^I was a huge fan of Buffy for the first two and 3/4 seasons but after that it kinda lost me.

It got too glum and I hate when they turn characters gay for no reason. If the character started out that way, fine but to do it just to add diversity is dumb to me.

And yes, ofcourse Buffy was far better than Twilight on it's best day but I was never a huge fan of the character Angel or his show for that matter. I would have perfered Spike get his own show he was a much more interesting character and was played by a better actor.

(Well, obviously you can tell I did watch some of the college years)

BTW:

HUSH was a pretty well done episode but I was always a big fan of the Ted episode. Must be because I like robots. And I liked it's theme of, wonder if your mom's boyfriend was really a monster?

Good stuff.

^ I like 'Once More With Feeling'. The Musical. :woot:

Buffy is my favourite tv show ever. A couple of weeks ago I watched the entire series back-to-back. :yay:

I haven't seen it in so long, I remember I used to be pissed because it was always on TV, now no-one is showing it. :csad:

So what do we think for this weekend? There will no doubt be teen girls going back to see it and through the weekend. It could have a 50% drop or something because alot of people saw it. So I guess it depends on the re-watchability. From the people who saw this film, does it have replay value that audiences would like to go back to?

Damn, all I got is a few episodes here and there on VHS. :csad: :p

OMWF is my favorite episode out of them all, though. I own the soundtrack.

I'm seeing it again this weekend, so.

Definitely my favourite of Season 6, I thought they all did a great job, especially Emma Caufield. For me I'd say Earshot, The Gift or Lie To Me. I love them all tbh, except for Season 4 & 7. :p

seen the DVDs on sale for around 9.99 to 19.99

That is enticing, think I might keep an eye out for S2&3 for my Christmas present to myself. :oldrazz:

I had my first exposure to Twillight last week before New Moon was released. I finally got to go see New Moon last night. I must say that, for what it is, the stories are pretty good, actually. They're too melodramatic and angsty to be completely relatable, but that's more a result of direction and poor screenwriting. I still have yet to read the books, and was planning to wait until at least Eclipse had been released. However, I might pick them up at the library and give them a read over the holidays.

I just can't believe the uproar over what Stephanie Meyer has done with vampire mythos. Some of you really need to get over yourselves. It's not as if she went back in time and altered Bram Stoker's work or anything. It still exists (as well as its influence), as it always has and always will. I have to applaud the fact that she has done something original with such an established mythology. We complain, now more than ever, of the lack of originality in popular fiction. However, when someone does something original, we complain that it doesn't mindlessly follow what's been done before. So what the f**k if vampires are luminescent in sunlight?

My thoughts on the series

Ok, well, let me just say that I’m obviously not the biggest fan of this series, but I don’t hate it. And let me tell you why.

Pros

The Wolf pack was done very well in both the books and the movie. Jacob Black is a really cool, fun character and Taylor Lautner is a pretty good actor. He definitely did the role well. If I had to choose, he was by far my favourite male character. They were funny and they were pretty badass. Definitely my favourite part of the movie.

The vampires eyes are really damn cool. I love them. They’re really creepy, but still really awesome. And Robert Pattinson looks like such a good vampire! He is a really good actor to play a vampire. He has the pointy teeth, the pale, but good looking looks and I don’t know, its hard to explain, but he just looks like such a good vampire. And I do think Pattinson is a pretty good actor. I hope he gets so good roles in the future.

The Cullens. I quite like them. Especially Alice. She’s really fun and I love the way Ashley Greene plays her. Just like in the book, she seems like the most ‘’positive’’ of the bunch. She’s really fun.
I also like how they all stick together as a family and try to solve problems with each other. They’re a really nice way of showing how families should be. Loving and caring and will always back you up.

And I LOVE how they all have individual abilities. I love Alice’s ability to see the future, Edwards mind reading etc.

The Volturi’s are pretty awesome too. They look like real vamps!

And the relationship between Bella and Edward, but to an extent. I’ll go into more detail later on. I also love the love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob.

