Nolan's brother should do a great job, if he's inspired by the graphic novels. I'm happy that the scribe is a fellow fan of the source material.

It's interesting that he sees batman through the lense of DKR and year one. They've got, IMO, a drastically different feel from one another. One of the things that lingers at the back of my mind is whether Jonah will be able to distinguish the fact that DKR is an old crazy unfulfilled batman versus a young, fresh, driven yet slightly crazy batman from one another. I'm assuming that he can, being a Batman fan. But still... lingerage.

All of these little tidbits of news [that say nothing but are still interesting] are getting me so pumped for this film.

The writers of superman Returns are fans.. are you going to give them the same appreciation..

just because your a fan doesn't mean a good script you would write.

i don't understand why everyone hates on superman returns. i'm a superman fan and i thought it was fantastic. not begins quality, but still, high quality.

a lot of the returns hate comes from the fact that people wanted a new take on superman, and instead got donners take all over again. i liked it, a bit too long, and lex could have been better, but still really good.

I love Superman, but am a larger Batman fan and I thought it was as good, even possibly better than Begins.

Which really is quite stupid considering they knew that it was going to be a Donner sequel to begin with...

yeah. i think a lot of people on here were predetermined to hate the movie because it wasn't want they wanted to begin with. i checked out the superman boards a few times before returns came out. very negative over there. which is ironic seeing as they're superman fans...oh well.

:batty:

ah well. can't please em all. at least i'm happy! :)

i watched begins last night actually. and i still happy danced at the end of gordon and batman's final rooftop scene. i even 'squeeeee'ed a bit.

No way you can please everyone. I recalled watching BB on a late night and after getting out I overheard comments about the tumbler looks bad,Bale sounds like Dirty Harry, not enough action, you name it.
There will always be whining fanboys. Im actually both a Superman fan and Batman fan but Im even honest enough to admit I liked Begins a lot,Spiderman then Superman Returns.
SR was really about reliving my childhood nostalgia, I liked it not loved it
but I felt weird that it made me buy the 1978 Donner DVD movie and experience Superman all over again.

I didn't like the tumbler when I first saw pictures of it but as soon as I saw it in the movie I thought it was badass. Overall, it looks much better in the dark though.

The 2nd time I saw it, I liked it more, but I just felt like Singer used the 'less is more' schtick, and 'Superman should feel like he's coming out of your collective consciousness,' to create a lesser version of number 1.

How would you feel if Nolan had tried to copy what Burton originally did w/ the same villain, same feel, and similar character interaction?

haha, that scene might be the most bad*** ending in CB film history . . .

Oldman: I never said thank you.

Bats: *turns around* And you'll never have to. *jumps off rooftop*

Cut to Oldman smiling.

Nice way to end it.

I wonder how they'll top that. :hyper:

Same here. When I saw a still of it originally, I was skeptical, but I saw it in a brief trailer and I was happy with it. It sorta grew on me too.

I wonder if Nolan/Goyer wanted to showcase the Tumbler again in their Story treatment for the 2nd one, or if they left that up JN? I'd like to see what that vehicle could do in different elements/terrains, but I doubt anything like that would occur in TDK.

I'm glad Jonah is a fan. But just because he's a fan doesn't mean its going to be a good movie. It helps but its not a guranantee for a great movie.

What i think is more important is that Jonah wrote a pretty good and original story like Memento, thats a great positive.I'm also glad both the Nolans ánd Goyer (huge Batman fan) have all had a hand in story/script.

Are they fans of the comics or just of the Donner movies? Or even just Singer lackeys?

Looking at their film credits they deserve appreciation for such wonderful scripts like: Urban Legends: Bloody Mary.

Nolan isn't the kind of guy to hire someone for personal reasons, he's a filmmaker first and foremost. Jonah was the genesis for Memento, so he's no slouch.

I agree that fans don't necessarily write good scripts about Superheros (see fan films), but if they are already wonderfully talented writers it doesn't hurt.

Jonah credits Chris with turning him onto Batman in the first place after buying him Frank Miller's graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns for his 14th birthday. "I have loved and cherished that character from that point, but through the lens of Frank Miller: Batman: Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One."

That the most encouraging news I heard about his involment on TDK.

Yeah, the fact is, a lot of posters there had already made up their minds about the movie before they actually saw any footage. I decided to take the opposite approach and see the movie without any preconceived notions of what it should be. And I enjoyed it a lot.

A restart was a good thing for the Batman franchise cuz the character hadn´t really had that kind of fully-developed origin story. As far as I´m concerned, Donner told everything I needed to know about Supes´ origin in the first movie. We had a retelling of the origin in TAS, even Smallville is kind of a VERY extended origin story, the last thing the world needed was the whole "Krypton explodes, Kal-El is sent in a ship, lands on Earth, gets adopted" thing all over again.

Babs, it´s soooo good to have you back on the boards...:cwink: :woot:

There was an interview in the past when Jonathan/Jonah (same person by the way) called Chris a 'dofus' for trying to explain the details of Memento. Jonah thought the movie is open to interperation and shouldn't be fully revealed. Hehe.

Jonathan is a great writer so I never really doubted his DK script but it's great to hear how long he's been a fan of Batman

Even better to hear that he's a "Frank Miller's Batman" fan.:yay:
