Official Contest of Marvels II Discussion Thread

Voting May Begin!!!

(Remember, you must read through all the debates before you can vote. This should be an important part of your decision when making your votes.)

Just so you guys know...If we have a tie between JH and Ky, even though Ky would win the tie-breaker, I will give out prizes for both winners. I feel both have done such a great job, the match-up of Metalhead vs. Photon really isn't a fair decider in making this decision.

(BTW, if there is a big tie for last place, I'm not going to do the same thing, especially if it ends up being a 4-way tie. That will come up with tie-breakers, if needed.)

Both the characters hellstormer wanted from wolverine25th are debateless and getting owned!!!!! :o

Cause they didn't have debates, lemme get just the opening statement in and they'll win.

Sorry again. It's just not allowed in the rules. Best you can do is explain why you vote a particular way. (If you truly think another character doesn't stand a chance against them, why do you vote for the other person? I know some people want to never vote for an undebated character; but, if I really believe they don't stand a chance, I'd rather see the better character advance, even if he's facing off against one of my characters.)

That's my reason.

Good debates as always Ahura, I/P, and Midnight Ice. Looking through the debates, this is one of the best weeks debate-wise we've had so far IMO.

Wow. It looks like two of Ky's matches are pretty much locked in to win. That leaves two matches determining both outcomes: Moonstone vs. Bishop, which JH is currently losing by only 3 votes (only 2, if you consider JH hasn't voted yet) and Iron Lad vs. Monet St. Croix, which Ky is winning by only 2 votes (only a 1 point lead, if you consider Ice/Psy hasn't voted yet). Grand Prize for Round 1 is as close as it can get. (That darn Black Widow match bites Hippy in the butt....so close.)

I'll have to see how close the losing prize match is.

Ok, usually by the time we have 7 or 8 votes, the results are easy to tell. But, 6 matches are very close. Trigger will definitely have the worst record at 27; Powder will probably end up with 26. Both are not eligible to win the booby-prize. Wolverine25th could very likely then have the worst record (he should be guaranteed 22 by now); but, with 4 matches uncontested this week, it's definitely unfair to give him the booby-prize. (You guys following this?)

So, I see it's down to three contestants: DHR, Midnight Ice, and Zoken. Now, it seems almost guaranteed DHR will lose his match this week, giving him a final total of 22. With how the matches are going, I picture Midnight and Zoken tied at 21 with the following matches determining how good (or bad) they do:

X-ray(MIDNIGHT) vs. Shakti Haddad(WOLV.) 4-3 currently
Karima Shapandar(MIDNIGHT) vs. Fantomex(HELLST.) 5-3 currently
Hybrid(ZOKEN) vs. Joystick(WIEG) 3-5 currently

So, as you can see, it's anyone's game for the booby-prize. Zoken can only tie with DHR; and, Midnight would have to have real bad luck in order to win it all if he loses both matches.

Yeah, me too. Who knew I would ever kinda hope to loose, lol. I could see me loosing both of my matches to get the booby prize, but that is not what I am going for. I think both my characters have a shot at winning. Either way is fine. It will be interesting how things turn out on the round 1 champion and loser.:xmen:

Ours didn't really get a chance to get off the ground thanks to me this week. :csad: I think it could have been the best of our three debates with such even characters if I'd been around over the weekend (which would have given you a chance to defend against my points).

We should have a rematch instead :yay:

Well, seven votes generally guarantees the contestant a tie. If that's the case, then there is only one match now too close to call: Iron Lad(KY) vs. Monet St. Croix(ICE/PSY). Monet is leading, 6-5. One contest that will likely determine the Grand Prize.

As for last place, it's looking like Zoken and DHR will tie. Midnight Ice is just doing too good this week. Now, I have to check out how many times Zoken and DHR fought each other and who has the worst record.

PLUS, I will verify totals. There is always a chance someone got a win that should have been in the loss column.

Oh, if anyone can help me out by going through their characters and seeing if the win/loss record is correct for your list, that would help save me a little time. I just want to verify that I got the figures correct.

not really grand prize thoug, just first round.

I've got my sights set squarely on that issue of ASM

Are we taking a week off or diving right into round 2? I prefer the latter.

I hope not. A one week break, maybe. I think I'd rather go right into round 2. Maybe take a break after that to prepare for the 'big' fights.

It will be a one week break. That way, I can get the new brackets ready, put Primemover's name in the place of Powderman and Trigger's few remaining characters, and we can give away Wolverine25th's characters. Also, I can get addresses, grab some comics to give away to the winners, and have them mailed out before the next round starts.

BTW, I've gone through the following names, checking to make sure the stats are correct: Powderman, Wolverine25th, Trigger, Wiegeabo, and Harlekin. I did discover Wolverine25th and Harlekin's total was off by a point in the win/loss column. The figures have been fixed on the last page we listed the results, page 90 post 2226.

I hope it finishes as a tie so me and KY get the chance to debate this one properly. Whoever gets the prize out of Jewhobs and him is a worthy winner.

Also a one week break suits me quite well. I'm not sure how active I'll be able to be in Round 2 but I'd rather get a chance to see what matches I've got and whether I have a lot in any particular week. It'd also give us time to have an awards ceremony :woot: I can think of a few with Hippy's name on them already.

Ok, I just went through to verify records on the following participants, and everything is correct with their numbers:

Darthphere
Zoken
Hellstormer
Kytrigger
Iceman/Psylocke
Phaedrus45
Midnight Ice
Hippy Fascist
Ahura Mazda
JewishHobbit
Powderman
Trigger
Wiegeabo

These people have had adjustments on their numbers, and figures were checked twice to make sure changes are correct:

Wolverine25th
Harlekin
DarkHellRider

As I go through the names, I'll be editing this list instead of repeating it in further posts.
