New Mutants New Mutants News and Discussion - Part 2

A reminder to everyone....I don't know if scoops are real or not....but if you want to post a scoop that could be a spoiler for another movie...put it in spoiler tags.

Guys the deal is done. And I have a scoop, exclusively for my fellow New Mutants fans.
A friend of mine has informed me that he/she is currently involved (I won't say exactly how) in the inclusion of Galactus in the MCU. Likely for the Infinity War sequel. (he/she is not exactly sure which movie it is for yet.)

That could be unrelated to the Disney/FOX deal. [BLACKOUT]Feige has been trying to get the Big G and his lil' shiny pal into the MCU since 2012 and many posters assumed some rights must havd reverted as part of the FOX TV deal.[/BLACKOUT]. Please post this on the award winning "Keep Hope Alive" thread.

slugzilla you have claimed in the past that New Mutants were gonna show up in X-Force in a small way but they recently have said there is no script and the characters haven't been fully decided apon... so where does this information come from that the New Mutants are or were gonna be in X-FORCE? and if by chance the producers always knew the new mutants were gonna show up in X-Force (even with no script) then why was that gonna be a priority?

There may be no script (IDK) but ideas are certainly being thrown around. And with New Mutants likely not seeing release, I have heard from a friendly fox that most of the New Mutants names are on the table, and are highly likely to be included in some capacity, assuming X-Force sees a release and the contracts can be worked out.

Apparently fox execs were very happy with the work of the New Mutants cast, and would like to include them in X-Force if they can make it happen. Sort of an apology for the JB disaster.

If it's a disaster why don't they shelve the movie already and introduce the New Mutants in X-Force? Why would they bother adding Antonio Banderas and planning for extensive reshoot? That would have saved them a lot of money.

Thank you for re-confirming you're making everything up.

As Galactus cannot legally appear in an MCU movie yet... much less the IW sequel they already shot, you have confirmed for good and all your "inside" knowledge's validity.

Really wish we could actually talk about New Mutants instead of this bs

Little info about my "scoop"..

The deal for Galactus and Silver Surfer was finished nearly a year ago. Sorta similar to the sony/disney Spider-Man deal. Disney can put them in whatever they want now. [/BLACKOUT]

A lot goes on behind closed doors that you might hear rumors about, but usually these things aren't confirmed publicly until a film is close to it's release.

Now back to New Mutants, I will pose to everyone a simple question.

Why is it that we are hearing news from official sources with regard to Dark Phoenix, X-Force, and even Gambit, while there is little to no new information regarding New Mutants, a movie that was already filmed and set to be released over a month ago?

Is Brian K Vaughn still writing that silver surfer movie? I kind of want to see that.

Problem is there is what you say and there is what reports going round say and often they are different ends of the spectrum to fully add up together.

Perhaps its a case of chinese whispers and you are getting 2nd class as it gets down the line. but its fair to be just abit cautious here.

The timing of the deal tracks with the Fox TV deal, more or less. Many of us felt that there was some sort of quid pro quo involved with Marvel allowing Fox to create TV shows. The Mouse never gives something for nothing.

Although this all sounds plausible and I really want to believe it, we've been burned before by rumors. It's best to be cautious about this until we see some evidence...which should happen in about a year.

Seems like we have another Vieweranon - Jeremy Conrad worst Xmen movie ever Hollywood insider person...lol.

Marvel got the right to produce X-Men TV Shows. Jeph Loeb was actively involved in their production (you can look at his comments regarding the Hellfire Club show for evidence of this). Basically, neither side had a right to make the show, they worked together so they both had that right.

Marvel Entertainment has some involvement, but The Gifted (and Legion) is primarily a FOX dealie, with physical production being performed by 21st Century Fox Television and the show(s) airing on FOX owned networks.

Up until the time the deal was made Disney had shown no interest in promoting the X-Men character family. Despite the franchise's popularity the mutant presence in merchandise, animation and video games was at the bare minimum after the Mouse buy out. The move to extend the X-Men franchise to television appears to have been spearheaded by Simon Kinberg and Dana Walden, so it's reasonable to suspect character reversion may have been a part of the deal.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Marvel and Fox previously made a deal whereby James Gunn could use Ego in GOTG vol. 2 and Fox was allowed to change Negasonic Teenage Warhead's powers for Deadpool. A similar deal for Galactus and the Surfer in exchange for cooperation on the TV front would have that as a precedent. I'm not saying that it did happen in this case, only that it could have happened.

because kingberg is infecting it with superhero elements which probably translates to super vibrant colors and cosplay-level outfits ? I think it would've been a great film to have in theaters around now, with the original director's view, as is.

This man is literally looking at the characters' colors and action scenes in the comics and trying to copy paste them onto the films without a general understanding of who the characters are and how to write them into a meaningful, relevant plot with meaningful dialogue. I don't understand how that happens after years on this job. Jennifer Lawrence is practically the same, after four movies her Mystique still sucks major *****.

I frankly don't know how else to explain this. Fox was very hesitant in letting Reynolds make Deadpool 1, but it took on a life of its own and now that Deadpool translates to money, well obviously they wouldn't let Reynolds do his own thing anymore. They'd want a prototypical formula made from the success of the first one to replicate all subsequent sequels (like they've done with the X-Men) and then they'd want to stamp their Fox XMen seal all over it and I'm particularly interested in the way they've adapted characters from the page to the big screen; see Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse and Shatterstar and the Asian girl in Deadpool 2; they're Cosplay level. Deadpool 1 seemed a bit more mature, less giddy and playful. I've also watched a few spoilers here and there and the way they took down Juggernaut was awful. It feels a bit more Disney, but I'm not sure if it is actually Disney or if it's Fox's attempt to homogenize their work. It's not working for me.

And I'm basically regurgitating what other posters have said but it's because some of these things are starting to stand out to me a bit more now. But I will watch it and get back to you.

Ryan has said they got more freedom for the sequel

The Shatterstar suit is clearly tongue-in-cheek and a brainchild of the filmmakers.

This "FOX narrative" will never end, will it? People need to understand that the studio (thankfully) does NOT work like Marvel Studios, where they have a suit and concept art ready even before there's even a director on board. They also need to understand that the current 20th Century FOX regime is way different than the one which was at the helm when the original X-Men films and the Wolverine spin-off were made.
