Primarily because it's a much better movie.

What is it with you and overstatements? "Flop"? Yeah, right.Horrorfan said:Not really. It's just because you are on the ''omg x3 suxxorz'' bandwagon.
I wasn't even comparing the two movies, but at least X3 didn't flop. Now you have Singer making bull**** excuses why it flopped. It had a hell of a bigger marketing campaign than both Pirates and X Men but didn't perform any one billionth as well.
I was just trying to point out realistically, there won't be a superman sequel any time soon. You will see a van helsing sequel before you see that. I'm tired of comparing x3 to superman every time I say somethin g about superman returns. I think x3 was awesome and sr looked like generic trash, you think the opposite, and enjoy the flop more than x3. Why do we have to keep rehashing that?
I was just trying to say don't get your hopes up, thats all, not trying to start another pointless debate we wont agree on.

Even worse, you let that sway your opinion. "Uh, it made more money, so it must be better! Wow!" No. Rotten Tomatoes has Superman Returns so far above X-men 3 it's embarassing to see the series take such a downturn.
X-men 3 is a lousy movie, nothing you ever say will convince me otherwise. The movie is just bad. I don't care how many stupid kids went to the movie.
You're a joke.Horrorfan said:Dude, I dont want to convince you....if you were brainwashed to jump on the anti x3 bandwagon, there's no point since aint it crap has got their claws into you already.
As for flopping.,...when your film hasnt goe into profit in about four weeks on release domestically, its a faliure. Why do you think even Bryan singer admits its failed, albeit by trying to blame everyone else? How do you explain that?
Money didn't sway my opinion by the way. X3 is a FAR superior movie. Better plot, acting, effects, writing and direction....did that cover it all? Its just super sweet that its financial sucess ****s over all the haters while supes bombs.
WhatsHisFace said:You're a joke.
Horrorfan said:Just wondering, has Harry Knowles branded you yet?
But yeah, when you're scrambling to prove supes was a sucess, yet the director is calling it a faliure himself, that's pretty desperate man.
All I know is in the next year or two I will be enjoying a wolverine spin off, and Bryan Singer will drown his woes about superman failing with booze and crying himself to sleep every night in the arms of a slightly underaged rent boy, so enjoy.

Spidey-Bat said:I'd like to see proof that Singer said it was a failure.
I pity you. You think X3 is better than Superman Returns because it made more money. That's insane. Monetary success does not equal quality filmmaking. King Kong was a good film but did not perform as expected. Do you know how many films have flopped in the box office but are critically acclaimed? Mask of the Phantasm made barely 1 million but has few to no bad reviews. X3 on the other had got trashed but made millions in the BO. It shows people are really stupid and would rather be entertained by boring, pointless plots and crappy storytelling than watch a film with actual substance.

Horrorfan said:You would have to ask Braniac....Im pretty sure he's the guy who said it in a summary what singer said, and some other people said they had seen the article themselves. Im waiting to see it myself personally, but why would someone lie about it?
And no. X3 making money shows that people aren't sheep who let REVIEWS tell them what they should and shouldnt like, that they can form their own opinions, whereas people who only listen to reviewers seem to be much more easier led and told what to do. And in case you're a ****ing ****** and missed it first five billion times I said it, x3 making more is NOT the reason I like it better. Its just icing on the cake. How clearly do you want it? I don'tt hink I can break it down to you any easier, Peter Griffin.
Spidey-Bat said:You brought it up, so you should be able to support it.
Oh yeah, everyone who thinks X3 sucks is a sheep to the criticsPlease, you sound like SumOfGod. I saw X3, it was dissappointing and the more you rave it the more I hate it. Whenever I see you raving about X3, it's always, and I do mean always, about the numbers. Other than its financial success, I don't think you've said anything good about the film itself. Probably because there is nothing good about it.
Bryan Singer received a variety of responses at the San Diego Comic-Con. From fans at panels to journalists asking him questions, everyone seemed to have an opinion they wanted to offer to him personally. I got a chance to talk with Singer for four minutes and 11 seconds.
Newsarama: Superman Returns of course, will make plenty of money. The DVD is going to be monstrous. But it seems its not as successful as everyone wanted it to be or as successful as people wanted it to be.
Bryan Singer: Domestically. Internationally it has so far exceeded our expectations. I was personally surprised because it is an American superhero. Compared to my experiences with the X-Men movies I feel disproportioned. The strangest surprise has definitely been the international gross.
NRAMA: What happened in America?
BS: In my personal estimation I felt it was an issue with the marketing. Youve got a dense summer and youre resurrecting a character. Theres a different kind of approach youve got to take when you bring in something new. Even though hes Superman and the character is ubiquitous, a Superman movie is a very new thing and it has to be presented in a new way. So a lot of that burden falls on the kind of presentation it is given.
NRAMA: I was really surprised that the plot of Superman Returns mirrored the plot of Donners Superman movie so much.
BS: It takes you on the same journey that the original one did but as an adult which was quite intentional. Right down to him sinking in the water. It is not remaking the first one but I wanted to take the audience on the same kind of journey as the first one but with a mature guy whos going through a dilemma that wasnt in the first one. Its in the marketing. I dont know how to specifically qualify but it has to be understood how to present something that hasnt been around for a while. The last Superman, Superman IV, in its American release made 15 million dollars. It is still something new and it has to be launched on the flip side of the other movies of its ilk.
NRAMA: After he gave up his powers in Superman II, Lois and Superman slept together. Im going to assume that thats when he got her pregnant
BS: Possibly.
NRAMA: Then he gives her the kiss, which made her forget that they even slept together. Was the pregnancy a mystery for her?
BS: I ignored that part. I just assumed she remembered sleeping with him.
