is this guy serious?

''A lot of people are judging their opinion on an incomplete version of the film, and so instead of just releasing the same material, Fox is releasing a slightly extended version for the U.S.''

it makes no sense .why would FOX relaese in japan a shorter version?
it makes no sense that they would realese short version at the screenings screening for reviews.

why would you want that in the reviews it says that the movie is short?

Justin Chatwin said the same thing.

I'm really not going to trust Chatwin on this even if the rumor is true. Or any actor that was involved with this film because it seems like all they've been doing is lying.

It makes sense. FOX realised people didn't care for the shorter version, so to try and save the domestic box office for the movie here, they decide to release a longer cut, to put people off of downloading the movie.

who has been lying about this movie?

Chatwin has said stuff like "Goku in the movie doesn't know who he is if he isn't fighting", which is a lie. Chi Chi shows more interest in fighting then Goku does.

Marsters has said Piccolo as a character is very Shakespearean. That is a lie. Piccolo shows up for 15 minutes and we don't even get a feel for his motivations. Marsters says the character actually wants to use the Dragon Balls to become young again which is news to me because they never mentioned anything about that in the film whatsoever.

These people will obviously say anything to get people to go see this movie in theaters. And Fox has let slip fake run times before.

So they doomed the box office overseas, especially in the place where Dragonball was created? If they really wanted to stop the downloading they would have released it around the world at about the same time. I'm not buying it.

It doesn't matter if they add 20 minutes to the movie because the other 88 minutes is still going to be garbage! The fight scenes will still suck, the acting will still be mediocre at best, and the special fx aren't going to improve one bit! The movie is trash. Nobody knows about it, the ones that do don't care about it, and it'll probably only make 6 million dollars on it's opening weekend. It's been one for this movie.

I agree. The problems with this film are deeply rooted. The most the extra time will do is maybe make the plot make some lick of sense, but it will still have terrible acting, action, special effects, editing, etc.

Fox is sweeping this movie under the rug plain and simple.

Pushing it to April 10 is proof.

They promoted the movie mainly in Asia. They've hardly promoted it here. And it bombed in Asia.

Plus, sorry to break it to you guys...

But a longer movie with MORE bad dialogue, bad acting, and cheesy WB style effects... how does that make it better?

now i remember. he really said that in video interviews. and nothing was in the movie.

It opened #1 in a heck of a lot of asian markets. I wouldn't say thats 'bombing'. Street Fighter bombed hardcore everywhere.

I dont get why Fox pushed it back to the 10th. Maybe to get it to open in more theaters. I hope that the 100 min running time for the NA cut im hearing is true. They can add back some scenes that explained some of those plot holes but were cut out in the Asia cut. Or maybe actually show some more Bulma-Yamcha relationship scenes.

Even if it's not bombing it is underperforming.

From boxofficemojo.

First Week:
Opening in Asia a few weeks before its domestic release, Dragonball Evolution grabbed only $9.7 million from nearly the entire region. The adaptation of a manga comic book was dreadful in Taiwan ($113,000), poor in Singapore ($384,042), mediocre in Hong Kong ($453,783) and so-so in South Korea ($1.2 million). Meanwhile in Japan, the birthplace of the manga series, it grossed a sizeable but disappointing $3.2 million in its three-day start. China ($3.1 million) and Malaysia ($742,225) were Dragonball's best markets by far.

Second Week:
Meanwhile, Dragonball Evolution had one of the steepest drops Japan's Top Ten has seen recently. The manga comic book adaptation tumbled 60 percent in a market where most movies never fall more than 40 percent. Overall, Dragonball has been unimpressive with $17.8 million from eight markets in two weeks.

Its won almost as much, and just in Asia markets alone, in one week than Street Fighter did in its entire run. Hopefully its still gonna get around 200 million, maybe 300million worldwide. I hope it gets enough for a sequel cuz if there's no sequel then we definitely wont be seeing Goku on the big screen for a long time again, maybe ever.

Honestly, I prefer to not see Dragonball on the big screen ever again, than to endure another crap movie by FOX, with the name Dragonball being slapped on.

I agree. I'd rather just sit back and enjoy the manga/anime/whatever then have another Dragonball film like this be made. Not only is it not enjoyable but it gives the series a bad reputation.

I just hope that this bombs so bad in the US, that FOX doesn't consider to make another movie, so that some day the rights revert back.

i want to see a DBZ fight on a huge budget. something like GI joe,TF or iron man but with DBZ fights.
matrix gave us just a tease.

That would be good more than bad because it means we wouldn't see more **** like this.

Talking about how much better the movie is doing than Street Fighter is NOT impressive.
