Comics Official CABLE and DEADPOOL Discussion Thread

I like the dynamic of Cable. How he's constantly on the run and had to leave EVERYTHING behind to save the messiah mutant. And add to the fact that he can only go forward more and more in time, ya gotta think how lonely that's gotta be for him.

The book's been sorely underrated by many critics as well as fans, and it's too bad. It started off strong, and it's only gotten better.

And stop whining about Bishop, for crap's sake. (Not you, SouLeSS.)

So, the girl finally gets a name. Kinda cliche with who she's supposed to be, but it fits, with how it comes about that he gives her the name:

Hope Summers.

Good, I think it suits her (the supposed purpose of her character).

and that name just so happens to be the name of her foster mother who she looks exactly like and even dresses the same. Yeah, Im still thinking they are the same.

I feel strongly disturbed by the idea/possibility of Cable married the baby girl he raised up.

Here's hoping it's because Cable didn't know much about girl names so he just let the baby take on her foster mother's own.

yeah I kind of feel the same way but there are too many similiarities. I wonder if they are simply coincidences or if Marvel intentionally did this

As far as we know Hope(Cable's woman) didn't have any powers. So hopefully little Hope gets some powers soon and the 2 can finally not be the same person.

“HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?” PART 1 OF 2

Remember when Deadpool saved the Earth from those pesky Skrulls? Well, the guy who stole the intel Deadpool worked so hard to acquire -- and positioned himself as Earth’s Number One War Hero -- wants to make sure you don’t. The last thing this guy needs is a certain “Merc with a Mouth” letting everyone know the truth of how he saved the day, and he’s hired a certain maniacal man-eater to make sure Deadpool never does. Here comes Tiger-Shark! Plus, a surprise appearance by a certain palindromic pal!

Medina. I was wondering where he went. Loved him in New X-men and I only read the first few issues of New Warriors. Im glad he's found a new book, although I wish it were one I was reading

Love the art and love the stories. Deadpool is great. My favorite comic right now.

He's definitely gotten a lot better from his Academy X days where he drew horrible noses. Seriously, some of the women would give Beak, post M-Day pre New Warriors, a run for their money.

Despite the similarities of their appearances (and, I suppose, actions, in that they both <3 Cable and would follow him anywhere), I don't see how there's any way that little Hope could grow up to be big Hope. Swiercyznski would have to pull off something absolutely amazing to make that work.

If this kid is indeed supposed to do something amazing as part of being some messiah, or even some possible messiah, it's impossible (from what we've seen) for her to do that from New Liberty (which probably won't be revisited). The only flaw here is that we obviously went to New Liberty for a reason, and the older Hope was obviously introduced for a reason, and that can't be discounted.

Even if Cable takes the path of not wanting the kid to be confined to destiny, finds some way to travel back in time, and decides to leave her in New Liberty so she can be protected - at this point, that means putting her there with the knowledge that, when the loop completes, his younger self is going to meet her older self, live with her, raise her as a kid, and eventually lead her to her death. And seriously, that's a pretty prick thing to do.

Yeah, and that reason was to give the girl a name. So I'm sure the older Hope's role is over and done with.

and this is why time travelling confuses the heck out of me. It completely does away with rational logic and its an easy out for writers to do what they want. Hope may have ended up peaceful and a relatively good place in New Liberty, but who's to say that Bishop's quest to kill her is what sets off a chain reaction which causes her powers to emerge and bring about the destruction he's been trying to stop? This would effectively change the future we are seeing in Cable with the kid. As we've seen there's no one set path and theres an infinite number of futures and alternate realities out there.

Yes, which is what I figure. There's just the potential for it to all be something more, too, because of the resemblance of appearance, even though that is easily explainable as well.

You're kind of getting ahead of yourself there, and outside the original matter. But, really, the only time travel stories that do that - do away with rational logic and make for an easy out for writers to do what they want - are bad time travel stories, which I'm doubting this is going to become, because Swiercyznski is an obviously strong writer. But sure, time travel stories can get confusing.

You should expose yourself to the Legacy of Kain series. Those games' storyline is probably the finest example of time travel ever done, though unfortunately unfinished.

exactly? so why all this bs? i want some resolution to this Messiah crap already.

sorry bastardo(welcome back by the way, you have been spotty lately). but dammit. i need Bishop as a good guy again. there are no positive black role models in the x-men anymore. oh wait...bishop isnt black...well not african american anymore.

War Machine son!

Oh yeah, they're in the process of turning him into a robot and ruining him

Ive played that series. Soul Reaver was my favorite game at the time of its release but unfortunately the PS2 sequels sucked.

What about Storm? I think she'd qualify. Prodigy's also another positive one and they really need to use him more often.
