LastSunrise1981 said:All Kinberg and Penn had to do was be honest from the start. Instead they sent out lies, empty promises, and 100% hype. "Cyclops fans will not be disappointed".
That right there is a lie told by them. So no, they don't get any sympathy from me.
ntcrawler said:Oh hey man, you're abo****ely right! Cyclops fans won't be disappointed? Well sure, we got to see Cyclops. I guess. We certainly got to see him. No I'm not disappointed, I am royally. ticked. off. It's true then, that those publicity shots of him in uniform and standing with the rest of his team next to the Golden Gate bridge were there to throw us off (no pun intended). Empty promises and lies is right.
oneteen said:Absolutely agreed. There will always be a debate on who's to blame, but we shouldn't waste our time on that...X3 has passed..it's over.
DarknessOfDeath said:Okay, well we all agree on a few things but the main thing is this: Cyclops dying was BS- that we all agree upon on.

DarknessOfDeath said:That, I won't forgive. Why even bother to reveal those publicity shots of him in uniform and not have him at the battle in the movie? what a waste. but again, its about marketing and thats what fox wasted half their budget on than making a really epic movie of what it should have been.
Mike059jig said:I alway thought it was the writers to blame for killing Cyclops off and Fox...If they writers were smart they would keep cyclops scene in begining and make him leave..then Don't introduce pheonix at all...Save her for another movie X4...and stick to the cure story line....simple as that...X3 wouldn't be the most hated X-men movie in the franchise
ntcrawler said:Funny, isn't it? They spent almost enough money on marketting and hype to make a movie with. It makes you wonder how insecure they were if they went to that much trouble just to get the general public, their best friends, grandmothers, and kitchen sink to see their movie

ntcrawler said:Something else I don't get. Why are they so obsessed with ending things?
X3: The Last Stand. The Final One. The Big End. No More. Dead End. Caput.
Did we make them mad or something? Do they not want to play with us anymore? Why are they so quick to kill off or dead-end most of the cast and run the plots into a wall? What's wrong with keeping things open and making more movies? Do they not like making movies?
CapBeerCino said:I kept asking that and what I got is: Tom Rothman hated x-men from day 1.
Still makes no sense... I guess it's just one of those things we'll find out in "true hollywood stories" when a bunch of old people from Fox reminisce.
ntcrawler said:Then you end up in a vicious circle. If he hates it why did they snatch up the rights from Marvel? Answer: land-grab. Result: "You people like that character, don't you? watch us turn her evil. You love that character over there? watch him die, bwahahahaha"
It's such a shame. You have a great cast who enjoyed what they were doing and most probably won't get a chance to do more. I thought that making more movies was a good thing. Especially if you do it well and they make money, but this obsession with not making more ticks me off. They starved the fans for material and fed them rotten apples. Then you watch X1 and X2 and you feel sad, not only because the characters are done better and the plots work and because they're onto something good, but also because you have this bad feeling down inside that this is all there is, that there probably won't be anymore.

ntcrawler said:Excellent analogy! Though if FOX's thinking is prevalent you'd end up with a Hormione or Snape "spinoff"
Like I said before, the Phoenix saga just like other chars has elements which are fundamental to the story and therefore sacred. If you mess them up, you mess up the story. Just as Prof X is bald and in a wheelchair, so does Scott have a visor, Jean red hair, and Wolverine claws. If you take that away, it's no longer X-Men. And for that same reason, so is the relationship between Scott and Jean, fundamental to the Phoenix saga.
A good analogy would be Romeo and Juliet. Except in FOX's version, Juliet kills Romeo during the balcony scene (backstabs him while they're kissing cause he's a Capulet after all), and afterwards Mercutio steps up to the plate to take Romeo's place and kills Jean but himself survives.
Or better yet, do a Hormione spillover.
Here's what I think is going to happen. For X4, you'd see a Gambit teaser poster wearing his uniform. And then later in the movie find out that it's just a poster that a char manipped on their computer screen
DarknessOfDeath said:well if I had time, I would have made it look like he had his hand on one of her breasts. but needless to say...i don't think thats needed. Save that for an erotic scene in Dod's Fan fic/script.
triplefive said:Okay, who cares who's to blame? Cyclops dying was BS, but the collective rabble of a couple hundred internet fans isn't going to do squat unless any one of us is carrying a hundred mil in his or her back pocket.
