They may have the talent but they don't behave like professional critics.
They (at a time) used to used flash animation to get their reviews out to a "younger" crowd that probably has no time to read and their "reviews" come across as just a bunch of guys hanging out making jokes about liking or not liking a film.

When compared to some of the great movie critics I'd say they bay comparison is valid.

they're not trying to be great movie critics.... and the whole point is that yes they ARE just a couple of guys hanging out and making jokes.

still tho.. all their criticisms are pretty spot on to what the "great" movie critics are saying.

same could be said about this movie
Why does a movie about a intergalctic war between living machines with Earth caught in the middle have to be stupid like jackass?

The cartoon didn't have much depth but it didn't have sex or adult humor either. Why not add a little depth if you can add sex and adult humor?

Or at least title characters you care about. Kids cried when Optimus died in the animated movie. No kid gave a crap when he died in Bayformers. What happened?

 you're preachin to the choir lol

Well Jackass is suppose to be a comedy people apparently think TF movies should be serious movies with little humor. Though how serious do people expect a TF movie to be is beyond me. The humor in Bays movies are pretty much on par with Jackass in my book. Both are childish and immature. Both have sex jokes, nut shots, men in thongs etc.

My friend who is pretty much like the TF purist hated TF 1 and 2. For some reason beyond me he went and saw DOTM. To my utter shock and surprise ge didn't totally hate/ loath it. He said he actually liked it even with it's flaws. He still hopes for a reboot though. But the pretty much shocked me when he said he like it. That's crazy to me because he is a Hardcore Bayformer hater. He use to post here on this site but got permanently banned for offensive comments towards people who liked these movies. Since then he has apologized but is still banned.

People who hated the first two movies still saw the third one. That makes sense.

Wow this movie is soooo SLOPPY!!!

Not as bad as ROTF but it's close.

No name Decepticons were all over the place.

Visuals were great but there really is no point. When robots die...NO ONE in the audience CARES.

Some jokes were funny BUT a lot of human fillers that are not needed.

Some of my friends didn't even know that Starscream was in it because character development on robots SUCKS!!

And WTF is up with Megatron??? Michael Bay really messed up his character.

The Patrick Dempsey twist was good BUT there are so many "meh" moments.

Transformers 1 is still the BEST. No Trilogy for me. It starts and ends with the first Transformers film.

I agree they are not "professional critics" but they have never claimed to be. But I don't agree with that Bay comparison because they still offer valid criticisms. They don't just make fun of a movie the entire review. They basically 'shoot the s**t' while reviewing at the same time.

Their animated reviews don't necessarily try to attract younger crowds; its just a gimmick if you will to try and be different from many other sites that review movies. Just a way to say if you like what you see then check out all the other things they have to offer.

you sure about either of those points?

like I said, it's ironic.

Professional critics? Watching movies is not a job. It's a passtime.

Movie was beautiful. Honestly feel like I can die happy now. 10/10

The last hour was some of the most breathtaking cinema I have ever seen.

since we're on the subject of the young audience,
thought I would help this kid get some views, he seemed to like it.

the video needs some editing though, it's almost as long as the movie.:o

Yes but their job is to inform you of what they thought of the movie. It's anybody's choice to find someone that share similar opinions to their own and listen to whether they should spend their money on it. You don't have to listen to them but its just a resource to decide if a movie is worth your time and money.

I know. I just have no respect for people who criticise others who actually work for a living.

^Most of the critics you see on RT or Metacritic are professional writers that have other work and write about other things. They don't just watch movies and review them; most of them are journalists.

I worked as a film critic for five years in my life so you can **** off :o:oldrazz::woot: But seriously, pretty great job, but didn't pay enough, so alas, I now am a cameraman for the local news station. Much more boring, but so much more $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Its art. Art is made for two things: to express yourself and for people to enjoy/discuss it. Criticizing something is just a form of discussing it. And I have worked many other jobs, so please don't say I don't work for a living. This **** you is not as jokingly as my first post.

I take it back.

They're better than lawyers and politicians, at least. :woot:

Haha, this kid loves it.

And he is SHOCKED by it as well.

Whatever, its all good. I apologize for the harsh words, I just felt a little insulted. You just have to keep in mind that most of these people do more whether it be in the film industry or something to do with journalism and if not, its not like they are judging the people themselves. They are discussing their opinions on said work of art(whether it be a film, album, show) just like everyone else does. These people get payed to do it because NORMALLY(there are exceptions) they have a degree in whatever field they are reviewing so it is ASSUMED(again not always the case) they know more about the field then the average person. For example, when it comes to film ASTHETICS( Mis-en-scene, Cinematography, Editing) most critics know much more about what they are talking about then the average person. As far as whether they liked the plot or whatever, they don't really have any extra insight then anyone else and, sadly, a lot of film reviews have turned into simple plot reviews. Also, some people are very critical, but criticism is really a good thing. Example, coaches are critical on their players to make them better. There is not supposed to be, and hardly ever is, personal matters involved in professional criticism. I can think of a few cases where my coworker( a critic of plays) always gave rough reviews to one director's work because he was always a total dick to him. However, that is the exception. In fact, I know people who have given some pretty rough reviews films worked on by some of their close friends. There normally is no harm meant by it.
