Nice guys finish last

I'll give you a scenario.

Dave is gives to charity and rescues animals. He approches a co-worker, Lisa, who shows no interest. Later that month Brad brags about how he slept with then dumped Lisa. Dave wonders how Brad could get so far with Lisa then concludes after other similar experiences that women go for jerks.

Is there something wrong with Dave or the taste of these women? If somethings wrong with Dave then why did these women choose guys capable of dumping them after sex over him?

Maybe Dave took too long to approach Lisa. Maybe Lisa already had plans with Brad. Maybe Lisa wasn't physically attracted to Dave. Maybe Brad put on a facade of niceness. Maybe Brad was lying about getting with Lisa. Maybe Lisa wasn't ready for a relationship and Dave came on too strong. Maybe they're all hamsters. Maybe Dave's an ***hole. Maybe Brad, despite bragging about his sexual escapades, is actually a better guy than Dave.

There are a lot of variables there.

But you're not defending "nice guys". Nice guys get by just fine from my perspective.

You said "yet, they're never lonely". Lonely is a state of mind. I didn't miss the point, you assumed that getting laid or having women around means they're not lonely...that assumption is false.

Replace the word "lonely" with "alone"

Problem solved.

What about the other common denominator: the abusive jerk who has women lined up to be with him.
Well what kind of women are they? Are they they kind of women a "nice guy" would want to be with? Not likely.

And if you want quantity over quality, you know what you have to do:

2) If you want to get laid, and don't care about a relationship, do this:
  • Find a bar, preferably not an expensive one.
  • Go there
  • Get annihilated
  • Do this for a week straight every single night
  • One of those nights you'll probably score
  • You're not allowed to be mad if she looks like a trainwreck

Sure you say we can't judge you by what you say on the internet, but when you repeatedly the same mantra over and over again, what else are we supposed to assume about you?

I could complain about why guys don't like me all week, but I knew what the truth was - I'm a quiet, shy hermit, and people like that don't usually get a chance to meet other people. And you don't need all girls/guys to like you, you only need one. So you might as well be yourself and find the one for you instead of complaining about why life isn't fair. Well, unless your goal is to beat your friends at the "how many people can I sleep with" contest. :o

How about my scenario;

Dave gives to charity and rescues animals. He approches a co-worker, Lisa, who agrees to go out with him. They get married a year later, have many children and live happily ever after.

You can't just invent a scenario that proves your point.

I'm guessing Dave is you?
He approches a co-worker, Lisa, who shows no interest.
You see this here is a complete story. There is nothing further you need to add to it. Lisa doesn't like Dave, I don't understand what's so confusing about this:huh:. Maybe Lisa's not turned on by Animal Rescue charities, and before you say "she says she loves animals" that whole aspect of Dave's character is eronious because clear Dave is not the guy she is looking for.
Later that month Brad brags about how he slept with then dumped Lisa.
Question: Why do you assume Brad is a "jerk" for doing this. I mean bragging is a little *****ey, but maybe, just maybe they were sexually attracted to each other and there wasn't much else to the relationship. Sometimes that's just the way it is.
Dave wonders how Brad could get so far with Lisa then concludes after other similar experiences that women go for jerks.
I'm guessing Brad asked her out and she said yes:huh:, and this quest to find out why she said yes is as fruitless as trying to figure out why I prefer Burritos to Pizza.
Is there something wrong with Dave
Yeah probably.
or the taste of these women? If somethings wrong with Dave then why did these women choose guys capable of dumping them after sex over him?
You know people who aren't "capable" of dumping other people? Dave knew nothing about Lisa, he could've gotten her home like Brad and found out she was a complete psycho b*tch who takes things to fast.

I want to know more about this Lisa character. Is she a vet? Does she love animals? Is she also a charitable person? IS she hot? Has she been hurt by an ex boyfriend in the past? Is Dave her first boyfriend?

