Need of a Batman Next-Gen Game

I have heard several rumors that we are in fact getting 2 Batman games...one for TDK and one based on comics.

That would be great! If true, then there will be a lot of Batman games to looking forward to! But I don't complain :oldrazz:

If the rumours are true. I hope the comics one uses Jim Lee's renders from DCUO. :woot:
I know its doubtful, one can only dream...

I'm not looking forward to Lego Batman or DC vs. MK...so even knowing about the TDK alone is a relief for me.

Yeah...and I think it's good to know that we don't have to put all of our eggs in one basket, either.

I mean...the MK game could be good. And Lego Batman should be fun.

So, if TDK ends up being good...it's just icing on the cake for us Bat-fans. Probably the best year of gaming for a Bat-fan if it happens.

If there's a comic-based game AND a TDK game...my head might implode.

So they are doing TDK like Superman Returns, The Game comes after the movie?

TDK game "confirmation" refuted:

This is not an official refutation, mind you. Hell, we've not heard anything official about this game...one way or the other.

He does bring up the unliklehood of a high profile game release in December that has not even been announced yet. And also argues that the footage Oldman saw may have been from a cancelled endevour. Many have rumored that the aforementioned Pandemic game was indeed scrapped by WB for a variety of reasons (including: it looked like it was gonna suck).

I thought an official announcement would surely be made at E3...and now I'm hoping the EA panel at Comic-Con will spill the beans. I wish someone would just come forward and let us know either way, once and for all.

Well...wasn't it confirmed that the game was being made by someone else, and not Pandemic?

I mean...maybe Pandemic was working on it and handed off to someone else?

Does that even happen in gaming??

We really need a detective to figure this stuff. It's like they're playing shadow games or something.

Btw....that blog entry...it's basically arguing what we've all been arguing for months now.
The same EXACT argument we've all made, which is why would they wait so long to start the hype machine.

However...I didn't know that TDK DVD would be hitting in Decemeber. That's quite a good amount of time, especially for holidays, for the hype to fly off the handle.

But...it is all very strange. Usually, games as high profile as this cannot wait to get announced and secure thousands of pre-orders from die hard fans like myself and so many others.

Nothing at all has been confirmed about this game. SCI has a "Batman" game slated for release late this year to middle of next year...no confirmation that it is a TDK game.

The lack of announcement is driving me totally nuckin' futs, here.

Didin't Gary Oldham leak that he had done voiceover work for a TDK game in a recent interview?

the interview was recent, but we don't know when he did the voicework. for all we know he could've done it when they were filming the movie.

Yeah...but there has been rumors that the game was well underway...and cancelled some months ago. Perhaps Oldman was refering to a game that no longer exists?

Sigh...rumors, rumors, rumors. All we have so far.

Comic Con has come and gone...still no word.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible that Oldman was talking about Lego Batman?

well there aren't any voices to be recorded in Lego, you know, because they don't talk ;)

Yeah...but correct me if I'm wrong, I don't recall Oldman saying he was actually doing voicework. I think we just assumed that's why he was there.

Oldman didn't do the voicework for Gordon in the Batman Begins videogame, too.

And yeah, I think we all just assumed he was doing voicework. In the interview...I don't remember him mentioning doing the voice over.

Btw...the FIRST Lego Batman trailer did have voiceovers for the Lego characters.

Oh, and I just read this list from GameDaily...Six Reasons THEY don't want a Dark Knight videogame: http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/g...knight-video-game/?icid=aimDBDL2_link1-a#poll

They didn't change it. They merely expanded it, really. In a sorta confusing manner too.

Batman Begins was a solid game, though. Not great....but solid.

Them using another voice actor for Ledger wouldn't be an insult, either, I don't think. I just think you'd be hardpressed to find anyone who could mimic him well enough.

The polls are interesting in that most of the results on each page indicate most do want a TDK game.

I hope The Dark Knight video game is good. BTW did anyone else think that Assassins Creed felt like batman?

Yeah everyone did. Everyone wants a batman game based on the assassin's creed engine.

Since, we seem to heading this way, and I don't think opening a new thread would be warranted. What would make a good Batman game? How would you design it?
