Mystery/Thriller New 'Scarface' Movie

Been there. Done that.

On one hand I'm glad Fuqua went with Equalizer 2, since it's the film I want more of the two. That said Scarface popping up as a generational tale every 40 years on average isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The only thing I expect from this - a proper remaster of Pacino's Scarface on blu or uhd, aligned with the release of this film.

David Mackenzie directing a Coen Bros. script...

... this could work.

The recent history of Coen scripts not directed by them is one of the best defenses of the auteur theory. We know the Coen Brothers direct great films, but take a script written by them and give it to a weak director(Unbroken) and you get nothing. Give it to a great director(Bridge of Spies) and you get gold. Getting someone like Mackenzie attached would be huge.

If it weren't for the Coens writing, I could care less. Diego Luna was good in "Rogue One" but would've preferred Oscar Isaac as Tony Montana.

The worst part of it is is that every rap and hip-hop artist is going to want to contribute songs for the soundtrack.

With how tacky Suicide Squad is and how tacky the De Palma version is, this union could work.

Ayer is gonna direct a Coen Bros. script?

I mean, I know he'll do rewrites to add bro power but i never thought I'd see that happen.

I love how just because he directed Suicide Squad Ayer is seen as this meathead dude-bro director and gets crapped on. End of Watch and Fury were really good films.

The man is not and will never be defined by that p** poor movie. And I'm a DCEU fan so don't come at me guy's.

You don't think End of Watch and Fury are meatheaded dude-bro films? I say that as someone who also liked them, specially the former.

Well, considering meathead means dumb I'd say no. That's not to say those movies are high-art but there is more to them say Never Back Down, Undisputed, or whatever VOD movie Statham has coming out a given time.

End of Watch was, from a filmmaking perspective, the biggest pile of **** I'd seen in years. I'm in shock and awe how someone could just up and forget how to make a coherent movie.

Ayer potentially being attached to this makes me even more apprehensive than I already was. Sure, he has some good work under his belt, but in no way do I think he's the right guy for this.

isnt Ayer also doing Gotham City Sirens?? His schedule is quite packed now

I would rather see someone else do this but I don't think Ayer is a bad fit.

All you need is one **** up and as far as fanboys are concerned you're Joel Schumacher.

Joel Schumacher made Classics like Flatliners, The Lost Boys, Falling Down, and a bunch of good, entertaining films. But he also made the two worst Batman films. Ayer just got too much slack, and by the time WB pulled back, everyone has stupid prison scratch tattoos, including a character that WB should've been more protective over.
