Well considering there is no justice league and superman, and all other heroes do not exist, i think what you said doesn't apply(in the nolanverse).^

This is not the comics, it is how nolan has chosen to portray the character, so far it would not fit in at all, he does not need more help than ever, he's stronger now than he ever has been, he has just successfully become the loner we all love from the comics(and as far as we can tell, defeated joker, although i hope two face and joker are brought back), robin is not essential to the transformation of batman(to film), although he may have been essential to the character.

Although I do see some of your positions on, batman cannot be in two places at once, he could feel strong regret, if there would have been two of him than maybe rachel would be alive.

If we ever do see robin, he will be darker than ever, there will probably no red or green, no crazy yellow, only black. Robin is a misshapen puzzle piece, but maybe nolan could chop down the edges, and retain the core of the character, he is a person for batman to talk to, they can relate in the since that they both felt great depression and loss. Now bruce has taken him under his wing much as Ra's did, but he wouldn't be crazy of course.

Although I am unsure if the character would be laughable or a complete Bada**, I wonder if nolan has given any second thought to the character.

You don't use the comics as a template, I don't even consider you a fan. That goes for Nolan, Bale and whoever the **** else decides to tackle the character. You improve on something, don't make like you created the property. Know your roots.

How can I use the comics as template, I am not creating anything. Robin is not my favorite character, and i would rather have a batman movie without robin than none at all, I do not see him as essential to all batman stories, and a lot of the good stories exclude robin, they choose to focus more on batman than on other characters.

I am a batman fan not a robin fan.

Batman will probably be in a pretty bad situation. He's on the run for a crime he didnt commit. He's lost the love of his life (so far). He has to be something thats he's not. He wont get a moments peace. He will probably try to follow in Dent's place and try help improve the City. On top of that he will have to deal with the new threat and this villain should really prey on his mind. I want to see the more vulnerable side to him. The disturbed Keaton and Kilmer thing, where things constantly bother him. Bale's Batman is tough, but I want to see the tragic side to him, make him actually think about his parents deaths again.

Dick will help Bruce focus on his life. Make him see sense and realise that he has to be there for a disturbed and angry child, who has nobody and needs help. Batman might not need his help crimefighting from him, but they both need the help of one another to get back on the right track. Batman will help Dick overcome his ordeal by training him. By BM4, he should be Nightwing.

But what kind of help can a preteen or teen give him?
And other than helping Bruce psychologically, Dick is supposedly the best acrobat in the DC universe with unparalleled agility. Even in his teen years he is a good fighter and he can also provide batman a second opinion on the clues they find, etc.

....and it would be pretty sweet to see a scene between bruce and young dick with that Zimmer score. The one they played a lot in BB and the scene with Gordon and his kid in TDK.

"Why do we fall Dick..."

God no.

It is a bit cheesy but i like it. Seeing Bruce use quotes previously used by his father and Ducard would be a great way of showing their influence on him.

Your avatar is so great!!! I laugh every time!

It would show that Bruce has come full circle as a person. Taking influence from both his real father and Ra's and instilling their teachings in this angry young lad who reminds Bruce of himself.

Yes Ra's was a megalomaniac who wanted to destroy Gotham. But he also dug Bruce out of a hole, put him back on the path of good.

I think that despite being a misguided megalomaniac, Ras had some good virtues and was a great mentor. You can see how he bonds with Bruce in the mountains and why Bruce saves him from the burning monastery. I think that even now that he knows his true colours he respects him.

What would be the best thing?

Batman falling in love with the daughter of the man who drove him to become a crimefighter? (Falcone. Selina)

Or fall in love with the daughter of his mentor and enemy? (Ra's.Talia)

I wouldn't expect Falcone as the father of Selina, that's TLH version.

I haven't read one post but just by reading the Thread Topic I say no and leave it at that. Besides I remember reading somewhere could have been here on the hype that Nolan will never use Robin in his movies.

Actually, when Batman Begins came out, Nolan said he wasn't sure if he could use Robin, seeing as how he considers him to be rather young at this time, which can easily be written into something different

I despise Robin. Burton tried to do it in his dark approach twice, first in B89 and then again in BR, and it didn't work.

What scares me the most is that Nolan is talented enough to tackle the issue with a great chance of success. I hope he doesn't convince himself that it'll be a challenge he wants to conquer and introduce Robin in the next film.

I liked Burton's reasoning about the whole Robin issue:

"[Robin] is the most worthless character in the world, especially with Batman as the loner of loners."

Agreed, especially since the Falcone of Batman Begins had more in common with Maroni of TLH, and Maroni in The Dark Knight was more like Falcone of TLH.

Well make CW Maronis daughter.

Or more interesting. Make her Black Masks sister,Alfreds neice,Jokers third cousin and Robins fairy godmother.

Burton is no comics expert. I think that real comic experts should advice the directors like Goyer did with Nolan. He convinced him to keep the cape and grapple gun for example which Nolan deemed "unrealistic". Thank god for Goyer!

I am with you on this. I'd rather she is independent and not related to any other character of the franchise. And no hooker origin please.

Its true. The more I thought on it, I really dont want Catwoman to be Falcones daughter. Totally unnecessary.

Ummm I'm one says she wouldn't be tied up with any character..... Rod wants Falcone as the father like in TLH........

There is a part of that does and that doesnt. It all depends on clever writing.

I don't know about everything, but I wish Harvey was alive, if he became a villain, the peoples last hope would be batman.

What did Burton try to do with Robin in B89?

Actually he was a tech-wiz played by Marlon Wayans.

What did Burton try to do with Robin in B89?

They tried to introduce the character in the story. In the original Sam Hamm draft, there was a sequence were Bruce chases after the Joker on horseback. The chase winds up going through the tent during a circus act with the Graysons. Joker causes them to fall and die. There's a section in the special features B89 dvd that storyboards this sequence.

For BR, Sam Hamm tried to work him in again in his "penguin and catwoman hunt for lost treasure under Wayne Manor" story. After this script was scraped by Burton, Daniel Waters introduced Robin as a hip hop urban gangbanger who saves a knocked out Batman during a fight sequence . They cast Marlon Wayans. At the last minute the storyline was dropped.

Burton said that ultimately they couldn't get it to work with the dark take they had on Batman. Yes, Burton wasn't a comic buff. But for anyone who doubts that he ever understood the psychology of Batman, please see the sig.
