Apocalypse Official Apocalypse Blu-Ray/DVD thread

Yeah just caught the bit of jubilees powers... abit quick and brief to really judge on her powers unfortunately but the back and forth between scott and jean was cute

I really dug seeing them play all the retro games and it was cool to see Jubilee do something. It's a fun little scene.

I don't think the montage as a whole worked the way it's edited and where it would have been placed in the film (there's already two music montages around this time) but there are some good moments here that they could have chopped up and played differently. Could have left a few moments in the mall in the theatrical imo.

You can definitely see the effort that they really wanted to do some fun stuff with the team. So that's cool.

Watching the film again I'd hope my mind would change about things, but this really should have been a film strictly about the team and with a different villain. All things on the Apocalypse side are pretty bad except for the intro and he's just not the right villain for the younger team.

I downloaded the digital copy. The deleted scenes are great.

They really cut out a ton of Jubilee, and not just from the mall scenes. I don't see why they chopped her parts up so much, as they didn't take away from the film's experience. The classroom scene actually shows Xavier teaching the students, and Jubilee gets a few lines there and good close ups. It only lasts for a bit before Cyclops is introduced, but it was good. Then, when Beast gives Cyclops the glasses on the lawn, Jubilee briefly goes over to them to tell Beast that someone is in the mansion for a visit (Mystique,) just before Scott walks over to Jean. Again, didn't need to be cut. Then, Jubilee actually shows Kurt around the school and has more lines with him. It was fun, cute, and felt better than the chopped up version from the theatrical release. Cutting her brief parts out of those scenes in my opinion actually hurt the film... Since many people complained that the girl in the yellow coat/Jubilee just showed up randomly and didn't have any context.
The mall scene was funny, cute, and really cool. I personally would've enjoyed the film 10x more with these scenes.

wow! these designs look so much better than the actual produced costumes in the movie: more details, more polished and somehow lighter and less boxy. Nightcrawler's hair was so horrendous in the movie. also so much better here!

this is actually a pretty amazing X-Men roster right there! (minus Mystique! ;-))

Ooh now I'm hyped to see the mall scene. I'm glad that the Boy George scene was there, that was something that the crew decided to put in once they saw those comparisons between Sophie and Boy George online.

Singer's always tried to do right by Jean, and the creative crew had their hearts in the right places when it came to redeeming Scott and bringing the younger crew into the fold, so I'm glad that the mall scene does exist and is fun. It's probably all X-Men Evolution-y! (Haven't seen the scene so I can't compare)

Too bad this film bit off more than it could chew.

Those costumes are cool. I'm glad Singer and Mingenbach went blue/yellow there vs black/yellow for Jean. Give it more accentuated shoulder pads and so it's not just like one suit and we're good. Storm being gray/silver is a good compromise, glad they didn't go black there. Should CGI the cape like Superman next film though.

there was total X-Men evolution vibe to nightcrawler and idea of kids leaving mansion on mall.

Plenty to like with Cyclops and Jean in Apocalypse.

The horsemen look pretty cool there. Apocalypse, not so much. He's just so small, with big feet, like a puppy. The suit itself is fine, he's just undersized. Example:

Better?

Exactly !!!

so, I want extended cut for Psylocke vs Beast

Any other notable deleted scenes?
There was Fassy singing to Anya and Magda in the forest after they were killed that made Singer cry behind the camera, but we already knew about that one.

There was an extended mansion rebuilding scene, with Raven/Charles and Hank/Scott convos. We see Hank as Beast proper and Scott with his visor, saying he hopes the other kids don't call him 'Cyclops'. But these are caps I got off Twitter and stuff, there's definitely way more out there.

In the bloopers, Nic is goofing around a bit in his final Beast costume and it actually looks pretty good there compared to the Empire pics we got. Don't need all the padding, but it's not as bulky and does a good job of breaking up the blue.

Looking at some of the deleted scenes there was definitely an attempt to inject alot more humour into the movie compared to the previous ones between nightcrawler to quicksilver ect ect.

I am assuming there may have been some improvisation going on also for some of the humour.

There is a deleted scene for anyone whose curious with some dialogue between xavier and storm

He tells her he knows she doesn't wanna be apart of this and she replies "you don't know me" and mentions how people thought of her as a curse to the earth to which charles replies "you gonna prove them right?" then she walks off

So I just watched the FC Trilogy. Not bad.

Storm needed more to do and the more practical set pieces were better than the cg ones, but overall I really enjoyed Apocalypse and especially the callbacks to First Class.

Kind of mad Singer cut out the mall scene. Was a great character moment; something that was severely lacking for the students.

The scene with Charles and Mystique at the end in the above mentioned caps has Charles recite a bit of what Logan told him near the end of DOFP ("Storm, Scott...Jean. There's so many of them") in addition to acknowledging that he has to train these children to use their powers to protect others. There's a few videos circulating here and there if you're willing to search. Moira also arrests Stryker, but I can see why that was deleted.

Good to see they included that Storm scene that JP mentioned months back. I don't need the mall scene, but that Storm scene needed to be there. No need for three musical montages in a film. Especially since they may have happened consecutively.

having seen the deleted scenes i feel the ones that should have been in film is the xavier talking to storm and stuff outside the mansion before xavier and magneto's farewell.

not including the Storm and Xavier conversation was such a huge mistake! :csad:

(I somehow understand that this rock scene was particular long and they felt the need to shorten it...but sometimes content is more important than pasing)

honestly a scene like this would have been so tremendously necessary and I cannot believe Singer ****ed up Storm as a character again like this. I said it before and I say it again: lazy identification pattern, if a character is not white these white directors will not see the character! Storm is invisible for Singer for 16 years. 2 or 3 minutes more of dialogue in the script for a beloved character like Storm who has such large fanbase and was present in the first trilogy would have been a matter of respect...very disappointing, Singer. And I'm not really a particular big Storm fan but this was just a very ****** move!
