new avengers - it's that damn noob again!

Yeah if you enjoyed the other stuff (hom disassembled) pick it up, it's quite a bit better than that actually (really hits its stride after the first new avengers arc IMO).

You can safely relegate some of the criticisms (presented here) to a general dislike of bendis's writing style (and his killing of hawkeye ;) ), only one arc of the 4 written so far has had 6 issues and only 1 issue of 18 written has had a ridiculous splash page count which won't happen again.

I'd also pick up the annual.

Yeah, pay close attention to that. I agree completey with the others that recommend you picking this up, New Avengers is some good stuff. It's had a slip or two, but every comic does so take that with a grain of salt.

As to Wolverine's memory restoration bearing on the team, No. They haven't made any refrence to it yet, unfortunately.:(

i've been told in the previous thread that MTU, exiles and Supreme Power are the best starters for a noob like myself - and finance permitting i will get them eventually, but what i'd truly like (in some kind of afforable manner) is to have something to link these big events without being completely submerged in unfamiliar charecters - thus i assumed New Avengers.
Who the hell told you that? Supreme Power doesn't take place in the MArvel Universe. Exiles is about dimension hopping like that old show Sliders, so it's got nothing to do with the Marvel Universe, really, either. Marvel Team-Up is a great book, though.

It's Davis saying it like it is about how he doesn't like decompression and not fond of the writers who indulge in it.

You sir have completely missed alan davis' point.

It's an expression of sympathy for writers not a critique of decompression, its a critique of what the industry provides these days. It says absolutely NOTHING about decompression as a story telling technique.

in retrospect, i believe that was what was said - my missunderstanding!

so - new avengers it is (?)

I think so. If you want to get caught up on the MU (specifically current events) NA is where its at

Pick up Avengers Forever instead

Go for it, and if you've got the cash pick up Young Avengers.

OR, save your money and just get the FAR superior Young Avengers anyway.

OMG best point of this post. Amen, brother.

thank you thank you...the three o'clock show is different from the 11 o'clock show....

I think it's been quickly established that LorDZeeD's tastes differ from the majority around here, so I'm not sure that many of our recommendations will be very valid

only thing I can suggest is to pick up the book and see if you like it

Well now with this Collective stuff going on, he may get tricked into believing that the book is always this action packed. We all know damn well that after this is over, they'll be fighting ninjas again and LorDZeeD will lose interest :(

Im pretty sure the next villain will be Paste Pot Pete

an Irvin Forbush/Paste Pot Pete team up against the Nu Avengers????
Surely the Internet will be rendered in two

Nah, in quarters! Not to mention th' super secret surprise team-up with Ultra Man! Eighths fer sure!

What really hacked me off was that an Avengers/Electro fight has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. That fight alone could have broken the internet in two, and I was REALLY hyped about it.

Yeah, that was a great fight, wasn't it? sigh.

But...we got Ninjas and transexuals and stuff!

Im begining to think all of Marvel's villains are on a carnival cruise which is why they are no where in sight

Idunno, I ain't one of the NA haters, but there's certainly better out there if ya would rather. But if HOM was your cup 'o tea, I think you'd get enjoyment outta NA.
