First Avenger OFFICIAL: Chris Evans is Captain America

That costume is awesome
I want this poster.

That's something in a trailer that's out of context and cut around.

Blake Lively's "This test today - it's important" line sounded better in the film. At least better sounding than the trailer.

true, but I'm talking about the way he looks, not just the delivery of a line.

His line delivery is perfect. He looks heroic. I was doubtful of Evans at first but then my reaction turned from "hmm I guess it could work" to "this is flawless."

Ok, as much as I am interested in the film, I have not kept up on the Cap news. But in the scenes from the trailers and such, is that Chris Evans as the non-super soldier kid in the beginning of the film? Caus eI know its probably CG and camera tricks to make him look so small and scrawny, but something about it just looks unnatural to me for some reason. I just kept thinking he looked weird to me through the whole trailer. Not really a problem for me, but it was distracting for some reason.

Yes it is Chris Evans, changed through computer body-shrinking technology.

Looking at those Hemsworth photos makes me really jealous that we didn't get him for Superman before he did Thor.

Why? Hemsworth was a great fit for Thor and Cavill will make a great Superman.

It's perfect the way it is.

Hemsworth would've been a great Aquaman. But he's perfect for Thor, so that's great too.

Cavill will be fantastic as Superman. Evans will rock as Cap too. I have no doubt.

I still can't get past the fact that they cast someone who would be perfect for Deadpool as Hal Jordan. Just seem silly to me.

I think Evans will bring an interesting take on this incarnation of the character. It's not my favourite Cap, but it sure seems like it works.

The movie looks great but Evans still look too ordinary "guy next door" to me.

Are you serious? If I lived next door to somebody who looked like Evans as Cap, i'd probably turn gay.

Yup......

Isn't that kinda the point? Captain America isn't a male model, or someone with the most handsome face on the planet. He's a small, weedy guy with normal looks who just happens to to undergo a process which transforms his physique into that of an Adonis. In that respect, I think Evans looks perfect from what we've seen so far of skinny Steve and super-Steve.

Agreed. I think Super-Soldier Steve looks more than heroic, but his face is full of character and humanity. You get a block headed, male model and he would have looked ridiculous as the skinny Steve. I think it's more important that you buy into him as a real person, with heart than you buy into him being a superhero. Once he's buff and in costume, you know he's the superhero, but Steve Rogers is what makes Cap unique among other Superheroes. He's the kinda guy who would save the world from global domination on a friday, and then help you move furniture to a new flat on Saturday :P

That's why I think John Krasinski would have made a great Cap.

I think I may be 1 of the few that does not automatically dismiss that statement.
Evans seems to be a on the ball tho. So that makes me happy.

No, Cap would help you move into your new apartment.

America dammit!!

lol:woot:

He looks like the guy from Tron: Legacy in that picture.

Thank goodness! I figured he'd be getting the cover of Men's Health before CA came out. Glad I wasn't mistaken. *dem abs* :wow:

I don't mean to bash or anything 'cos I am interested in seeing the film, it looks fun but I can understand where this post is coming from...

Not so much the visual side of things, it's more the voice. His voice doesn't seem to fit with the small and scrawny image. Maybe would have worked a little better if they had slightly tweaked his voice, nothing major, just a subtle shift, just to maybe make it a bit softer...

And watching that newest tv spot I got to wondering - does anyone else think that the after credits scene might possibly be a shot of avengers, probably not in uniform but possibly finding cap in ice.. That would be pretty cool considering this is the lead in movie now to Avengers.

my understanding is they digitally made his head bigger then the rest of his body.
That could be their way of saying they patched his normal sized head on a scrawny body.
It looks unnatural because it is.
But their only other option was to have somebody else play the"pre Cap" Steve Rogers .

Pre-serum Steve looks amazing. I don't understand the people that say it looks fake. The truth is that people who are actually that short and scrawny do look weird and unnatural.

I just show folks a pic of DJ Qualls. THAT guy looks a bit off 'cause of his lack of wieght.

I assume that people think if you're scrawny your head should be smaller as well. But it doesn't work that way.
