The Dark Knight Nolan on picking Jonah to write TDK

Even better to hear that he's a "Frank Miller's Batman" fan.:yay:

Careful...

That was the first thing to pop in my mind aswell, when I read that.

I wonder what happened to Frank. In Year One he did a great job at writing a Batman that was dark but still heroic.

miller probably got tired and decided to do a parody of the more recent portrayal of the batman with the all-star issues.

funny thing is it was his own dark knight returns that started this portrayal of "psycho" batman. but i always thought dkr just showed an aged batman who had become disillusioned and more brutal and screwy in the head.
being a vigilante dressed as a bat from age 25 to 40+ will do that to ya i suppose.

Yeah, it made sense at the time. He was fed up with what was going on in the world.

What happened was he got sick of all the other writers trying to ape his style. So, he decided to go the other way.Bear in mind though, his portrayl of Batman has always stayed consistent. It's just the way he's presenting the situation(ie the way he's telling the story) that's 'lighter'.That said, the Batman in Year One and DKR would've easily have said "im the goddamned Batman" among a host of other things that Miller bashers hate.

anyway, i know i'm offtopic, but... i was thinking what if the dark knight is chris nolan's last movie? i mean, same thing happened with chris columbus and harry potter (i hate those movies by the way). what if part 3 is directed by another filmmaker?!?!?!?

sorry for that ot...

I loved the idea of Jonah writing the script for TDK, but now I love this idea even more!

Nolan Bros+Goyer=Excellent Screenplay :)

Why would you think just because Chris Columbus left Harry Potter that Chris Nolan would leave Batman?

Isn't this old news?
I already knew Jonah would be writing the screenplay.

Nolan isnt stupid. He knows this is going to be his trademark in movie history. As much as he denies it, he is clearly a batman fanboy so as long as he can work on his other projects in between and take it one step at a time he should be able to continue to make batman sequels. He has the perfect formula for batman, and these movies make him ton of cash, so why not do it while youre doing something that you are good at and while you bring satisfaction to many many people out there? I hope he has enough love for the material to work like Raimi seems to be working with spiderman.

Jonah is a great writer. Look at all the rich dialogue in memento. Also consider the fact that the main plot lines have already been established and that goyer is the number one consultant here and he is very knowledgeable in this matter so nothing that shouldnt be there is going to get past him.

After seeing begins many times, i have full confidence in what the nolans' and goyer decide to do. No one ever predicted they were going to make a film that good so giving them the benefit of the doubt is the least I can do.

Uhhh, no, it is new.

Now we know that Jonah was Bat-fan and knows enough about this superhero.

I also hope he's using the Neal Adams/Marshall Rogers Batman stories for references, and of course, the early Bob Kane/Bill Finger stuff to.

Well, they did with Batman Begins. It's sort of a hybrid of lots of things. I'm guessing TDK will be a hybrid as well.

i don't mean that chris nolan will leave batman because chris columbus left hp. it could happen. christopher nolan is under contract only for the dark knight at the moment... if he decides not to return then...

WHO YOU GONNA CALL?

Nolan and Goyer have said that they made up a basic storyline for at least three movies. The story in the second one is supposed to be closely tied to the one on the third one.

GHOSTBUSTERS!

But serious, maybe the dude that directed Se7en/Fight Club or the dude who's directing The Fountain...their names elude me now

David Fincher and Darren Aronofsky.

David Fincher, who´s been suggested to helm a Batman movie for years, the other is Darren Aronofsky, who actually almost directed a low-budget r-rated version of Year One co-written by him and Miller. An interesting project, but one that took MANY liberties with the comics and there wasn´t much of a chance WB would actually greenlight it.

...or alex proyas. anyway, i'd prefer if christopher nolan stays as long as possible (maybe even for 6 movies, who knows...).

David Fincher would be excellent choice for next director of BB sequels (after Nolan leaves franchise), but I doubt he has interest in doing it.

Damn....

we're probably gonna get a hole batman in TDK

Damn.

naaah... calm down. even if jonah nolan is a fan of the dark knight returns it doesn't mean we'll get a frank miller batman in the dark knight. i mean, christopher nolan is the director. the script is being written for him, to help him create his vision for the new movie. anyway, christopher nolan is already doing script revisions.
