Official Contest of Marvels II Discussion Thread

The only Wii games I've played are Sports, Zelda, Madden, and Marvel Ultimate.

I'm addicted to Wii Sports. I haven't played Zelda as much as I wanted, but now that I've gotten through the introductory missions and have the sword, the fun value has gone way up.

A few of us get together during lunch and play at work (Tennis is so awesome with four people). That where I played Madden and Marvel.

Madden we played for about five minutes without reading the instructions, so we were totally lost. But my friend who owns it says it starts getting fun once you get passed the learning curve.

Marvel was cool. We only played for about 15 minutes though. It was so dark on our work tv it was hard to see and play as a team. But being Spidey is soooo cool.

I haven't bought any games online yet, although I'll probably get Zelda. I did download the browser trial. It's pretty rough, but makes me look forward to the full version.

Just looked at my upcoming two matches. I am so ready for both of them. One's a virtual lock, since I'm facing one of Powder's characters; and, the other I think I have a good battle strategy for. I've got Hellion vs. Bloodaxe(my character) and Calypso vs. Emma Frost(my character).

The only problem I see is that we might not have too many people participating....so, the week might get extended. Things have been rather slow on the hype.

I got my first shipment from mycomicshop.com yesterday, and while their prices are much better than milehighcomics.com (unless you have an excellent discount code, like they are currently running), they do deliver most of their comics unbagged. (I believe about 5 of 87 comics had bags; and, they were the old type from the early 90's.) I will say they are in pretty good condition, and they do package them safely. My favorite thing about them, though, is the fact they carry many of the comics that milehigh doesn't seem to have in stock.

Also, I've been buying the Disney Treasures DVDs since they first came out quite a few years ago. They always come in a silver container, and only offer them for a short time. Anyway, this year, instead of the usual 4, Disney put out 8. This year, they released 4 of their popular True-Life Adventure DVDs for the first time, and I have gotten two of them so far. I was watching it with my daughter, and it really took me back. I love how they package them in circular tins, just like the old tins that used to hold old movie reels. Heck, I even saw these old classics in Elementary School back in the early 70's.

Man, I'm so oldschool. Everyone's talking about the Wii and the 360 and such... and what did I play on Christmas.... Pacman. Yep, my brother-in-law and I (not AnnoyingSilence, the other one) sat down and played it for about an hour. I got pretty good after while, being that I haven't played Pacman since I was maybe 9. In the end he won the tourney with high score of 39,000 give or take. I don't know, but I just can't get into today's systems. I'll randomly like a game of my brother's (like current X-Men Legends), but overall, I wouldn't spend money on a system of my own. Though I did almost buy a Nintendo at the mall the other day. Not a Nintendo Wii... a Nintendo... as in NES. Good stuff.

Just to let everyone know, I will be posting the battles for the upcoming week when I'm at work tomorrow.

LOCATION:

Ego, the Living Planet:

Known Superhuman Powers: The living planet Ego has been called a "bioverse." Every part of its substance, including its atmosphere, is "alive" inasmuch as it is animated and controlled by the consciousness of Ego. The exact composition of Ego is unknown, but much of the planet's surface, at least, seems to be composed of organic molecules. The planet possesses various internal features which have analogues to parts of living Earth-based organisms. For example, its interior contains tunnels which have been compared to arteries, and the center of Ego's consciousness resides in a brain-like organ deep below its surface. Ego can absorb humanoid-sized living beings into itself and "digest" them in internal areas similar to an Earth beings stomach, using its own analogues to digestive fluids. Just as an Earth organism creates one-celled antibodies to attack foreign substances in its bloodstream, Ego creates humanoid sized anti-body like beings from itself to attack intruders on or beneath its surface. In its encounters with humanoids, Ego has caused the "antibodies" to take semi humanoid form.
Ego generates vast psionic energies which, at their peak, rival those of Galactus. If Ego depletes its energy below a level that it can replenish by itself, it can help renew its energy stories by tapping outside sources, like stars, or absorbing the life forces of large numbers of living beings. At full strength Ego can use its psionic energy to obliterate starships. Ego can also control its own substance psychically. Thus Ego can transform its own surface to resemble a gigantic face, to reach out into space with gigantic tendrils, or to become an idyllic world resembling the most beautiful areas of Earth. Ego can create humanoid beings with great powers out of its own surface and, it claims, command them across interstellar distances. Ego communicates with other beings telepathically.
Ego has used Its great psionic powers to command the immensely powerful sidereal propulsion unit installed at its south pole by Galactus. The unit can propel Ego in and out of hyperspace at vast speeds, and apparently has virtually inexhaustible power.
Limitations: For unknown reasons, Ego is apparently unable to remove the sidereal propulsion unit embedded in its south pole.
Ego's control over its own atmosphere is apparently no match for the power that the thunder god Thor can wield over it using the mystical powers of his enchanted hammer.

