most of what's considered chivalry was killed by equality. actual chivalry was about who it was right in their view to rape or kidnap and demand ransom for. it was the code of the "noble" horseman.

About 10 years ago, a friend of mine ( a very nice guy) was excited about his first date with this woman who was 20 or 21. He was 26, at the time, I think. We were best buds, so he wanted my thoughts on her.

I drove 3 hrs to meet him and the prospective girlfriend. When I get there, he tells me that she informed him that she was in love with a 36-year-old MARRIED man and that she couldn't go any farther with my friend. Talk about an uncomfortable meal!

He called me two months later to say that the married man had decided to stop cheating on his wife and patch up his marriage. She was crushed, of course.

I told my friend that if she made these kind of decisions with her life, he was better off without her.