Now for…

Cons

I really dislike Bella. A lot. Being a HUGE Buffy fan(I think everyone knows this) and a Catwoman fan, I obviously prefer strong, independent female characters who can kick ass and can defend herself. And this is why I REALLY don’t like Bella. I hate the damsel in distress character! She’s so damn weak and she relies on other people way too much. It seems like she can’t do anything without Edward by her side and that’s why I don’t understand how girls like her. I thought girls wanted to be independent an be able to do things on their own, this whole relationship with Edward and Bella is like taking a whole step backwards. Now, I know they love each other a lot, but come on, she can’t even take a **** without him being there! I really think it would be so much better if they weren’t so damn obsessed with each other! And both of them are just too damn emo. Stop it! Bella should NOT want to ‘’kill herself’’ just because Edward left. Sad? Yes, absolutely. That’s the person she loves, but she just goes too over the top.
And they should have gotten a better actress to play her. I’m sorry, Kristen Stewart is hot and all, but the girl can’t act. Honestly, I think at this point, I’d rather have Megan Fox in the role.

I think Emily Browning(Series of Unfortunate Events) should have played the role. I also think just casting her a lot would make the character a lot more likeable and stronger.

Now onto Edward. I like him, but at the same time, I hate him. He should be a lot more ‘’Angel’’ and a lot less ‘’Suburban emo kid who should stop complaining so much.’’ He has potential to be cool. Look at Angel from Buffy. He was in a dilemma with Buffy, they knew they couldn’t be together and obviously he was pretty sad about that, but he dealt with it and moved on! He still loves her, but he knows he can’t hope for something that will never happen. He just seems way, way, way too obsessed with Bella. He’s just too damn over protective. Its one thing to want to keep your girl safe, but its another to hover over her and put her in a bubble. To girls really want someone who wont let them do **** all?

And I really don’t need to hear how ‘’beautiful’’ he is every other sentence. Ok, we get it, you love him ,he’s almost perfect! Nice, move on! I just felt Stephanie Meyer needs to lay off with the over analyzing. We don’t really need to hear how amazing you think his breath is.(yes, his BREATH! Why?!) I think she needs to town that down a lot. Its fine to explain why Bella loves him and what she see’s, but we really don’t need to hear it 24/7.

The love story is decent. It has potential. I like how much they love each other, but they go overboard. I think it would have been a lot better if they were both strong characters and both being independent if they have to be, but have an almost forbidden love and really don’t like to be away from each other. A lot like Buffy and Angel’s relationship. It would have worked out great and I think Bella would be a much cooler character and a lot likeable. The love story is essentially a ‘’Prince Charming’’ story, which I have no problem with, it just needs less ‘’obsession’’ and stronger characters.

And finally, the sparkling. I’ve grown to be more accepting to it because now I have an understanding as to why they sparkle. It’s to lure in their victims with their beauty and to feed without struggle. So that alone, makes me more understanding, but still, its sparkling! On vampires! No! I mean, they don’t even have to burn in the sun(in original vampire lore, they didn’t burn up when in direct contact with the sun light. So that’s fine. I myself prefer it if they do burn, but I can live without it.) but why sparkle? Vampires are dead, soulless creatures. Dark creatures, this is just totally going against that. The way I see it, it would have been so amazing if it was almost like a ‘’Beauty and the Beast’’ type thing. If she still wants them to sparkle fine. How I see it is that in the sun, they glow/ sparkle brightly and appear almost non existent. So bright that you cant see them until you are close up. Obviously something like this would attract people and they would go closer to the big light. And once close enough, the vampires would reveal their true form which would be ugly, vicious creatures and then feed on the human. Kind of like mixing the vampires from The Lost Boys and Buffy with the prince from Beauty and the Beast. I think it would have worked out perfectly instead of just sparkling, that’s so… un intimidating. Or if you don’t want the ugly face, just have everything the same, minus the ugly face.(So big light that attracts people, then feed on them)

So yeah. The way I would change it is the no sparkling(or the beauty and the beast method), a better romance part, less description about everything and stronger characters.

So all in all, I don’t hate the series, but I don’t love it either. I still think it have quite a bit of flaws, but it had a lot of potential. Its mediocre at best.

I don’t think it’s the worst series ever, but it is kind of poorly written. Its mediocre at best. It's no Anne Rice novel, or Buffy or Vampire Diaries, but its ok. Its just the ''new fad''. I think of it as more of a ‘’vampire soap opera.’’ It’s definitely not going to change the way I feel about vampires. I still think vampires are bad ass.
But with that being said, I really wish Meyer would release a book just on the wolf pack and Jacob, because I really like them. Now that one I would want.

I think the movie is headed for a 65 to 70% drop this weekend but who knows, it could drop even more or less than that. We know it's extremely frontloaded we will see just how much in the next few weeks.

