Look at your sig block. There is no excuse for bad writing :) I am taking that to heart and want to do a good job :)

A while back someone suggested that Cyclops can use his optic beams to push up against the ground and use that to slow his fall. Would that work?

I'm a bit rusty - but isn't that how he and Alex survived the plain crash?

i think that would work.

Would that end up leaving a crater of lose dirt and rubble where Cyclops comes down? Or can he leave the ground unaffected and usi his optic beams to push off against the ground without causing damage?

I'd say dirt.

I loved watching the bonus features in the X-men 1.5 because we get too see the cast being silly, and James was always really funny. Like, in the production scrapbook, he was halarious. I don't think we'll get that in the X3 dvd.

I'm sure I've seen him do it in either the cartoon or the comics.
When he was coming down, he was at an angle so that he landed close to the hole he created.

Hey gang, I need your help and expert advise for my fanfic project. I'm reworking the Alcatraz battle to include Cyclops. He won't show up at the last second out of nowhere but will arrive with the rest of the team in the X-Jet. Bruised and beat up with a cracked rib or two from his less than pleasant reunion at Alkali Lake, but very much alive and very much determined to kick some magnetic butt and help clean up the mess.

I need to figure out an entrance for the guy. Wolverine uses his claws to slow down, Iceman and Kitty do a phase-jump through the ground, Storm flies, and Beast does some fancy acrobatics. But what would be the most realistic and effective way for Cyclops to get down there? Any suggestions?

the simplest solution is to ignore that x3 happened at all .. it makes for better writing hahahaha

THat's for another project I'm working on. But for this one I'm determined to salvage and clean-up X3. Do it in a way that solves the 20 plot holes left open and portrays the chars with dignity and their missing strengths. And one of those elements is Cyke takes part in the Alcatraz battle and does what he does best. So help me out here and help make me make him, look good!

:)

i thought cyclops' death would ruin x3 for me.. turns out that was just part of it.. hahaha but keeping x3 intact i did write a very short story, that would've been an added scene in x3 to flush out cyke's role a lil bit

I agree! It took away the movie's credibility. Not the fact that he "died", but implying that it was Jean who offed him like that. Which at the same time ruined her chances of surviving and being redeemed too, but that's a different story.

Oh, and I read your story. very very cute! :)

thanks, i just couldn't believe that the stupid writers would let jean ask scott to take off his glasses and then all of a sudden take it off with out any sort of reservations.. but yeah .. i take my frustrations out about the films into my own little stories.. it helps but not really hahaa

That scene could work, but it has to be longer than the 90 seconds they are together!!! More supporting and tender dialogue, especially the part about convincing him to take off his glasses. A gentle, reassuring caress, words to ease his fears, etc. These people just do not know how to do romantic or love scenes. Not only are things rushed but the end looks like the camera suddenly ran out of film. they didn't even have time to savor a kiss!!

Jean: "Scott! Hurry! Kiss me! The scene will be over in 20 seconds and you're gonna be dead for the rest of the movie!"

Writing your own stories is great. It's like a Quantum Leap episode, leaping into their bodies to give them a 2nd chance to clean up this mess

if Angel and Rogue did go to the final battle, then their entrance could be Angel flying down with Cyclops and Rogue hanging on to him on each side.

Rogue will most definitely be there. But Unless someone can give me a really good reason to, I'm having Angel sit this one out. For one thing, if we go by the X3 version of Angel, he's hardly an X-man or trained to fight. Besides, someone has to watch the mansion along with Kurt. I mean, in X2 the place was sacked by a military unit, and now they want to leave a house full of kids with no one to watch over them? Not very smart!

My order of exiting the X-Jet and coming into the battle is like this: First Storm, who flies out and does her tidal wave thing, then Wolverine who does his slow-down trick with this claws, followed by Shadowcat and Iceman who do their combined phase bounce trick, then Beast who brings Rogue down Tarzan-style with her holding on for dear life, and last but not least, Cyclops. He's the leader so it's only fair. Now he needs some way to get down to the surface. If he can fire his optic blasts in a wide enough arc, I can see that as being able to slow down his descent. Granted, he must have pretty strong neck muscles because the whiplash from that would be a killer, haha. I suppose I could just have him rush down the stairs and vault over the railings to speed things up, and probably get a comment from Wolverine like "You call that an entrance, fearless leader?" or something like that :)

I just finished watching X1 a few minutes ago that included the deleted footage as well.

Needless to say I wish all of these scenes had stayed in the movie.

Cyclops- Logan, if we do this, we do it as a team. Are you going to have a problem taking orders?

Logan- I don't know. Give me one.

Cyclops- Put this uniform on.

Logan- Whose is it?

Cyclops- ::Smiles:: One of mine.

Damn, why did Fox have to edit out the great scenes involving Cyclops? How about the interesting scenes that sshow Storms motherly concern to Rogue?

Or when Scott is teaching class to the students and holds hands with Jean(thus confirming their relationship as if it wasn't obvious).

The more I think about X3, the more I hate Fox and the more I hate the hardcore defenders who claim it to be the best thing ever. :down

Why couldn't they be reincorporated into the movie? Why do we have to settle for grainy, jumpy footage on a separate part of the disc when those scenes work so well with the film! They certainly don't contradict much, except what happens in X3 anyways (are we really concerned about that???), so it's not like you could punish a prequel for retroactively contradicting a film that comes after it.

All these scenes involving Cyclops are the ones showing him being more assertive and having balls.

I think the only problem with this scene was that they were dressed way too nicely to be doing auto-shop. You don't wear designer slacks and turtlenecks when you intend to get down and dirty with a motorcycle. but otherwise the way the relationship is depicted is dead on. The look on Logan's face when he sees that interesting. Really shows his stubborness to try and go after Jean in spite of obvious evidence that she's already taken.

Another scene i thought made a big difference is the extended bedroom scene, especially the part where Jean stands up for Scott again and points out that for a person who can blow a hole in a mountain, control is a GOOD thing, and how dare Logan imply that she's being held back.

Well, it had more explosions and special effects :ghost:

So help me, and other fans, make X3 better! :D

I didn't think the other two movies did a very good job showing there love. It put Cyclops in a negative light and focused heavily on Wolverine/Jean. He wasn't even a secondary character in X2 and X3 followed suit. The fact that he was the first person Jean contacted in X3 and how happy she looked when she hugged him shed more light into their relationship than a deleted hand holding scene in X1.

Here you go Cyclops fans
