it's true, S-Snyderites are always acting like we're attacking them personnally as soon as we dare criticize some of snyder's work.

People act like we want to not like Snyder's work or something lol

Nobody wants to buy or read comic books that they don't end up enjoying.

I'm another one that also enjoyed Black Mirror a lot. Thought Gates of Gotham and Court of Owls were ok but Death of the Family was so uninteresting and uneventful that I didn't even finish it.

I gave him another shot with Zero Year and while it dragged in the beginning I enjoyed it enough to stick with it. That was till after the Dr. Death encounter. Then it completely lost me. Now that he's going back to using The Joker again I won't even bother. At this point I think I'll avoid Batman until a new writer comes aboard.

I do plan on getting back into 'tec and Batman & Robin soon though.

The Snyder hate definitely got excessive at times. It's not been as bad recently, but I know for awhile this thread was pretty much just the same bunch of you saying the same stuff, ****ing on every issue in more or less the same way. I don't think it's an issue of anyone disliking his work, like you guys always want to turn it into. It's fine to dislike his work, but there's a point where it just becomes excessive *****ing, especially when there isn't anyone who seems to like Snyder's work who posts here consistently to even it out.

Like I said, though, it's not been so bad recently. It was at a point a few months ago where you could pretty time the same exact hateful comments from the exact same people whenever an issue of Snyder's Batman came out.

'Tec has been really solid since Buccaletto and Manapul came on.

I was really hoping for more with the John Layman/Jason Fabok run, but sadly it was ultimately forgettable.

It was MILES better than the disastrous Tony Daniel run and Fabok is a wonderful artist, but it still remained flat and ended on a whimper.

Will look into it. I really liked their work on The Flash. They started with issue #28 right?

I was enjoying that run a lot but never got to finish it. I skipped Tony Daniel's altogether. Just don't like his writing at all even though I enjoy his art.

#30

They've done 4 issues so far, one arc, latest two issues have been a 2-part fill in story with awesome John Paul Leon art.

Thanks  will pick those up with my weekly comics tomorrow.

Just put down 'tec 36. This Terminal two-parter is some of the best comics I've read in a while. I didn't expect them to utilise Grayson's new role in there as well, and it really worked.

Speaking of Dick, his new series really is just fantastic. The bat books are just stellar right now.

I've been reading Batman, Batman and Robin, Batman Incorporated, and Batman Eternal since they started, but I've been getting caught up on Dark Knight and Detective Comics recently. I've now read all of Dark Knight and just finished Layman's run on Detective (leaving only Manipul's and then the current writer's two-parter and I'm caught up). So far, I'm very impressed.

I read the first arc of the Dark Knight when it was new, the one with Bane. It was pretty much the Michael Bay version of a Batman story. I liked it but not enough to keep going on the title. I shouldn't have kept going. I ended up LOVING Hurwitz' run. His Scarecrow arc was one of the the best New 52 Bat stories so far. I think I would have liked his Mad Hatter arc just as much (and I don't even care for that character) but the art change took me out of it. And what he did with the last two issues, the Man-Bat story, was phenomenal. He planted the seeds to make Man-Bat and his father Batman's equivalent of Spider-Man's Norman and Harry Osborne. It's a shame that he left the bat books after that. I'd love to see someone pick up on that.

As for Detective, I never did bother with that title. Well, I agree that Daniel's run wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as people say it is. I actually really liked the first arc with the Dollmaker. I was getting bored of it by the end of his run though. Then came Layman, and I honestly think his run was great only made better by Fabok's art. It started wonderfully with Penguin, Emperor Penguin (who I greatly enjoyed), and the intermingling Wraith and Man-Bat stories. The Zero Year issue was the best tie-in that I've read thus far, and the Zero issue and the issue that followed up on that with Ras Al Ghul were both good. Sadly, Layman's run ended pretty unspectacularly with Gothtopia, which I felt was a gigantic snoozefest... but then, I don't like alternate takes in comics. I'm eager to finish up this title tomorrow. I loved Manipul's take on Flash; I'm eager to see what he does with Gotham.

So yeah, this was a great project. I still think Tomasi's Batman and Robin is the best run of the bunch, but Layman's Detective run is up there, as is Hurwitz' Dark Knight. I like Snyder a lot as well, but not quite as much as those other three.

I figure I might try to get caught up on Batman Superman next, but we'll see. I did read the first arc and enjoyed it, but I tried and couldn't stay interested in the second. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

All-in-all though, I've really been enjoying Batman since the New 52 started. Definitely my favorite corner of comics.

I tried, so hard to like Grayson. But i can't. I usually have issues enjoying books that take a character i have loved for a lifetime, and make them into a character that isn't recognizable. Some people enjoy that, im not one of them. Dick Grayson, super spy agent just does nothing for me

I just caught up with it this week. Pretty serviceable stuff. Not as good as Layman's early stuff but intriguing nonetheless. Definitely gonna keep it on the pull list for a while.

I found the first couple of issues of Grayson very rough. The art was great but the narrative was kinda bland and the dialogue was very sketchy to say the least. Might give it another shot though to see how Midnighter Vs. Grayson played out. Batman analogue vs Batman's #1 protege is pretty appealing.

The Future's End Grayson issue was one of the best things I've read since Batman Incorporated ended.

So, every character in Gotham has a WWII haircut?

Hair styles from that era are actually back in vogue. I'm more curious about how he got his face back?

I understand that, I really like the haircut (Brad Pitt in Fury) but this is the same haircut Capullo gave Reboot Bruce in Zero Year, heck Lucius had it as well just a little more high-top...

I think...
He will somehow be possessing the body of Eric Border. Its subtly hinted because he works at Arkham and has multiple interactions with Batman. And also his body type and hair style are one in the same.

Snyder has also said regarding us findin out more about his face.

Snyder: Yes, you'll learn. There will be different possibilities. But there will be one that really sticks out as, this is probably why that happened. Yeah.

this was probably my least favorite issue of eternal. It was boring, and Bruce was utterly incompetent. A true moron. I mean come on, he's so afraid of hush that he's nearly peeing himself, and he doesn't even check the batcave after Hush came in the manor? That doesn't make sense at all, making the cliffangher really contrived and stupid. I've really loved eternal so far, but this issue was stupid.

Batman 36 showed us both the batgod and the batmoron. I liked the scene with Alfred and Julia. I like it when Bruce is nice with his family.

Batman 36 was a very good read, and not entirely what I expected - much better than #35 (which I enjoyed but wasn't overly enthusiastic about).

I'm now caught up on Detective. Manipul and Buccellato's arc was a little underwhelming for me, though it looked awfully pretty. The Terminal two-parter that came after though was amazing. I have no clue who Percy is, but I like his style. And I've loved Leon's art ever since Earth X. He's a great fit for this title. I've not look to see what comes after this, but I hope to see more of this team.
