Not being here (online) doesn't mean I'm not on this train since the beginning (you judding that just shows the kinda of person that u are). I LOVE the comics and I also really want a good movie and adaptation of it on the big screen- I had the pleasure to talk about my love for this characters (especially Magik) with Josh Boone at the Comic Con Experience 2017 here in Brazil and I can tell u HE IS A BIG FAN OF THE CHARACTERS as well.

THR said that, your fav new mutants twitter said that. it was indeed real option that heavily favored.

not to mention slugzilla also said he heard theater option too but he didn't believe it with the current situation going on. he no longer work on the project.

there was rumor in twitter about possible push back to september or octoboer something few months ago.
also If they will release current version or reshoot in some way or different edit?

also new mutants twitter said new trailer might come in this month. I guess that's true considering theater confirmation.

I think this is a bad move on Disney's part. Really surprised tbh. I wonder if releasing the films were part of the merger contract?

Really tho have dark Phoenix be the finale and dump new mutants on Hulu or Disney+. I guess Disney figures if they market it right they can get at least $500m out of it. Same with dark Phoenix.

It seems my sources regarding this one subject were wrong. I thought theatrical release was almost completely off the table, [as did pretty much everyone else who had inside knowledge on the project for the record] but I guess plans have changed.

I'm quite surprised by this decision, & I can't believe Disney is going to let this damage their new toys.

I am however happy for everyone that wanted to see this movie in theatre's & intrigued to see how this is going to be promoted going forward. Horror or something that more accurately reflects the tone of the film?

I'm glad this still gets a theatrical release. I'm very curious how it turns out to be after all this talk and rumours, especially knowing it's the last one in a universe that I like (for the most part). I'm keeping my expectations low but I'm definitely interested.

Because we are not only looking at a likely terrible film but in addition to being bad, it's also a terrible misinterpretation of what the New Mutants are from the comics. It is going to leave a terrible first impression on the general audience which is a damn shame. I wanted this branch of the X-Family saved for the MCU. Now in event of a bomb, Marvel be more reluctant to use them for a long time

I know this is a forum, but my question was directed to Marvel united, not you. You can’t answer for someone else.
Marvel united answered my question, and I accept and respect his answer. He made some good points.

I can't help but sympathize with both sides of this argument. However the theatrical release of New Mutants is something of a double edged sword unfortunately. It's very good in the short term for those that wanted to see this on the big screens, but on the other hand it suggests that Disney has no plans for the New Mutants characters in the MCU at any point in the near future. We'll likely have to wait another twenty or so years until we see these characters in the MCU (Assuming we ever see them) , which is a real shame.

People forget quickly these days, Spiderman was re-booted twice in 4-5 years each time. And yes I know NM aren’t Spidey in terms of popularity. But Marvel make a good movie 5 years after this one people will go and see it.

Its worth noting that during the presentation Emma Watts listed off all the films that were releasing in theaters later in the year and for whatever reason she did not mention New Mutants, But mentioned Dark Phoenix and everything else. Its possible they would still consider a Hulu release part of their slate. But yea theres a lot of signs pointing to theatrical release especially with the Dolby Vision leak.

I really hope they keep Anya on the Deadpool-verse since they confirmed that Deadpool movies will be under 20th Century Fox logo. She had a contract for X-Force right?
