and the love to do it justice but he needs for Rothtard to leave him alone and for Fox to let the movie breathe and not insist on short runtimes for extra showings

^^FF was a hit for Fox both in theatres and on dvd so i think Story will have a little more say in how things go.At least i hope so.

P.S: Theres some bad karma in Vancouver. AvP 2 is shooting there as well.:down
