Yeah, but I want to scream about my desire for jailbait too!

This series is the epitome of Yin/Yang. :o For how much love there is, equal amount of hatred. Unreasonable and reasonable all around.

Move to Japan! :awesome:

It really is absurd. As someone who enjoys the series but is far from a fangirl, I find both sides to be very intriguing. Moreso the insane amount of hatred, though...people waste SO much time discussing what they hate about this movie rather than going and doing something enjoyable and productive. People love to hate!

Edit- I don't find Pattinson attractive, that is. Edward from the books sounds hot :o

Pattinson looked good as Cedric Diggory. You could see why girls threw themselves at his character, but in the Twilight series he just looks starved, depressed and gaunt. I blame Catherine Hardwicke for that.

I didn't think he looked good as Cedric, either. That character was described as being incredibly good-looking, so when I saw who they cast I thought, "" That film was full of people I thought shouldn't have been cast...mainly the girl who played Fleur.

LOL, the brits don't cast based entirely on hotness though. That's obvious.

She also couldn't act. I would've forgiven it if she played the role well, but she sucked :cmad:

I dont think Pattinson is all that bad. He isnt the best looking, but I dont think he's terrible. I think its pretty good looking and I think he looks like a really good vampire.

I just finished the first book in two days, my girlfriend kept saying I should read it, so I did. I gotta say... I thought it was pretty good. But you can tell it's for girls, because like every five pages she's talking about Edward's body, kinda an awkward read for a dude...:hehe: I saw the movie the first week it came out, cause she wanted to. Didn't really pay attention to the movie though.

I watched the first movie tonight on DVD, the pacing is too fast. I mean they got a lot of stuff right, but the book is much better IMO. I think Robert Pattinson was pretty good as Edward, just some scenes in the movie made me cringe. Anyways is New Moon better than the first acting/pace wise? I'll be waiting to watch it when it comes out on DVD most likely, just curious. :woot:

Yes, New Moon is MUCH better. The acting between Kristen and Robert still wasn't that great, though; at least I wasn't a big fan.

The main problem between Kristen and Robert was the lack of eye contact in almost all of their scenes.

Good to hear it's better. :D I just got the New Moon book from her so I guess I should read it, she said I might not like it as much as the first, but that I would prolly like Eclipse a lot.

saw this on the funny pics thread... thought i'd share

Yeah, it makes it very...un-passionate. And it's also amusing due to how much eye contact and soul-searching Bella and Edward specifically have mentioned in the books.

New Moon is a lot of people's least favorite. You might love it though, so who knows!

I know so many people who complained about Pattinson as Edward because they pictured him looking different. All I could think of was, no one looks like the person described in that book. All she talked about was how perfect he looked, it's kind of a tall order.

I started reading the books after the movie was released, so he's the only one I could picture as Edward. If he'd shown up at my old high school, most of the girls would probably be falling all over him. :funny:

Haha, the first lab scene made me LOL so hard.

Edward's expression was priceless. It's like he saw richard simmons naked... or use your imagination for other creative ideas...:awesome:

I think that if I personally found Pattinson attractive that my opinion would be different. It's gotten to the point where I wish I could change my own mind about him, haha. I never wanted to find Jacob to be more attractive than Edward, because Jacob annoys me a lot in the books :oldrazz:

I just found out that the Team Jacob Werewolf Boy is actually an underage 17 yr old. Therefore having him shirtless (showing off his muscles) in the movie was practically alright, but if an underage girl was doing the exact same thing (showing off her nice bosoms) it would’ve been unacceptable in our society. I think it’ a classic case of double standard.

A young male walking around shirtless isn't the equivalent to a young female walking around shirtless. I don't see a double standard there.

So I'm not a Twilight by any means. Very much against it - so I need Twifans help on something. My girlfriend is big into this jazz and loves Jasper ( i think it is). Idk Jackson Rathbone or somebody. I think thats right. He's the emotion vampire i think she said.

I think I got that right, or just made an absolute fool of myself. Regardless - Does anyone know a site other than CafePress that has Jasper merchandise? I want to get her some for Christmas and he's a hard one to find.

Thanks,

- Jow

I didnt see twilight and this was the first i've ever seen/read of the series so this was my first impression of anything Meyer has been behind. My impression is that she is a middle-aged woman who had repressed fantasies from a sheltered adolescence and jotted them down with no real idea how to write or create a story, probably on a whim. The story has no plot layers, the main character is unlikeable, the 2nd character has no depth or personality, and the motivations behind the characters actions are so far-fetched and unbelievable they could only work in a teenage girl film.

2/10, bella is an unlikeable character, a lot of things didnt make any sense, every guy in the movie had a high-pitched cracking voice that made them sound like sissies, something very u nbecoming for vamps and wolves. There was much less fighting than was in the trailer, badly acted generic lovey scenes, wooden edward, jacobs voice made it hard to take him seriously. Bella being just sooo amazingly special that she confounded every vampire's powers with her amazing special-ness was comically ridiculous, as is the name 'Bella'. And the story managed to take the cliche of vampires not wanting to curse their human loves with damnation and somehow stripped it of danger and significance.

The action scenes were cool though. Cant really mess up vampires vs werewolves. All 10 minutes of it.

Try Amazon.com

They have a lot of Twilight merch. I got my gf the Rosalie necklace their. :woot:

He's just....creepy. And I hate weak females like Bella. Blame it on Catwoman and Buffy, but I like it when a girl can hold her own and kick ass.
Word up! Having those types of icons I will never be able to look at Bella as anything more than a plot device.

To be fair, a lot of it was bad translation from book to film. The books were a lot more in depth. The film relationships were very shallow and I agree, no chemistry between Bella and Edward. Kristen Stewart in these movies = :down

Its also tough to swallow that a girl as plain-looking as Kristen Stewart is causing all of this trouble, almost starting monster wars, and every guy she meets is unable to stop themselves from falling in love with her. I get it that she's probably supposed to represent Meyer's plain view of herself and her personal fantasies but its just not believable. Its the "Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dark Knight" effect.

I guess thats part of the appeal though, all the unattractive and plain-looking girls see this movie and read the book and think "even though i'm not the prettiest, I can still get my dream man/men and there is still something special about me that no one can explain [because it doesn't exist] but that makes me all the more interesting and desirable". Even her name "Bella"...c'mon. If that isnt pure fluffy romantic fantasy I dont know what is. A relatively unnattractive girl who's name means 'beautiful', in a movie where all of the extraordinary, good-looking, dangerous bad-boys she encounters fall obsessively in love with her because she's so mysterious and irresistable? Give me a break. Thats eye-rolling material right there.

Its good for young girls confidence and self-esteem I guess. And its sappy lovey dovey, which women tend to enjoy whether its well-written or not. And it makes money. So I understand why the franchise is successful and why studios are making the movies. I completely understand. If I was a studio head I would be telling Meyer to have 3 more books done by 2011. They're making huge bank. But the movie was mind-numbingly stupid and I think a lot of the people involved in the project probably know it is too. But its a paycheck, so hey.

Bella is supposed to be a beautiful girl in the books who underestimates herself. But, it is definitely sappy romance, for sure. Meyers isn't the best writer, but man, she knows how to write addictively. These books and movies are my guilty pleasure :O

Now this statement I understand.

Someone who looks at the books objectively but still likes them. I can't stand when teen girls say how much they love this series or in their talk "OMG Twilight is teh <3! lolz"
