New Mutants is dead. Dark Phoenix as of now is the last mutant movie coming from Fox. Even it could be pulled from release at this point. It's all up to how Kinberg's final cut is recieved. No one I know has seen it yet. It's still up in the air.

Not a huge surprise but from what I hear Gambit and Dr. Doom are officially dead. As for X-Force, it's not "Officially" dead, but they only have two months to start filming it and that's not gonna happen. So... not happening, not with Fox anyway.
New Mutants will be the last X-Men Universe movie for Fox and Dark Phoenix the last one coming from the main series.
Silver Surfer, Kitty Pryde and Multiple Man are also dead...
lol ikr. but people are making big deal out of this, it's getting some coverage. Was there anyone who still actually thought those projects were happening?!?!

so new mutants streaming release idea is completely dead?

I like Slugzilla and all, but I can't buy for a second that Neville of all people is a serious contender to play Namor. Sorry I just can't.

Regarding Namor, the backlash of casting a non asian person as Namor would be too big. No way, Jose. There'd be boycotts. Feige is a very smart guy. I can't believe this cast. Furthermore, we don't know the situation with Universal, but this might be a Hulk like situation, so they might be good there as long as it's not a standalone Namor movie.
Here's an interesting accounting question. If you put the movie on a streaming service, how do you measure its profitability?
Since when has Namor been asian? Also I think you're vastly overestimating the notoriety of a character that isn't well known. Even if he is definively asian you'd be relying on people to know and care.
He looks asian to me and all the "dream cast" that people do on Namor, it's always an asian guy. Namor is more well known and people want him more than "The Ancient One". You do remember the controversy around that, don't you? I don't think Namor would be played by a non asian actor.

So you mean the fan casting by all the people who fan cast for woke points. No one remembers the Ancient One or the 'controversy '. Even you can't seem to recall they were hoping to avoid 'controversy' by not having an old Asian mystic stereotype, which would have gotten complaints from the very same people who tried to stir up controversy over that character and why that's a terrible example to use for your argument.
Namor isn't that well known outside of comic fans and many of those probably only think of him as a Fantastic Four villain.
Fan "dream castings" are completely irrelevant to the casting process. From the beginning we've been looking for someone hispanic, white, or asian for Namor. We just happened upon Ben by chance. He'll be Namor in his first appearance, which is really just a glorified cameo, however he could easily be recast after that.
Believe me when I say that EVERYONE will be surprised by how diverse the cast of some of the upcoming Marvel films will be.
The truth of it is that very few characters are truly defined by their race & or even their sex. Actors have been cast, & will continue to be cast based on who is believed to be best for the role, regardless of any other factors.
There is no agenda beyond simply trying to ensure that our films can be enjoyed by as many individuals as possible, while at the same time staying as true to the source material as possible.
We love these characters too, and would never intentionally do anything to damage them, or make them unrecognizable to the fans, but sometimes things need to be adjusted for one reason or another. It's just the simple reality of the situation.
I agree they can measure popularity of something. And, yes, if the studio is separate, they can report what they get paid. But there's a lot of potential gaming the system when it comes to writing off a debt here (or, alternatively, if they do something with the movie, it potentially creates an issue with claiming the full amount of the debt). There are a lot of internal KPIs around that for the streaming service (i.e. how many people watched it, repeat viewings, how many people didn't finish it, etc). Externally (i.e. to shareholders) they are worried how many paying subs they have, YOY growth, and retention of customers. For the studio it mainly depends on how much they got paid by the streaming service for the product.