As my sig says I'm hoping it hits 300mil but with how frontloaded movies are now or days who knows? Transformers 2 opened with 200mil in five days and couldn't even outgross Spider-Man. The last Harry Potter movie was mega frontloaded too. This movie should be even more frontloaded than those.

Even with the frontloadedness, New Moon and the afore mentioned movies are still huge hits.

Why do you want this movie to make over $300 mil?

It's mostly out of spite of the sexism that infects the internet. I like to see the fanboys squirm about the success of these flicks, especially considering the fact that other cheesy or bad movies don't get half the hate that Twilight gets because they are boy movies. When Transformers and it's fans get bashed to the degree that the Twilight and it's fans are I will shut-up.

It's pretty much all about spite because I obviously don't get any of the money.

And oh yeah, I did think that the movie was good for what it was on my first viewing.

But Transformers is just a cheesey popcorn flick. It isnt really supposed to be serious. Its supposed to be mindless action. Twilight isnt.(and no Im not defending TF, cuz frankly, I dont care for it at all)

You are defending Transformers. Thats fine but it is what you are doing.

You can't explain away the worse movie of the year by saying that it was supposed to be cheesy. I've seen plenty of good or atleast fun cheesy movies and Revenge of the Fallen ain't one of them. The first movie is crap too but even I know that it isn't anywhere near as bad as the second one.

Twilight is a soap. The author may take it seriously but it's clear that the second director and the actors don't take it seriously.

So why don't you do this with Terminator Salvation & Christian Bale?
Any criticism of Bale's performance in that flick is met by the most ridiculous comments from his fans. "He's perfect in every movie, how dare you critique my lord and master." Seriously dude, seriously.

I've clearly said that I don't hate Terminator Salvation and I don't call the fans ******s or stalkers. The Twilight hate is a completely different story.

No, im not defending it. And I didnt think we were just talking about the second one. The first one was more fun, definetly, I didnt like the second one.(Well I didnt care for either honestly) But some people find it fun, so thats ok. But again, its not meant to be anything more than a fun getaway. Twilight is more of a ''movie'' in the sense that its taken more seriously and it relies on a story more than just expolsions. They're two completely different films. I dont think anyone is saying that the story for TF was good, because It really didnt rely on a storyline and much as a movie like New Moon. I dont think you can compare the two(you or anyone else). And I think TF has such a big following because of its history. Its not just the movie that has the following.

Sorry Batboy but I think that response is bull. Even if a movie is supposed to be fun and cheesy it still have to be atleast watchable and Transformers 2 wasn't even that yet it doesn't get as much flack.

I don't understand that and I never well.

And some people like myself and my sister found New Moon to be an entertaining movie, are we not intitled to that opinion because you don't like it?

And I'll remind you that I hated Twilight and have never stood up for that particular movie but I did stand up for the fans rights to like it.

Ok I get what you're saying and I didnt find NM way more enjoyable that TF2. But some people did find it enjoyable. Ive just noticed that alot of people dont really give a **** about a story as long as it has cool action(which I find stupid). So really, Im on your side. I get why I doesnt get as much flack, but at the same time, I think it should get more cuz I found it really crap. Can you believe I actually heard someone say that ''Transformers is the best movie Ive ever seen.''' ? No joke. I wish it was.

I think that it's your and anybody elses right not to like or even hate New Moon and Twilight but I do wish people would stop calling all of the fans morons and pretending that only bad boy movies should be made. I actually wish that no bad movies were made regardless of who they are aimed at.

You won't find me pretending that the Twilight Saga is high art or that it isn't cheesy dumb and just plain silly alot of the times. You won't see me calling New Moon the best movie ever because I'm smarter than that.

I get where you are coming from eventhough I don't really agree. And I think that anybody who thinks that Transformers is the best anything needs their heads examined. I'd say the same thing when talking about the Twilight fans.

What exactly dont you agree with? Im lost

EDIT:Oh jeez, I totally take back what I said. it did look like I was defending TF. Either way, it sucks.

lol I think we are both a little confused. Lets just drop this convo now and agree that I like the Twilight saga for whatever reason and you don't and I'm cool with that as long as you don't insult me for liking it.

Feel free to insult me if I ever lable it high art.:awesome::yay:

Wait what? When did me not liking it come into play? We werent even talking about it.

Did you read that message I posed earlier? It explains everything.

I dont hate the series, but I dont love it either. Im indifferent to it. Theres parts I enjoy and some parts I dont. But i dont hate it or anything. The second movie is entertaining. I liked it.
