Lane then showed off a trailer for the new Spider-Man series, debuting August 19 on Disney XD. The trailer is a greatest hits of Peter Parker getting hit, fighting supervillains, pro wrestlers, even old commuters.
Joe runs a coffee shop called Cup O' Joe. "What's special about this show is how much of this show takes place at the coffee shop," Quesada said, as he came onto the stage. "Our hope is the way that Stan and Steve Ditko designed the character, we've brought it into modern time... I think this show does a very, very good job, and you should be very proud."
There will be flashbacks with Uncle Ben featuring Patton Oswald, but Peter will look for mentors elsewhere in Max Modell and Joe.
"I had to dig deep and really dig into the essence of the character," Quesada joked of his java-slinging animated alter ego. "Nah, dude, I just read the script."
Lane says that there will be connected stories between Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy, regarding their shared symbiote problems.
As Peter says he's going to bring the suit back to Horizon Labs, the suit starts adhering to him, hissing at him, even making him punch himself as they fight across his room in Queens.
As Peter webs himself into the city, the symbiote webs elsewhere, grabbing him and slamming him into walls and buildings while also punching him in the face. Things seem dire... and then the Vulture winds up grabbing him for a mysterious benefactor.