(There are lots of websites devoted to Ego. For this battle, Ego will not get involved UNLESS you do something to him to cause him pain. For example, if my character, Terrax, was in this battle, he would have tried to use the planet as a source for fighting War Machine. The problem would have been that Terrax would then be fighting War Machine AND Ego. So, take this into consideration of your character's actions.)

Debating May Begin!!!

(Also, if anyone can find me a bio on Wild Thing from the 2099 Universe, it would be appreciated.)

Dammit! Why couldn't this have been used last week. If only I debated well enough to get a tie! :woot:

She's not 2099. She's MC2. That should help your finding a bio quite a bit.

I automatically assumed he would be referring to Wild-Thing, Wolverine's daughter with Elektra from MC2.

Yeah, that's the one. MC2, thanks. They got mixed up in my mind.

One of these days I'll actually read some of that MC2 stuff. Spidergirl always sound good but I just can't get myself to start in on a title that's so far along (even with the relaunch)

I have a question about Omega Red's deathspores... are they a constant thing or does he turn them on and off?

Sorry, I don't know much about Omega Red. There are lots of websites, I know, for him. Or, maybe someone else knows.

When Red isn't emmiting his pheromone, it acts on his body, slowly killing him. So you can pretty much be sure he's always pumping them out.

Is there any way of viewing the brackets anywhere?

I haven't been making them this season like I did last... hopefully someone else has. Otherwise I might try to make one, though it'd probably take forever. I'm thinking that Wolverine25th had something made, but I could just be imagining that.

I think he might have too, but I was too lazy to go back and look for it.

Now I've got a question. Are the characters told where the battle will take place and prepare/research for it?

Yeah he did make some in Excel (which he sent me earlier) and they're pretty good. They need to be manually updated with the results though which I haven't been doing. I just thought there might be something up to date that Phaed might have that he uses to post the brackets.

Yes, characters will know where the battle's take place. They don't have access to the locations before the battle begins, though. As to research, it's up to what information their character would normally have access to.

Just letting everyone know about a glitch I had about a week ago. I was cleaning out my sent PM box, but somehow it deleted my inbox. Due to this bad luck, Ahura's opening debate was deleted that he sent me before he left for his holiday break. I feel really, really bad about this, and contacted JewishHobbit, asking if it's alright if we do an opening debate for his character; since, it's my fault it got deleted. JH agreed, and volunteer to do Ahura's opening debate for his character, Wither. All he'll be doing is the opening debate, and the only reason why we are going around an established rule about not allowing another person to do your debate was because Ahura did submit something and it would be more unfair to not let his character have a fair chance. (We all know that undebated characters hardly stand a chance of getting a vote.)

I'm sorry for this problem, and I take full responsibility for the error. I hope it doesn't upset anyone. JH and I felt this was the best solution.

Tat's fine by me, my question is, I am still allowed to rebutt Jewish Hobbit's opening for Ahura though right?
