no MJ as part of the main cast?? :(

maybe they will save her for Season 2.

after all, Spectacular didn't have MJ in Season 1 ( I don't think ).

She appeared in the 6th episode and was mentioned a few times by Aunt May prior to that.

ah, thanks. I stand corrected then.

oh, well. hopefully MJ will show up in the new animated show at some point.

Whys that?

Basically everything that Krypton has so kindly posted. But yes, Joe is responsible for the worst Spider-Man story to date in OMD. Not only because it ruined the marriage but the repercussions for the character of Spider-Man and Peter are still being felt today almost 9 years since that story debuted. So to have the guy that essentially turned Peter into a man-child instead of allowing him to mature and continue being responsible is now going to be a mentor to Peter--the irony of this is hilarious. It's also sickening.

I think Mary-Jane not being part of the main cast is more of a slap in the face to all Spider-Man fans. Who knows maybe instead of Mary-Jane they bring in Michelle instead. :cwink:

I wouldn't be surprised.

I think you must be running a fever. Here's a prescription: go watch the first season of TSSM immediately and then get back to me. If your illness hasn't cleared up I may need to prescribe the 2nd season :cwink:

Well in all fairness just because she isn't in that initial cast last doesn't mean she won't show up. We know Black Cat is in the show thanks to that Japanese trailer and she's not listed in that cast either.

well, I just got over being sick. you should have offered that prescription a week ago. :o

but rewatching Spectacular might not be such a bad idea. The only reason why I haven't done so yet is because it would be a painful reminder we never got Season 3 and beyond and thus, the story of Peter and MJ never reached it logical conclusion for the series. :csad:

that is true......

I'm not able to watch a new animated series after the perfection of SSM. Everything just pales in comparison.

Wow at that Quesada reveal :lmao:. I'm honestly not sickened by it. It's one of those things that's so bad it's good.

I rewatched Spectacular a few weeks ago to get hyped for Homecoming. It felt like such a breath of fresh air despite it being a decade old now. There's a bit of that sting when you reach the end but it's not that bad. You mostly just wanna barge in Marvel's office and demand they buy the rights for a Season 3 comic. :oldrazz:

Ooooo so joe is responsible for that bs? I thought it was dan slott? Wow what a joke.

it would be nice if somehow it could live on and continue, even in comic form ( like the Smallville digital comic after Season 10 ).

It's time to get over Spectacular already. The show ended almost 10 years ago.

10 years and TSSM is still widely considered not only the best animated Spider-Man show but also the best adaptation for the character in any medium other than print.

There's nothing to 'get over.' *shrug*

It seems there most definitely is.

I'd hardly call it the best adaptation. Or even the best animated Spider-Man adaptation.

LOL. Recent and new Marvel animation shows will forever be under the shadow of Spectacular Spiderman, Avengers EMH and Wolverine and the Xmen.

Marvel animation has been making awful shows after the Disney purchase and that will ensure that people will never forget those 3 shows.

So apparently according to the footage shown at SDCC, Joe Quesadilla's character, Joe, runs a coffee shop called Cup O Joe that Peter frequents. Joe serves as a mentor to Peter.

Yuck.

How many f*ing mentors is this kid going to have? :o

Really, Vile? People haven't gotten over BTAS, so why should they get over SSM?

Batman the Animated Series ended in 98. about 20 years ago and people still talk about that series and compare EVERY SINGLE Batman related thing that proceeds to it. SO let people like the show.

Wolverine and the X-Men was not that beloved by net fans when it was on and was constantly trashed.

"Widely" as in the majority. You not agreeing with it doesn't change anything.

The art direction of this show makes it look like it would be the spiritual successor to TSSM. But so far the writing seems anything but. Really miss the days of W&XM, EMH, and of course TSSM, .Ever since Disney bought out Marvel, their animation department has been trash.

So yeah, I'll stick to the 90's series and TSSM if thats ok with everybody.

You cannot be serious. Great! Now all we need is Quesadilla inserting himself in these shows. Joe, you are not Stan Lee, please stop.

Gotta push that 'OMG HE'S JUST A KID HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO BE A HERO SUPER FUN TIME!!!!!!!' angle I guess. Only matter of time before he gets mentored by Spider-Gwen or Miles...

Unfortunately I am serious. Though I realize I made an error in my original post. This wasn't from SDCC, it was from the Disney Animation panel at D23. But here's the quote from that event:

Lane then showed off a trailer for the new Spider-Man series, debuting August 19 on Disney XD. The trailer is a greatest hits of Peter Parker getting hit, fighting supervillains, pro wrestlers, even old commuters.

Joe runs a coffee shop called Cup O' Joe. "What's special about this show is how much of this show takes place at the coffee shop," Quesada said, as he came onto the stage. "Our hope is the way that Stan and Steve Ditko designed the character, we've brought it into modern time... I think this show does a very, very good job, and you should be very proud."

There will be flashbacks with Uncle Ben featuring Patton Oswald, but Peter will look for mentors elsewhere in Max Modell and Joe.

"I had to dig deep and really dig into the essence of the character," Quesada joked of his java-slinging animated alter ego. "Nah, dude, I just read the script."

Lane says that there will be connected stories between Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy, regarding their shared symbiote problems.

As Peter says he's going to bring the suit back to Horizon Labs, the suit starts adhering to him, hissing at him, even making him punch himself as they fight across his room in Queens.

As Peter webs himself into the city, the symbiote webs elsewhere, grabbing him and slamming him into walls and buildings while also punching him in the face. Things seem dire... and then the Vulture winds up grabbing him for a mysterious benefactor.

I'm still going to watch the show and give it a fair shot. I'm not sure it will be as good as Ultimate Spider-Man, but I like Robbie Daymond playing Spider-Man.
