Comics Official (adjectiveless) X-MEN Discussion Thread

I'd like to see Bobby as a mentor for the younger mutants. He's 1 of the most experienced X-Men, but he's also young enough to relate to the kids. I think it'd be perfect for him.

hes only a year or two younger than Scott. Kitty and Jubilee relate to the kids better than he does. he just still has a sense of humor.

Maybe with the latest crisis over they can go back to squads a little.

Not gonna happen. The writers and editors all agree that they didn't like the squad system for the X-Men. It creates this lotto system where several writers would want to use the same characters, creating these situations where writers have to grab whatever character they can find (even if they have no real intention of using them, or if they simply don't know how to use them) just to fill out a roster.

Instead, all characters are up for grabs. Any writer can use any character they want in X-Men Legacy, X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, and Uncanny X-Men. It just so happens that they're using all the same characters. X-Force and New Mutants are exceptions because X-Force is a secret squad with a specific purpose, and New Mutants is simply a reunion title for the sake of nostalgia. The X-Club is also a separate team, but they rarely ever leave the base and individual members of that team pop up whenever someone needs to use a scientist.

As much as I would love to see the squads return, the writers like being able to use any character they want in any given storyline too much.

He's young at heart. :yay:

It'd still be a good role for him, imo. He's the cool teacher. :woot:

Gischler has said in interview that after the vampire storyline is over this book will have a cxore group of 4 or 5 characters. A squad within the larger team, like X-Force and New Mutants. I think only Uncanny will have the army thing.

id be cool with that. i enjoy what Fraction is doing with the title, but the thing thats been missing were the personal character moments outside Scott's council. i still feel 'Legacy' shouldve filled that role, but at least now we have a book doing it.

That would be nice, especially if Gambit is one of them. :D

I have a feeling Jubes will stick around, probably repaired on his team. I think once the vampire arc is over, she'll rejoin the team with powers.

How weird would it be if vampirism cured Wanda's hex?

i didnt think Colossus's hair could get messed up while in metal form.

It can't

Damn, this book couldn't suck any more.

Colossus wasnt supposed to be in metal form there. Its colored wrong. He doesnt have his signature steel lines in that shot that he has in the others. Marvel has been making ALOT of coloring mistakes over the last year so this is no surprise. Hopefully someone catches it before it goes to print

Hey, anyone remember when the early preview pages for New Mutants #1 came out, and Karma was a dirty blond with blue eyes?

Wonder why he powered down for those 2 shots. I agree with you though.

Maybe it had something to do with the water tower and Storm's lightning. Didn't want to act as a lightning rod?

I don't know.

haha, yea thts what I instantly thoguht of. Thankfully that was correted before it made it to print. Even worse I remeber on a cover for Second Coming, they had Cipher, the black girl with the dreads insted of Cypher, the blonde New Mutant, with the rest of the team.

Okay I'm not reading every post in this thread but I'm seeing a lot people talking crap on this book but I'll just be one of the few to say I really dig this book. So yeah it's about Vampires and yes Vampires are trendy right now but this is a really fun book and should have been done a long time ago. And even if it is following a trend, so what, Blackest Night did the same thing with the Zombie craz and that book was freakin awesome! Okay you may now rip me to shreds.

PS It KILLS me! Victor Gishler was signing comics at my comic shop a couple of weeks ago and I didn't know about it and I missed me! Sorry I just had to share that because I'm still crying like a little baby over it!
