How much do you want to bet this is only done to give teen Cyclops more angst and Jean once again gets reduced to an object to develop the men around her?

Between this and Bendis currently deconstructing her confidence and power, I'm seriously questioning my Jean Grey fandom. Here's hoping that real Jean comes back and totally vindicates teen Jean (/fanwank).

I think the problem with teen Jean is a lack of Prof X. him not being there to help her come into her powers. lets face it she is doing what most of us would do if we could read minds and stuff.

But I just hate Captain America and the Uncanny Avengers. I like most of the characters on the team in other books, but I haven't read anything that makes me actually like this team.

Maybe I just haven't read enough featuring her but whenever I see Rachel I can't help thinking "Cheap knock off."

I don't like how Cap gets written around the X-Men lately. It's like there's no other way to make Racer-X-Cyclops and co look good than to dump on Cap.

I have to agree I do not like the older Beast. Molly is ok lady Xorn is just Xorn in a dress. No real ideas put into their design me thinks. Kinda like the uncanny team's costumes with the exception of Cyc.

Other than the original 5 offered in this book I really don't care to see another alternate version of X-men. It's getting more than a tad overused.

Maybe what Jean needs is to hang around another telepath, maybe Rachel, someone to guide her and maybe help her come to grips with her new found gift, since Prof. X is not around to help.

Neither actually. There was a character in a one-shot that people thought might be Nate Grey or Cable but it ended up being an original character who had rejected Xavier in the modern world. As for Gambit, the only thing I can think of was a similar cop-out. There was an arc where this guy could raise the dead and he raised what looked like some modern X-Men, but they ended up just being some mutants with similar powers. Gambit, Colossus, and Wolfesbane were among the teases, and someone else I think.

Unless you're thinking of Witness from Bishop's future, who is also not Gambit but his own character. I think he ended up dying in the Blinded by the Light arc that led into Messiah Complex.
