Apocalypse Nightcrawler in the Apocalypse Movie

freedom to not have a character in 2023? thats not a problem at all

there was enough mutants at the mansion in the first place

Them being teens doesn't automatically mean angst and there's nothing wrong with them having real emotion about their positions as mutants in the world. Especially as they grow into adulthood.

The idea that teen characters aren't worth exploring because they are too angsty is ridiculous. When written correctly (see Hunger Games, The Fault in Our Stars etc.) angst and emotion amongst younger characters can be just as dark, compelling and gripping as older ones.

It's also automatically relatable to just about everyone because we've all either gone through or are going through it right now.

Eh, don't know about those movies. I'd say John Hughes's 80s flicks is what they should aim for. It'd be a crime if they didn't honestly, since it's when the movie is set.

The Hunger Games has strong teen characters but I prefer the core X-Men as adults and not teens. So I only want one film of Cyke, Jean and Storm as teenagers. When I think of teen X-Men.. I think of the New Mutants, Armor, New X-Men, Jubes and Kitty.

In the realm of film making story telling it's not a great thing to have to explain a missing story element from a first film in a 3rd sequel in the need to explain something they didn't even hint too, it's sounds like a desperate move to explain something they didn't plan out ahead of time, it would be seen as contrived

Infact yes contrived is the only word needed for how it would be seen

Surely you're talking about Mystique/Azazel reveal here that you have been wanting them to include in Apocalypse? :oldrazz:

That happened after in the empty span on 10 years, which is more forgiving?

More forgiving? Sure.

However, I hate to be *that* guy, but by the time X-men Apocalypse comes around, it would've definitely been more than 10 years otherwise we'd have a 10 year old Nightcrawler.

But yea I agree it's not so great to have to explain missing things to the audience, especially events that happened decades ago. Missing/long-lost children at that. Leave that to the soap operas of the world.

With how some are proposing on here, we would have 3 such reveals in this film (Mystique/Azazel/Nightcrawler, Magneto/Quicksilver, Xavier/Proteus and I don't think critics/audiences are gonna like that idea.

Dont forget Havok/Cyclops (brothers).

Yeah there is something very soap opera and forced about missing and lost or secret children that I dont want to see it in a X-Men film. Next time people would ask for Mystique to become Rogue's foster mother in the nineties.

I think GuestStar might have been referring to the 10 years between First Class and DoFP, not the 10 years from DoFP to XM:A, so Nightcrawler could be in his teens.

However, all these family relationships are probably not going to be possible to include within the movie or any of the X-Men movies.

i don't know why but i think we have all assumed in apocalypse that quicksilver would already know erics his father at that point and that it would have been revealed in them 10 years between DOFP and Apocalypse, so the only big reveal would be mystique and nightcrawler and even then it probably wouldn't be a ground breaking reveal but something as small as xavier mentioning shes his mother

i don't think they would repeat the same thing in 1 movie, but i suppose the question is would it be abit much for the audience to suddenly have quicksilver and magneto father and son... was DOFP enough to hint at that anyway to make this easier to accept

"So you can move metal? My mother used to know a guy who could do that." The implication of that line (also Magneto's reaction and QS's mother's reaction to seeing him on TV) make the implication pretty clear.

I makes me sad seeing people bashing the soap opera elements of the X-world. The X-men has always been, and still is, a glorious soap opera.

^ Totally disagree with some of you guys.

Revealing something that, for some audience members, is shocking is a great thing. For example, when we found out that Darth Vader was Luke's dad or when we found out that Leia was Luke's twin sister. These were those wow factor type reveals that make these stories/movies memorable.

Yes, introducing us to Nightcrawler and then later finding out that he is actually the son of Mystique is not going to be on the level of the Star Wars reveals, but for the general audience, who has no real knowledge of the comic canon, it will be a slight shock.

More importantly, in this movieverse, the conception of Kurt was likely caused by the events that were caused by Erik choosing to leave Mystique and the Brotherhood. Yes, we know it was because he was trying to save Kennedy, a fellow mutant, but Raven never knew that. From her point of view Erik choose to leave her which would likely lead to some negative feelings.

So my point is that Kurt's parentage most likely applies to the story and to the resolution between Raven and Erik, which makes me think 100% that it will be included!

