I've heard that only the Mets and Yankees name come up for Santana. I wonder if Seattle will try to get him. I doubt they have anything good to give up though.

It's unlikely Santana will be traded to an AL team. Part of the reason in trading him is to get him out of the league. Yankees also don't have any good prospects to part with. Their guys like Hughes and Melky are grossly overrated. They don't seem to have any super-star position players in their farm system they could part with. Mets don't have much either since the Twins are loaded with pitching and the Mets farm is mostly pitching. Mets would need to get a 3rd team (like the Rangers) involved to get Santana. Mets would get Santana, Twins would get Blalock, Botts, Milledge, and some money, Rangers would get Humber, Heilman, and a B-level pitcher. Probably won't happen. Just something I thought of when I was having trouble falling asleep.

Cubs have too much money tied up in Zambrano, Ramirez, Lee, and Soriano. Braves seem to be in a "win later, shave the payroll" mode. Plus they just need a 4th or 5th starter.

That 4th or 5th starter might be Schilling or Glavine. Kerry Wood is out there too. I'm sure the Yankees will make a run for him with Girardi as coach. I don't want him, but he might be a good reliever in the long run. With all his injuries though, he might not be worth it.

I am going to punch Eric Byrnes if I ever meet him in real life.

Atlanta will likely stick with Glavine and one of their young guys to fill the rotation. Wood will likely stay with the Cubs since he feels he owes it to the fans and organization.

I would like to but I can't. He ended Peavy's 9-consecutive strikeouts to preserve Tom Seaver's record of 10-consecutive strikeouts, keeping his name alone in the record books.

There's a ton of teams that are intrested. I think he ends up with either the Angles, Dodgers or the Cubs.

EDIT: The teams intrested are Angles, Dodgers, Cubs, Red Sox, Marlins, Tigers, Mariners, Rangers, Giants, and Mets. The Yankees can still negotiate with him but made it clear they wouldn't when he opted out of his contract.

So the Yanks will get nothing for him.

What the chances he goes to the Cubs?

Slim chance. The Cubs will not go after a lot of free agents this season because they are trying to sell the team. For A-Rod to go there they would have to make a lot of changes. A-Rod would have to become SS cause Aramis Rameriez is at 3rd till 2011. The only reason he may go there is because of Lou Pinnela.

But there's no basis to that.

Cubs made the playoffs, hardly an AAA team.

So L.A, it is then?

A-Rod could go to many places at this point, heck I heard FLORIDA on the radio this morning? Florida?

I have strong feeling it will be a team in L.A. The Angels and Dodgers both need a strong bat. The Angles at this point are the top contender.

Florida has come up cause he's a Miami boy. If they get him, they would likely trade Miguel Cabrera to New York or Boston. I honestly think they have a 0% chance of getting him.

I agree with you there, what was their payroll last season?

So it would double their payroll if they were too sign A-Rod.

I'd take A-Rod at SS rather than at 3rd.

Yeah Kerry Wood can't handle the starter's role anymore. Keep him in middle relief or as a set up man.

My uncle taunted him from his seats in the NLCS:

My uncle is the guy in green with the towel...my aunt is laughing next to him.

(Incidentally, this was where I was sitting for games 3 & 4 ;))