One thing I've learned is you never know how anything will turn out and life is just one great big risk. Sometimes you'll fail, but the only way to know is if you try, unless you accept failure from the start and don't bother.

They are not the same thing. With or without women I'm never alone. I have lots of friends and parents who love me very much, as I do them, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're not lonely.

Maybe Dave took too long to approach Lisa.

Dave, LIsa and Brad were all hired at the same time.

Maybe Lisa already had plans with Brad.

Nope.

Maybe Lisa wasn't physically attracted to Dave.

Brad and Dave are twins raised by different families.

Maybe Brad put on a facade of niceness.

That would still put Lisa's judgement into question.

Maybe Brad was lying about getting with Lisa.

No Lisa confirmed it to Dave.

Maybe Lisa wasn't ready for a relationship and Dave came on too strong.

He was visibly nervous. More so than Dave but Dave would never dump her the minute the slept together. This also puts Lisa's judgement into question.

Maybe they're all hamsters.

Brad and Dave have chest hair but no, not hamsters.

Maybe Dave's an ***hole.

He would never dump a woman after the first night they had sex and he gave Lisa no indication he was an A-hole.

Maybe Brad, despite bragging about his sexual escapades, is actually a better guy than Dave.

Define better?

There are a lot of variables there.

But they all favor Dave outside of his nervous approach.

oooo Is this storytime with MessiahDecoy? Cool!

Sounds like Lisa's judgment was clouded by Brad's dishonesty. Probably on account of her being a hamster.

AS long as the scenario is largely possible there's no reason to dismiss it.

This is the biggest myth for the past 3 decades.

Guys, if the girl IS NOT physically attracted to you, YOU CAN BE A JERK all you want and she will still not go out with you.

Nice guys or bad guys, it doesn't matter. The ONLY thing that matters is IF YOU are physically Attractive to her. Plain and simple.

This guy gets all the girls and he is an a**hole!! Well girls like him NOT because he's a jerk...they like him because he is attractive.

Seriously, do you guys ever seen an un-attractrive BAD BOY???

I'm not saying be super-nice to a girl. NO!!! Girls don't want to be smothered either.

To get a girl, yo must have something she wants. Either looks, money, social status, talent, etc. You better take care of your body, have a good fashion sense, financialy stable, successful on what you do, a unique talent and A CONFIDENCE that can let her know that you can live without her.

Good guys NEED a girl while Bad boys WANT them. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Good guys also think too much while Bad boys just go by instinct.

I mean yes being meek will get you nowhere because fortune favors the bold.

But at the end, it's NOT that nice guys finish last....it's really the unattractive guy that finish lasts.

A good looking "nice" guy will always get picked by the girl instead of the un-attractive bad boy.

It's the truth.

I don't dismiss your scenario, I just think it's woefully one sided. Remember that girl I brought up earlier, the one that did drugs with me all the time. Let's assume that's Lisa. NO! Throw away all your hypothetical office interactions for a second, and try to hear this out. Do you think Lisa broadcasts to the world she cheats on her boyfriend, or does a bunch of drugs? NO! My point here isn't that all women are ****ty drug addicts. My point is that you seem to assume that Lisa has sh***y judgement, when it could be you don't know that person very well, certainly not well enough to know why they rejected you. Brad could be offering her something she wants that you wouldn't know just from being her co-worker.

Maybe Lisa and Brad just realized they both wanted some sex that night. Maybe Lisa isn't all broken up by Brad dumping her right afterwards.

But let's play your scenario where Brad is the womanizing *****e breaking women's hearts everywhere he goes, while Dave is the nicest guy ever. I bet Dave consoled Lisa after Brad dumped her, then after the next guy and the next guy, hoping time after time she'd just realize the great guy was right in front of her. You know who the biggest a-hole in the story is, Dave because his long term friendship was based on just wanting to get in Lisa's pants. Brad and all the other jerks may have said some lies to get into her pants and it worked, but it was one night of lies, not months or years.
