I view it like this Aronofsky had a good outline and structure but i feel it was too dark and too graphic for wolverine. i mean a lesbian molestation threesome is bit much!! we don't need soft porn like that.

maybe it could have worked but i really think it would be too extreme.

I like what mangold is doing here. now that Fox understands that they need to let Mangold, Hugh and the writers do their thing...we will get what we should have got last time.

I honestly think that gavin hood wanted to do the same thing but they wouldn't let him. Hugh and Gavin were forced to make a bad film because i guess the people in charge kept interfereing. i'm sure he regrets signing on to do that film.

if The Wolverine is dark knight rises good then hugh should do another one.

i say that they should invite back tyler mane and let him have dialogue and give him some character and they should redo the weapon x story to once and for all erase the stain of orgins forever and actually call the film "weapon x"

the story should be similar to the animated series episode weapon x lies and video tape.

except the x-men would not be apart of the story at all since the team has disbanded. it would be wolverine having flashback nightmares that include tyler mane version of sabertooth and flashback's of him killing silver fox in a cabin.

and more detailed visions of stryker's experiments on both sabertooth like wolverine with the weapon x helmet on being experimented on outside of the water tank.

maverick, silver-fox, and wolverine as team x and visions of them going on missions together.

logan-team-x.jpg

and somehow in the story wolverine, sabertooth, maverick and silver-fox are forced to work together to battle omega red.

the tyler mane version of sarbertooth resurfaces and they battle in the begining and almost kill each other. and somewhere along the way the whole "false memories" aspect comes into play.

and they remember how stryker recruited all of them.

That would be fine except that Liev was a much better Sabes than Tyler.

Agreed. Though I wouldn't mind Liev coming back as a blonde Sabretooth (but with the haircut he had in Origins). I wouldn't mind seeing Sabretooth back as either a member of the Brotherhood or a Marauder (if they ever do them).

It would be cool to see Sabretooth back in the present time line in the X-movies, but I was thinking it would also be cool to see Fassbender's Magneto recruit Liev's Sabretooth.

There are so many things wrong with this statement.

Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Mulholland Drive...none of those movies are "soft porn". They're brilliant movies.

Its amazing how lesbianism is still taboo in 2012.

I don't think his use of the word lesbian is indicative of any prejudice on his behalf. I think you're just reading into that a bit much.

He's correlating lesbianism to soft porn.

Its not prejudice, just a narrow-minded view towards lesbianism in film.

Lesbian sex in cinema does not equate to soft porn.

To me it just reads like it's an objection to the sexual content. I don't see it as all that far fetched for someone call that sort of sexual content soft porn. At no point does he specifically equate Lesbian sex as soft porn, it seems more like a condemnation of that scene rather than lesbian sex itself on the big screen.

Though perhaps he is narrow minded about lesbians, but I just don't get that from that paragraph. I think you're just hanging it all on one word in a sentence which is arguably just descriptive and nothing else.

There's still too many people that adhere to taboos.

If I had a nickel for every person I've heard call Steve McQueen's SHAME soft porn, I'd be Warren Buffett.

Its disillusioning because studios cater to those people & as long as those people condemn comic book characters to family-friendly molds, we'll never really see them fully dissected or realized the way cinema brilliantly does with non-CBM characters.

Maybe it's less of an 'objection to lesbianism' and more 'objection to public rape on a train being depicted in a superhero movie'

Well I would certinly be up for more scenes like Lesbian sex scene they had In Black Swan.

The key word in his sentence is molestation.

I think we're going to get that BTS video before the trailer. BUT I pray we get the trailer in November.

It wasn't rape though was it? It was just Yukio fondling the other chick until she got into.

I'm a little worried about this movie because of Mark Bomback. I just looked at his record and it doesn't look too good. I hope his contribution to the script is minimal...

Didn't Jackman or Mangold or someone say that about 80% or so of the original script is intact? If that's true, then his contribution is probably pretty minimal.

Yep.

Jackman said 85% is still the same but I don't buy that for that minute.

The moment they announce the film is rated PG-13, the script is officially 85% different from what it was.

The addition of mutants besides Wolverine, the WWII sequence, Jean Grey, Viper, the post-X3 setting...Bomback & Mangold added all of that.

I still think the film can work, but its going to be a completely different film than what Aronofsky envisioned.

leave that stuff for drama films no one wants to see some sort of soft porn in wolverine he is not just a character for adults but children

While I don't agree with that particular scene myself, I don't want to see The Wolverine be a PG-13 movie. While Wolverine does appeal to and is marketed at kids that's not always the case and not every story is for kids. I think this movie in particular could do with being a more violent movie than previous X-films.

he is not just a character for adults but children

This is a highly inaccurate statement and the essential problem the character's had cinematically for years.

Wolverine is not for kids.

Claremont says it in every interview, he began as a Canadian superhero but the more and more he peeled the onion, the more he realized how much more he was than just a another superhero. That's why he pursued the miniseries & eventually his own bi-monthly book.

Wolverine has blades on his hands, the temper of a wild animal & he is virtually invulnerable. People are gonna get chopped to pieces around him. There's nothing children will gain from admiring Wolverine other than this guy can kill better than anyone else.

Start watching real movies please. Its sad to read stuff like this because it shows the target demographic for these films to studios (young adults) is still filled with people that have no interest in this genre evolving and would rather it remain family-friendly summer fare. Watch Black Swan, Lost Highway, Videodrome, Shame, Requiem for a Dream, Mulholland Drive...I guarantee you this "soft porn" view of serious cinema will disappear & an embrace of story, gravitas & pathos will begin.

I want the Daniel Plainview approach to Wolverine. The Benjamin L. Willard approach to The Punisher. I want character exploration in my CBMs. I don't want yellow spandex & white boots.

You have the cartoon for that.

There's nothing wrong with anyone not wanting to see an over-sexualized Wolverine movie. I think we can agree to disagree without getting all film-snob about it.