I doubt nightcrawler will have any effect on eric at all

They won't use nightcrawler as a ditched ex gf excuse, and eric will be all I can't believe I hurt you so and that will bring them back together

DOFP has shown how little mystique thought of him, even if There was an attraction (who didn't she have an attraction too), she put the dead mutants ahead of him, she kicked his ass so he could could get her revenge

Plus her and hank will also have something in apocalypse

the relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore in Days of Future Past, so we’ll have an opportunity to do more of that in Apocalypse.”

it wont be that much of a shock considering both are the only blue skinned mutants in this. Thats how their relationship was first hinted at in the books and it wasnt a shock bc visibly they resembled each other bc of their mutation. Outside of comic book fans, I dont think it will be that much of a shocker if they go there in this film. Its a logical and obvious deduction

What about Hank? Ok, he's blue "furred", not "skinned", so you got me there...

But if it plays into the story, which I think it would, then it's worth including. It's pretty simple:

- Raven loved Erik. Maybe Erik loved Mystique, or was she just a means to an end for him?

- Erik left her (from her point of view). He didn't take her with him when he went to protect Kennedy, and he never came back.

- Who knows what happened from there between she and (assumed) Azazel? Did she turn to him for comfort? Did he force himself on her? Did he trick her by making her believe he was Erik? These are all feasible things based on what we saw in DoFP and per comic book canon.

- If she is Kurt's mother, which most assume and is per canon, then she must have become pregnant with him in 1963 or 1964 (based on the actor's age and story elements we know).

- If she is Kurt's mother, most likely after giving birth to him she abandoned him with Margali, which caused him to grow up in the circus.

Personally, I really want to see the circus performer Kurt. Which means Professor X and some of the X-Kids going to visit him at the circus (what a great scene that might be!). This will likely lead to exposition of how he came to be there, which would then come full circle when Raven and Erik later exposition.

This all just makes so much sense!

- Erik left her (from her point of view). He didn't take her with him when he went to protect Kennedy, and he never came back.

It's likely it was all over the news that he killed jfk so she probably knew where he went and she didn't try and get him out of jail even though she clearly wanted to save her fellow mutants just like magneto did, and the idea of revealing to her jFk was a mutant is weak as a way to fix things in apocalypse

And They don't have to be treated like lovers in order for her to join his side, mystique has had an attraction to many people in these films

- Who knows what happened from there between she and (assumed) Azazel? Did she turn to him for comfort? Did he force himself on her? Did he trick her by making her believe he was Erik? These are all feasible things based on what we saw in DoFP and per comic book canon.

What like her looking horrified when she see Azazels and angels dead body in trasks pictures and wanted revenge?

Or is this gonna be another new element where she mentions azazel even though he is dead and we find out he was a devious guy?

The look she had when she saw the Project Wideawake file could mean many different things. Yes, like you (apparently), I took it to mean that she felt something for the loss of these characters, and the fact that I am aware of how she and Azazel are Kurt's parents in the comic made me think that that emotion was aimed more so at the photo of Azazel.

But that doesn't necessarily have to be the case.

We do know that one of Azazel's powers (in the comics) is to be able to metamorph, so that could be used as a plot element.

But yes, in the comics, it was explained that Mystique was in love with Azazel and that he was actually in love with her as well, making her the only person that he ever truly loved. This is what led to her cheating on her husband, Baron Christian Wagner.

But with Azazel being dead they could do whatever they want with the reasoning of why they ended up mating in order to fit this story. And whatever they do decide it can easily be explained in this movie!

Yes, I agree with you that it would have been known by Mystique that Erik was imprisoned, but I'm pretty sure the wheareabouts were kept secret. Maybe the reason why she had to give baby Kurt up was that she went on a mission to try to find Erik.

And yes, they don't have to have been lovers in order for her to join his side, but I believe it's safe to say that most people believe that Erik and Raven were and continued to be lovers after she left the X-Men and joined Erik's Brotherhood:

So, what do you guys want Kurt's characterization to be like? I think X-Men Evolution would be a good template for both Kurt and all of the other younger characters.

If they don't show him at the circus and make him into the fun, light hearted, joking, swashbuckling character that will hopefully fight at some point with three swords, one using his tail, I will be highly disappointed.

We've had enough of brooding Nightcrawler. Now give us the Nightcrawler from the comics!

lol sucks when that doesnt happen. i dont care just gimme a good story with good character development. give the writers freedom.

They could mix differents elements and make their own version. You could have the fun Nightcrawler and keep the religious angle .

I wouldn't mind if he says a quick prayer, if the situation called for it, or crossed himself, or whatever to give the nod to that. They could even have a stuation where he says something like "God, have mercy!" when he sees the devastation caused by Apocalypse.

But they don't need to go over the top or have him branding himself with symbols. Actually, i's rather see him have a small tatoo of a bamf on his arse cheek!
