Official Contest of Marvels II Discussion Thread

I read Kingdom Come for the first time this weekend having bought the trade. I was amazed by the artwork and I now understand why everyone is raving about it so. Its too bad there are not other comic books done in the same format.

Man, I love Heroes....but, what an anti-climatic battle scene. We knew all the heroes were going to get together at the end...but, the way it happened so happenstance, the ease of killing Sylar...just didn't do it for me. Still, it's a DVD I'll buy come August, and I'm jacked that not only will Volume 2 come in the Fall, but they announced a 6 part miniseries, also, called Heroes: Origins.

Hey why are there barely any write ups? I am going to be very busy tomorrow and am not going to get time to do much so if anyone wants to do a write up please do it by tonight. I will owe you one.

The fight was pathetic. Seriously, Buffy and several shows have had better fights with weaker characters. Maybe this had to do with time/budget? I giggled at the thought of Hiro accidently teleporting to Kyoto though.

I agree. The end fight really did suck, and nothing really changed eihter. Sylar didn't die, so he's still a threat and it seems that most of the heroes aren't really a group yet either. The only thing that could change is that Peter or his brother could be dead, but I highly doubt that.

One thing that bugged me was why didn't Peter fly off on his own? Can he only use one power at a time?

I think Nathan died, but Peter survived because of Claire's power.

And Peter probably couldn't fly because he was losing control of his powers. He was probably doing everything he could just to hold the explosion in.

Yeah, the episode before the finale had the best scene: The guy getting his brain removed.

can you keep debates open till around 2-3 pm tomorrow your time as I'm not going to have time to get mine up tonight and I don't want to put my opponents in the position where they can't rebut

I will keep debates open until shortly before I leave work tomorrow at 5:00 PM PST.

I loved that DL... one of the great minor characters, got such a great defining moment in killing Linderman. As a father and Husband... and a fan of the underdog... that was by far the best scene of the season for me.

And here's my gripe with Peter healing himself after the explosion. If he gets stabbed/shot/etc in that one place in the back of his head, he dies. But if he explodes... and that little place in the back of his head blows into a thousand pieces.... how can he reform when that place is 'disrupted' or whatever. Shouldn't he still be dead then? I guess if he just kinda explodes with energy and not physically he can still be mostly intact when it's through. I guess we'll see when the show comes back. Also, Nathan could have easily survived. He could have let go and flew away quickly before Peter exploded in mid-fall. He is fast and Peter could have convinced him to fly away.

Also, Phaed, what are you talking about a mini origins of Heroes? I've not heard about this.

It was in the latest edition of Entertainment Weekly. It just said there will be a Heroes spin-off, a six part miniseries called Heroes: Origins, and one of the new people we meet from it will be a regular in Season 3.

That's...that's actually a good point. Unless it was just a release of energy (like it looked Ted was doing in Claire's house).

As for Nathan, remember that Ted killed his wife through radiation poisoning. I'm guessing Nathan got a lethal dose right of the bat and knew he wasn't going to survive. And he probably couldn't risk dropping Peter and him not going off until he gets too low.

In case anyone is interested in selling comics, it's 20 cent listing day on ebay.

Might also be a good chance to grab some deals since sellers could sell for lower prices and still get the same (or bigger) profits.

Kristin Vietch on E! News confirmed that Adrian Pasdar and Milo Ventimiglia will be returning, so I doubt Peter and Nathan died. Or at least Nathan will show up post-mortem. As for the healing thing, it always seemed to me that Claire and Peter's healing is just stunted when something gets in the way of the process. For all we know, Claire (and in essence Peter) could survive such a thing.

Hey Trigger! Hope things are going good for you.

Anyway, just so everyone knows, I'll keep debating open for 4 more hours.

You talk as if I just returned. I've been back in action for like, a month now. :o

Great, I should get time to read & vote this week

What stage is the tournament at now?

Did you have any characters left at the beginning of Round 3? :yay:

 Did Phaedrus, jewhobs, wieg, ky, Harlekin & co all leave or did you get byes?

Refresh my memory on the triumvirate of power - I can vaguely recall Beta Ray Bill, Agatha Harkness & Enchantress???
