They could just as easily accomplish that task of Bruce rediscovering his humanity by introducing Selina / Catwoman, and without the ho-yay connotations.
To a point, yes, but the foundations behind that rediscovery takes on a new form entirely.

It's like the love you have for your wife, and your mother. It's both "love", but different kinds.

At least I hope so. :awesome:

True. But I think if they did it with Robin it would also give Bale a chance to show some more range of Bruce with the whole "father figure" thing. It would be a great way of making people realize he's still F'n Christain Bale..after the Dark Knight.

Be like Batman mixed with a little Rain Man....only Dustin Hoffman is a young boy....and not mentaly ******ed.

Too bad Bale don't like Robin, I think he prefers been a loner.

Yeah...but if Nolan warmed up to the idea, then he could/would convince Bale...probably.

I heard Bale's favourite graphical novel is Dark Victory (I don't know if it's true or not) I guess if Nolan uses DV story-line for Robin maybe Bale would do it.

I'd also perfer if they did add Robin to make his name come from Robin Hood and not the bird..somehow.

Also I don't want Alfred to be responsible for making the costumes, poor Alfred had to make costumes in the previous franchise.

You're right. Maybe Alfred had more secrets than we thought.

On topic though. Dick's suit would be a tough one to pull off. They could do the story and everything, just that damn suit.

Actually I liked Robin's suit in Forever when Batman sees Robin says "what's R stand for?" It's not a bad suit, Nolan could do something similar (without the nipples) :hehe:

Yeah. I'm thinking of a much younger Robin though. Probably wouldn't want him out in the field though.

So according to you, the franchise's future depends on Bale's preferences?

Yeah I heard that as well. I have yet to read DV. Been meaning to pick it up when I get the chance.
"Dark Victory, along with its predecessor The Long Halloween, is also a personal favorite of current Batman star Christian Bale."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janice_Porter
I dont really think he got down and properly read them. Because they are probably the most boring, unreasonably long, overestimated Batman stories ever written.

One of the best scenes in the movie. I love how it ends:
- A man's got to go his own way. A friend taught me that.
- Not just a friend...
- A partner...
Damn if it wasnt for the nipples, the neon and the over the top villain performances, Forever would have been a very good batman movie.

Under Nolan's super realistic scope, the Robin suit would look ridiculous. But if they lightened up on the realism and added some more atmosphere (Begins had a lot more than TDK for example), then Robin, Harley or Killer Croc wouldnt feel so out of place.
That said, i would like to see the pantless Robin suit (from the early comics) used as the circus suit. Then he adds some pants to make his combat suit (similar to Robin's suit in Forever or BTAS). Perhaps towards the end he gets a MK3 which is more grimdark. Batman went through various suit designs throughout the years and Nolan could have used one of them as the first, flawed suit for his Batman, like Favreau did for his Ironman. Since we didnt get that for Batman, i would at least like to see it for Robin.
Tim's red and black suit, although the less cheesy of them all, shouldnt be worn by Dick. It should reserved for when (and if) Tim comes along. Also, perhaps by adding a hood like the one Damian has now would make the suit less cheesy.

And we all know that it's going to be but that's the point with Robin. Recently in comics, Batman looked back at his first years and he fondly remembered those old, cheesy, more carefree days... Dick's personality pulled back Batman from the shadows he was getting lost in. Had it been Damian or Tim back then, Batman would have become an alcoholic.

What about Bale comments above? I didn't make that up honest...........

I think its unfair that good characters are dropped just cause the leading actor and director think the worst of them...you know who Im talking about

Add Dick Grayson base his origin on BTAS (Flashbacks) or Dark Victory but just don't show him as Robin. But if we do have Robin have him have a hood ( like Robin Hood) and not a domino mask but if not a type of eye and nose cowl I would be happy as can be with that

Well maybe they feel they don't want certain character (s) in order to tell a good story. BB & TDK didn't need Robin since Batman himself was a rookie in this version of Batman.

True. It just depends on the elements of Batman and the storyline. No point having him in,if he isnt needed.

Nobody said the stories need Robin to work. But after a while, the story needs to go on. For example House M.D. replaced his assistants because it was getting boring. At some point the franchise needs to open up.

As for Bale and Nolan, maybe they said that to calm and reassure the audiences that they wouldnt go camp. Due to Schumacher the general audience had connected Robin with camp, and they had to bring them back since Schumacher destroyed the franchise. But if you ask me, they could have just said that they wouldnt introduce Robin, and not those use those derogatory comments for him, since i doubt that at the time they had read any comic books.
Anyway, maybe Nolan does dislike Robin. That's why its important for DC to have a supervising team over their movie projects. I wouldnt like to push a director, because he probably wouldnt deliver, perhaps even on purpose.

Seriously, i like Robin, but maybe its too early. Perhaps after another couple of movies. But if DC think that he needs to come in, they can at least force Nolan to end the 3rd movie with Bruce entering the theatre. He is leaving the franchise anyway so his successor can pick it up from there. Starting the 4th film with Bruce in the circus would be a good way to link the continuity between the two directors and casts.

The idea of Robin acting a little more brutal than Batman does in battle and Bats forcing him to tone it down has always been a mainstay in some of the stories, and I think would work well here.

Maybe for Jason but not Dick. I dont think that Dick was ever too brutal.
