Nolan introduction on Absolute The Long Halloween

TLH, HUSH are two of the best Batman stories ever writen. DV is pretty good too.

WHY? Because they kept you guessing! That's why... Who wants to read a story were you can guess the out come?

Ok, well a serial killer had a pattern and most cases doesn't stop until someone stops him. What don't you understand?
Well the fact that mobsters were being killed it should have been classified as the work of a mob enforcer or a vigilante.

No wonder they couldn't catch him.

Ok, good point. I would say technicality though. So you've read the book who was Holiday?

Good question. Gilda ,Alberto and Harvey all killed people under the Holiday killings. Except for the first three and the coroner I 'm not sure who killed who.

The problem with Hush is that after 5 years, we're still guessing who the villain was.

Enlighten us.

Loeb "cheated". You have no chance to guess the killer.
Not being able to guess the killer is a very often-occurring theme in mystery stories. It was even made light of in Niel Simon's Murder By Death, which was a spoof on kinds of mystery franchises.

I know who the villian was in TLH

It was ME!
seriously it was Alberto begin with then it was Harvey then Gilda

I think you got it backwards.

Anyway, after reading TLH I said to myself that Batman is perhaps the worst detective on the planet.

I'm pretty sure the real killer was Gilda, up until Alberto faked his death and continued the killings. Harvey ended as Holiday, by killing Carmine Falcone.

At least that's how I interpreted it.

Well, there are a lot of possibilites. But no solution seems to fit for me without feeling too constructed.

Some things are just absurd in TLH, for example, when Bruce is arrested for... what? Because his father saved the Roman's life? Why doesn't Poison Ivy find out that Bruce Wayne is Batman when she controlled him for a long time? The villains are just thrown in without any sense. Why wasn't the Riddler killed? And why doesn't Batman do any real investigations? And so on... :wow:
