News & Discussion Thread

Reading some of these reviews I guess I'll pass seeing it in theaters. The ninja mountain sequence had me intrigued the most but I can live without it for now.

I thought this was great. Everyone was great, the action was phenomenal. I was one who enjoyed the first, I thought it was a lot of fun and this movie was way better than that one. I really hope there is a 3rd one only if Rheese and Wernick write it like did this one and John Chu directs, I thought he did a great job. This man needs more action movies.

I mean how was Flint great? He barely had any lines and had nothing to do.

I still enjoyed him, he was unnecessary but he wasn't hurting anything. At least he looked like he wanted to be there, thats all you can ask for from background characters. I will say RZA blugh, I forgot about him he is god awful.

How was Cobra Commander?

Cobra Commander was alright I guess, he really didn't do much in the movie, he was in it less than the first movie. The voice was just okay, if anything it was too subdued.

Well, they kind of had to skirt the line so that it was an homage to Chris Latta but not so much that he sounds like a cartoon.

I wanted to see:

"You went rogue."
"I wasn't gonna bury any more Joes!"

Hmmm the Rotten Tomatoes rating of this film is not looking good anymore. But I'll still watch this movie!

Man this was a disappointment. Really wanted to dig this flick. The downtime in this was horrible and alot of the action was pretty mediocre as well besides one or two scenes. The villains were having a good time and it was awesome to see CC with his mask. But why not use his original voice that is so iconic? Would have been way more entertaining.

and Ill say this about Tatum...
...I know some hate him but one of the best things character and acting wise was him and The Rock bantering back and forth. They were the only Joe's who looked they were having a good time. Every other Joe looked bored as ****. Ditching Duke was a bad idea. The early scenes def got the most reaction from the audience.
Other then that Adrianne Palicki looked damn fine, the president was hilarious and some action was decent. I know Ill get bashed for this but in some ways the first was a better film. Sure this film did some things more accurate with characters but as an overall film and Directing wise I thought the first surpassed it in more then a few ways.

Well, this dude is directing Masters of the Universe to boot so you better suck it up.

Bummer, hopefully he gets better or just scraps every part of serious Drama from the Masters Of The Universe script cause the only thing that worked here character wise imo were the comedic moments.

It feels like this should have been the first movie, they're really setting up Cobra to be this bad ass organization much better than they did in the first one. Cobra Commander seems to be getting to the Cobra Commander we all know by the time this movie ends. I thought Chu did an immensely better job than Summers. Ditching Duke sucks because him and the Rock did bounce of each other nicely but that was a choice they had to make because Tatum wasn't going to be around. I saw an interview with the writers and they were talking about how their first script that the studio loved was Duke as the main character and then they found out that Tatum couldn't be around for the shoot so they changed it to Flint and then they found out that the Rock had wanted to be a character so they changed it a 3rd time to make Roadblock as the main character.

I know he's the director and all but he didn't write the movie.

Thats the problem too. But I thought alot of the action was pretty weak and all the scenes with the Joes hiding out are horrible. Ive seen alot of those actors do decent even with bad scripts, but alot of the scenes here are just boring and dull. Snake Eyes during non action scenes even seemed off. Thought his presence in the first was stronger minus the mountain scene here.

I have no problem with him directing another film, he can only get better. Seems the guy has only done Dance flicks so I guess for being outside his genre he did decent. Maybe my expectations were too high.

The banter between Duke and Roadblock was easily the best part of the film. I enjoyed Roadblock. Flint was useless. Zartan steals the show in this one. Lady Jaye was sexy. Goodness gracious. I just need to take the time to appreciate her body. Hot damn, she was too damn fine. I enjoyed the film so much until [blackout]it was revealed that Zartan killed Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow's master.[/blackout] That was beyond lame and was completely out of left field. [blackout]Zartan's death was also crappy.[/blackout] The film staggers from there. Had the second half of the film been as good as the first half, this would have been a solid film.

This film was better than The Rise of Cobra is now. Still, I was disappointed.

Pretty much agreed on everything you said Warhammer.

Both Joe films have big flaws and weak scripts so its tough for me choose which is better. Each have their pros. This one shouldnt anger as many fans as the last one did thats for sure. But I still thought there were some things the other did better.

I'll believe it when it gets done. Not long ago, John Stevenson was the "director" of Masters of the Universe.

I expected this one to be just alright :( But I'll check it out anyway at the $1 movie theater in a few months or rent it

That's actually straght from the comics.

Despite the rest of the Joes 'dead' and because certain things were not mention or forgotten, in theory, Scarlett can come back for the third film right?
