Megatron : "You're either lying or you're stupid!"
Starscream : "I'm stupid, I'm stupid!"

Brilliant! I would have loved to see the Bay haters moan and groan about those lines had they been uttered in the movie, because you know they would.
Haha, you guys are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

I guess back in the late 90's you were quoting corny Bat-mite lines to defend Batman and Robin.

I'm not sure what you mean. Season 2 had lot's of new characters.

Im totally cool with them adding season 2 characters. I just think if they go the Galvatron route then Hot Rod and Ultra Magnus should be introduced.

Thats basically what was done......

Sure, they just dont get screen time. Im just backing up G1 for source material. Dont mind the designs of most the bots and I think we are very lucky to have Cullen.

Definitely. Would like to see Prowl one of these days. Guess they couldnt use him cause of the similarities to Baricade.

Apparently Prowl was originally going to be in the first movie, but Bay and the writers liked the idea of having a Decepticon be a police car. I don't mind since Barricade was pretty cool.

I'd like to see Tracks. He's always been one of my favourites.

SO were Bay's Transformers films. And just because a G1 based game was CRITICALLY successful, doesn't mean a G1 based movie would be. Just look at all the ****** video game based movies. Face it, the source material just isn't that great. I love the shows and I enjoy the movies, but neither are great works of art. They are both pretty bad, but very entertaining.
The G1 comics and tv series could be easily enhanced to be compelling sci-fi. Just add some Ghost in the Shell and cyberpunk elements to advance the mythos. Replace the fuddy duddy comedy and human cheese for some genuine moral conflicts faced by developed Transformer personalities and suddenly the audience cares if Autobots succeed and the story isn't just some forgettable nonsense.

Yes it's simply a matter of taking the stronger element of G1 and building upon them. The first Pirates of the Caribbean movie is highly regarded and it's based on theme park ride. Surely you can draw from hundreds of G1 comics and tv episodes and improve the details/depth.

Yeah Brricade was awesome. I think he was in DOTM real quick in the end. Couldnt tell for sure. They really do have alot of bots to choose from. Your right that Hot Rod and Ultra Magnus should be added their roles are much larger in the grand scheme of things. If they plan on following new bots somewhat.

Barricade was with Soundwave when they executed Que.

The i thing I'd really want is that Hot Rod never, ever, becomes Rodimus.

I think there's one great director choice who has also had many of his films produced by Steven Speilberg: Robert Zemeckis!

Back to the Future Trilogy + Forest Gump + Roger Rabbit: comedy, story-telling, SFX

Contact: serious tone, story-telling, "alien"

Polar Express + Beowulf + Christmas Carol: 3D-films (CGI)

Spielberg can just do it himself.

He obviously could.. but he didn't want to direct it from the begining, so I doubt he'd want to try and follow up a guy that he just finished hiring and working with. He's too big for that. He's going to hire a new director and simply produce again.

A Spielberg Transformers would be about Bumblebee alone on earth, befriends Sam and fights the CIA/FBI and a Decepticon con or two.

Sequel Hook... Optimus, Megatron and the rest land on earth.
Spielberg hands the film to Peter Jackson so he can make Robot LOTR

And a good thought it was. A more action packed ET: The Extraterrestrial.
Hell Speilberg's original pitch for Transformers was a Boy and His Car i.e. A Boy and his alien (ET)

Sure they could, but thats still changing things. I never said there wasn't potential in the source material. I simply stated the source material isn't that good. I'm more focused on those (few by the way, I realize this in't the majority) who honestly believe a 100% adaption of G1 would be any better than what we got. Yes, I've said Bay's films aren't very good, I agree they could have adapted the original material in a different way and it could have been better, but straight adapting a kids show into a live action Pg-13 film(again, you've made your point you don't want a straight adaption, so not directed at you) would be just as cheesy and dumb as the Bay films. Like the Bay films, I would probably still enjoy them, but they would be pretty bad movies. Also like the Bay films, they probably would have made plenty of money and made plenty of critics fall asleep. I get your argument and I agree the better aspects of G1 could have been developed into a pretty good film. What I don't get is the people(for a third time, I know its a small minority) who honestly think a straight G1 adaption would be any better than Bay's films.

Also, I agree the Bots don't get enough screen-time, but for whatever reason, Hollywood is afraid to make live-action films that don't have a focus on humans, so I'm not entirely sure this one would have been avoided with a different interpretation of the G1 series.

It's absurd to focus on humans in a film about a robot race fighting across the stars.

And ***** and whine all you want about the TV show Chaseter, the characters came from that origin. It'd be inexcusable to have a fearful Optimus Prime or a pathetic Starscream.

While Bay didn't screw up Prime (making him the fearless, wise, compassionate, asskicking leader we all know and love), Bay didn't give a flying f**k about Starscream (butchered his character completely), Shockwave, Soundwave, The Fallen (Really?...), Megatron (to an extent), Barricade, Jazz, Arcee, etc.

In my opinion, he just dropped names and made them disappear for 80% of the film. Who the hell does that?

I enjoyed this the most of the three. Is it great? No. Like the last two, the human dramedy makes it drag. It's also about 30 minutes too long, and Bay still makes movies exclusively for the all-American male. But at this point, if you don't know what to expect from a Bayformers movie, you're either new or a glutton for punishment. I'm neither, so I got what I wanted...giant robots, explosions, and sci-fi absurdity. An uninterrupted hour of it, in fact. The rest was worth it to see a stereoscopic fantasy that falls just a few notches short of Avatar.

Most of the loose ends were tied up (abruptly), but I didn't feel like this was "The End." If Paramount wants to make another, though, it's going to be very hard. Outside of introducing Unicron to revive all the villains, there aren't enough big names left to work with.

Bay depended on idiotic humor, explosions and humans because he didn't have the talent to make a film that solely focused on robots. He can't -- Bay isn't a director that can summon an original idea or establish proper character development in a film.

Bay is Bay, I know what to expect from his films. The only thing that kept me going was Optimus Prime in this trilogy.

I really don't see how a fourth film can exist without a reboot. I want Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, etc to be represented the right way. And please, no more Shia or Tyrese. Stick purely to the robots.

I was actually bored during the end of the movie. After God knows how long of constant explosions and such, I stopped caring. Then the movie just ended. Two minutes of "inspiring philosophy" from Optimus and then the screen goes black. Never have I seen a writer more clearly have no idea how to end a movie.
