i'l just leave this here

"But first, we asked whether his Slow West co-star Michael Fassbender, who plays the younger Magneto in the current incarnation of X-Men, had anything to do with him getting the role. “I think it was coincidence,” he told us. “At first, I just had a meeting with Bryan Singer and we hit it off and spoke a lot about our own interests in quantum physics and the spiritual world, so we hit it off, and then I just did an audition and they were saying, ‘Bryan wanted you the whole time so let’s get the auditions done with.’ I can’t wait to connect up with him on set. It will be such a different environment.”

Of course, since he’s taking on the role that was played so well by Alan Cumming, we wondered how much of that performance he has to bear in mind when playing the younger Nightcrawler. “I don’t try to avoid it, and I don’t try to keep it in mind. I just let things come naturally,” he admitted. “Because it is the Marvel Universe and X-Men and there are a lot of people expecting a lot of things, I did a huge amount of research on anyone who has portrayed it and even in the comics and the cartoons and live action. I just followed Nightcrawler’s story. I feel very honored and grateful to be expressing that now. I can’t wait.”

Smit-McPhee also had some thoughts on why Nightcrawler may not have been brought back for last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past along with some of the other returning cast from Singer’s earlier films. “I think Bryan said that he thought that it just wasn’t the right time because there were already so many mutants in it and after reading the script now, I can see what they’re doing. They have the ability to bring these younger characters in now, so I think a lot of the people who know the traditional origins of where this came from will be very happy.”

Whoa.

Quantum physics, Ancient Egypt, Tao Te Ching = mindblown
:exp:

science mixed with spirituality. we don't tend to see those combined very often !

If you have ever had a chance to watch "Borgia" on Netflix (the European one, not the Showtime one)...I always thought Mark Ryder would make a perfect Kurt/Nightcrawler. In the series he plays Cesare Borgia, the son of Rodrigo Borgia AKA Pope Alexander and is very conflicted with his faith and womanizing and desire to be a warrior. Wish he'd have gottena shot at Nightcrawler.

That second pic is something! :ilv:

They mentioned Kurt as being called 'Nightcrawler' in the circus in X2, so it's probably very likely that they will show him starting at the circus. If it wasn't out there then, it's definitely not out there now, which is great. It's not a particularly out there concept so it should be embraced fully. I'm glad Bryan got his first choice for Kurt and I think this kid really just has that look and chops to pull it off.

I can't stop looking at that guy's... um... sword.

"I think a lot of the people who know the traditional origins of where this came from will be very happy."

I think we're getting the circus!!!!!!!!!

Funny how kurt kept wearing his circus costume after he joined the X-men.

Here's Kodi Smitt-McPhee talking Nightcrawler at the end of this vid:

Well, I wich he would be reading up on Catholicisim, but at least he's gets that there's a spiritual side to the character.

That's no longer on instragram. Was he asked to take it down?

X-Men: Apocalypse: Kodi Smit-McPhee says Nightcrawler Will Be Closer to the Comics

“I think I’m really going to make it my own because it is kind of going back and its seeing the younger character,” Smit-McPhee said. “I realize the Nightcrawler that is portrayed in X2 is one that has been through quite a bit more and has really embraced the superhero part of him—a kind of violent part. Whereas I think what they’re trying to show here is the more vulnerable Nightcrawler and the one we all kind of related to in the comics. It’s really the fun, happy, swashbuckling Nightcrawler that we all love, so I really can’t wait to portray that. He’s just very vulnerable and truthful, and grounded in his faith. I think it’s something new though that we’ll see. But as I said, all of the traditional things that we want in it—it’s still there. Hint, hint.”

So, effectively everything I've wanted for this character seems to be happening!!!!!

Yay!!!!

Just loving that he even used the identical wording that I used at the start of this thread:

"fun, happy, swashbuckling!"

Did I mention... Yay!!!!!!

As long as they do not force this Mystique is my mother revelation then its all good.

I am afraid it would just come out of nowhere....we should have at least seen Mystique pregnant or with someone in the previous film. andI dont think theres room for it in this film.

It was weirdly hinted at in X2 though
