Evolution is a pretty good source for them to look at in regards to Kurt's characterization.

Cool. I've seen him in several movies and he's really good. Two questions though:

-Will he try and do an accent like Cumming did in X2?
-Will they try and address the Mystique thing at all?

Also since both NC and QS are in this movie, Singer's going to have his work cut out for him. The White House fight in X2 and the Kitchen Scene in DOFP are probably the two best action set-pieces in this entire franchise. It's going to be hard to top those.

the accent is very much up In the air.Because it was done In X2 doesn't mean it will here.

As for Mystique thing it's very possable especilly since that helps with Mystique's devolpment.

As for Nightcrawler and Quicksilver they could very well both be used vs Horseman.

I can very easy Imagine a big epic battle where X-Men and what comproses the brotherhood has to team up VS the four horseman before they can get to Apocalypse.

I really do love this casting actually. Kodi is a good actor and he looks perfect for it. I just don't trust Singer with this character.

I'm not worried at all. Nightcrawler was a total badass in X2.

The characterization of Nightcrawler was one of the things Singer did very, very well if you ask me. I'd love to hear what you think was done wrong with the character.

This. Nightcrawler was one of the highlights of my favorite X-Men Movies and Singer has always been kind to the teleporters. ;)

The self harm was a big problem for me, it's something the character would never do. Other than that, I felt he really had no character outside of his religion. Most of his dialogue is him either trying and failing to introduce himself, or preaching his faith.

Don't get me wrong, I love the religious aspects of the character, the irony of a devout christian having the appearance of a demon, but I feel like there was no subtlety or nuance in the way his religion was shown. He just constantly preached and pushed his faith on everyone. Other than that, he didn't have the wit, love of adventure, sense of fun or great compassion that I expect from the character. Kurt is an Errol Flynn-esque swashbuckler at heart and I didn't get that from X2. I felt he was too reserved and distant whereas Kurt should be the heart of the team.

That's just my interpretation though. And from a shallow perspective, I hate his crispy hair and his blue skin. I want the fuzzy elf, with short fur all over his skin. I know that would be much harder to do though so I can forgive it. And his brown nails were gross.

I'll give Singer credit for portraying Kurt's powers well and that action scene in the opening was very well done, I just felt the characterization was weak. I would've also liked to have seen more Spider-man style acrobatics, but I'll accept that would have been more difficult back in 2002.

I don't expect to change anyone's mind, but I hope I at least explained my problems with Singer's version of the character.

Pretty sure Kurt had accepted his looks, hence the conversation about pitying other people because of their inability to know anything beyond what they see with their own two eyes.

Oh, how people forget.

Fair enough, it's been a long time since I watched it. I still stand by my other problems.

He apparently self-harmed in the past, but had since come to terms with his looks and moved on. And I doubt that THIS Kurt will be at that point this early on, so it's a non-issue anyway.

A candidate less for Spider-Man now.

But I'm happy they got someone of Kodi's caliber. It will give him great exposure.

Does this mean that Nightcrawler is going to be an important character?

I'm not saying I'm expecting the Kurt in this movie to be exactly the same, just explaining why I didn't like the X2 characterization.

Man, he better have the accent. It just seems lazy to cast foreign characters, and then have them just be American. (I'm looking at you Colossus)

Don't know if this is good cast, he's too tall for Kurt.
If Sheridan don't grow up, in next movies every male chracters will towering over potential X-Men team leader.

Wonder if they track him down in Germany, he did have a thick german accent in X2.

Boohoo.

People still don't know that it's possible to solve this problem while filming?

It most likely will be the case, they made james marsden look the same height as famke. Can't believe people are still bringing up his height.

Nightcrawler usually spends most of his time crouched anyway so I don't think it will matter.

I'm hoping that Nightcrawler this time around is the comic relief. That's the role that he fills in the comics. I'd like to see more of that in the films.

That and there will probably be less self-harm this time as he was never a victim of Weapon X.
