Need of a Batman Next-Gen Game

HUSH could DEFINITELY be adapted for a video game. Think about it! You could essentially play as Batman, Robin, Superman, Nightwing, Huntress and Catwoman. All they would have to do is play around with it a bit to give you playable characters. Villains? Catwoman, Killer Croc, Ridler, Joker, Harley Quinn, Hush, Clayface/Jason Todd, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Two-Face. It would be WICKED if there was a VERSUS mode that you could pair up any HUSH character for a battle once defeating the game. Think about it! Krypto the Dog Vs. Killer Croc! Catwoman Vs Scarecrow! Superman Vs The Joker!

Yes. Base a game off one of the most overrated, dumbest Batman stories in recent memory.

I won't dignify that with a real response. :o

Anyway, I think The Dark Knight Returns could make for an interesting game. However, in the end I think that it'd be best if they simply hired a decent writer to make a story for a game, rather than trying to make a game around one that already exists.

BTW, I wonder how they're going to handle Joker's voice in the TDK game... Maybe they got HL to record lines for it before hand, although if that's not the case, I have an easy solution: get Mark Hammil. His joker sounds nothing like Heath's, but if you have to use a living Joker to do the voice, you may as well go for the best.

It would be fun and it wouldn't be boring! It would be non stop action. For a movie that's lame, but in a game it's essential.

yes it does, and i agree with spider-bat. hush was pretty lame.

hmm, i just had a thought, what if theyre waiting until a little after Lego Batman comes out so as not to take too much attention off of that Bats game.

Yes it would. Starts Thursday right?

Right.

If they're going to release the game with the DVD, I think announcing it after the release of Lego Batman, would be a little too late, since the DVD is supposed to be released in November.

I'm thinking they'll announce it at comic-con. It would be awesome if we got a trailer for it.

They already have Mortal Kombat vs DC and DCUOnline at Comic-Con, it would be great if they would have TDK game too!

I've been wondering...do you think Oldman leaked this on purpose, with WB approval? I mean...I'm sure he had to sign a confidentiality clause like every one else...and he's been in the game a long time to know better. During E3, anticipation was high for EA to officially announce this game...it seemed perfect, with E3 occuring the same week as the TDK movie release. Perhaps this little tid-bit was allowed to be "leaked" to keep hope and anticipation alive until we get more details and screens?

Comic Con is nigh...and EA will be there....

p.s. HUSH SUCKS

Hmm, confusing...I thought they only have the license for the Batman Comics and TV shows?!?

Here's the game I would love to see for The Dark Knight:

1. Free-roam. Use a variation of the Assassin's Creed engine with the added ability to glide or use the grappling hook as means of travel. Also have access to the Tumbler, and be able to call the Tumbler to your location at any moment. Tumbler would act as your inventory hub, allowing you to switch out gear and fast-travel if necessary.

2. Interrogation system: Grab thugs, drag them to the top of a building and use the analog sticks to dangle them over the edge. Do it just right and you get the info you need. Do it wrong, and they have a psychotic break, viewing you as "the demon batman" from Batman Begins. They become useless and the knowledge is lost.

3. Detective Work: Find clues, work with Gordon to nail suspects, listen-in on mob meetings from across the street, etc.

4. The game starts before the movie, bridging the gap between Batman Begins and TDK. After the destruction of the Narrows, most of the Arkham escapees were rounded up by Gordon and his newly-minted Major Crimes Unit. That being said, a couple escaped (Ventriloquist, Bane, Poison Ivy, and of course, Scarecrow). You play through a storyline for each escapee, tracking them down and taking on the threats they present. Ultimately the storylines converge into an overall plot where you hunt down the Scarecrow, finally resulting in you walking right into the opening scene of the movie. From that point on, the game would follow the story of the movie as closely as possible while remaining "fun" (i.e. some liberties can be taken where necessary).

5. Keep the game alive: Don't know why other hero games don't do this. After you complete the game, in addition to random crimes, occassionally there would be a "break-out" where one of the major villains (the aforementionable escapees and the Joker) get out of Arkham and you have to track them down and fight them. These would be simple 1-2 part side-mission that would be randomized.

I would rather the majority be based on the comic and not the movies.

Give it an original story and it'll make more sense and you can use more villians.

Thats what i thought. I thought that, through a deal with WB, that EA had rights to any movie based Batman content.

This game would probably have to be endless night, or have Bruce Wayne missions during daytime. I'd play a free roam Batman game to death

I dont think we need any Wayne missions. Unless they have a 'fall asleep during a board meeting' or date 'Russian ballerina' mini-game, i doubt well see any Bruce Wayne based missions.

Yeah... I made a Batman Free Roam wish list once:

Funny... 'detective gameplay' hasn't ever really been done all that compellingly. Sure, we've had some minigames... but nothing that seemed worthy of a game unto itself... part of that has to do with varying levels of intelligence, and the unreplayable nature of a mystery... but I think its still possible.
