The moment I say that Laserbeak had dialogue so that is one of the reasons this movie sucks then you can skewer me over an open flame all you want.
It's fine to have legit complaints. I have yet to see the movie so I can't directly comment on all of your script complaints. But, when someone starts whining about a faceplate on Optimus, Laserbeak talking, Bumblebee not speaking, etc. then imo it's nothing more than purist fanboy dribble.
Is that what was said? And even if it was said, your right to overall think a movie stinks for that one little factor is wrong. BUT thats' how some people are
and i havent seen the movie yet myself and i havent complained, but it's already known who gonna like the movie and who may not and whose gonna have a problem with the ones who dont like the movie...
again this a general reaction of being a fan...and...they are no more right then you are, and its there problem if they have little issues, not yours.
this is the THIRD FRAKKIN MOVIE. The first two didnt follow G1 closely...why would you expect this one to. Would I have a legitimite beef if I blast TDKR because Bale's Batman didnt act like Adam West's...even though he didnt act that way in the previous movies???
and like others have pointed out, because of the lack of focus on certain aspect of the TF universe so to speak, part of these movies have been less then entertaining..again you are belly aching because someone didnt like certain aspect of the movie
so do you get upset everytime someone doesnt like, or complain about something you like? Did you like the movie? I'm sure you did, is it gonna make crazy money, yup it sure will, will you go see it again, and probably buy it on DVD. Yup u probably will. Will this be considered a success to the studios from a money stand point, yup it sure will and thats the bottom line for them and any chance of making more TF movies..so you should be happy!
Seen it, slept on it, have mixed feelings about it.
The good
-Amazing Action, and amazing looking 3D action. Combine the two and you have some of the most amazing immersive action ever put to screen.
The Highway Scene, The Wing suit scene, Building scene, and the Bridge fight all stand out as gems for me.
The intro 20 minutes, very, very good. The mix of revisionist history of both Cybertron and America has always been this series strongest story work.
Shia, though he was a little obnoxious even if for a character in a frustrated place in his life, he really communicated his frustration and conflicts well. He simply had more to do emotionally. His girlfriend was in a bad place, based on his decision making and he had to save her. He's a stubborn man, always has been and it ties into his resilience well. His decision to take down star scream was a good completion of his ark, especially in lieu of his boss asking him what he has to offer.
Rosie really works, acting and thematic role. Her big moment at the end seemed a little rushed though. Her and dylan should have had more time to develop a dynamic, and she should have spoken to a robot maybe more than once before the fact.I do wonder what fox would have brought to the role they obviously wrote with her in mind. Her and Mags have history.
The Exile Scene, though I think it needed some more pathos padding and set up, the music and direction was on point. It was pretty much the crux of the entire series and it was played pretty great. I loved the attitude Optimus "delivered." The problem with this scene outside of the trailers pretty much working against it's impact, was the fact that we really spent dick all time with these bots especially bee up to this point so it didn't work the way it would have say if it was placed in the first film. Sam already said good bye to bee as far as I'm concerned.
-Dutch, maybe the most wildly absurd character in the series but bay used him better than any of the other comedic humans.
-They finally made Brains and Wheelie work! From a kids point of view these are the types of characters that really matter in these types of films. They weren't crass and they did the best they could with their limited skills. The exile scene really worked for them and their big payoff moment didn't take anything away from the plot like the twins did. In fact it helped. Wheelie reminds me of rat trap in beast machines.
-The Parents were the most additive they've ever been.
-I liked the black air force group Tyreese lead.
The Bad
Plotting
Even though the story was probably the strongest the series has ever had, the plotting really worked against the film. I've always loved the set up portions in these movies, Sam finding his car and struggling with school and bullies in the first was lovely. Most people even say the first half of TF2 is pretty good. But golly that post intro, 90mins of this film needed to be cut. Save for the action bits. when you're in the film and you don't know where it's going, it actually kinda works. But when it's all said and done, I really feel like they should have kept the momentum of the intro going, by way of plotting. The bots needed more time with the audience, like in the first with Bee. Replace the job stuff with bot talk and we really would have been golden.
Running time
I was one of the few that jumped for joy when I heard the rumor that the film was going to be around 100mins. Films a little long and it's obvious what needed to be cut.
The WorldWhat a strange world this film is, everywhere Sam goes he encounters psychopaths. His teachers, bosses, the cops. It's so strange and at first it's pretty endearing. But by the third film it's grown tiresome. Sam's interview process added to the story but him working for "Bruce" needed to go, and the film wouldn't have lost a thing. Anyone that calls Wang racist really needs to give it a rest though. First they need to watch the hangover and realize that they never had a problem him before, and then they need to ask themselves why only white actors can play silly characters. Ken really worked the crowed over, but some of his shtick has gown tired at this point, like a lot of things, it would have been better in the first. I think it's interesting that bay would never make his military characters one of these nut jobs, which is why they are probably always so forgettable.
I miss the Optimus from the first film. He had stuff to do and stuff to say. He lead his team and he really made the difference. It's all here in this film but it's a lot flatter than before. It might be for lack of his Sam scenes but he just felt like a fixture with new unexplained tech. His action has never been better though. You get the sense that these really are warriors. I get the feeling some of the violent smut he was shouting throughout the film was supposed to play off our emotions towards the bad guys but it also felt kinda misplaced. His bridge scene was crazy though, it really conveyed that he's been though it all, I think his last act was out of frustration to giving people second chances.
The Final battle needed even more cohesion than it already had. Don't get me wrong this was not TF2, it was very singular, but the bots were so in and out it was kind of daunting. Bee saves them then goes somewhere else. This is partly due to the action being set in a full city, but the first one handled this better. Bee really needs a better reason to leave his best friend alone. Kinda like Optimus had. Sadly unlike the first film, a few of the action bits had a disconnect for me. Not as bad as Battle LA/Sucker Punch, but at times I was just watching action, however amazing it was.
Drones, I miss the cons of the first film. Objectively speaking it just added something. It's cool that the bad guys had plans and inner workings, politics, all the things a fan boy could ask for, but I just can't stand drones.
Shockwave was a glorified blackout, which worked fine for blackout. But even if Shockwave was a heavy a line or two translated would have gone a long way. He really should have been on the bridge at the end for some [BLACKOUT]two on two action.[/BLACKOUT]
All in all. I'd give it a 6.5 bumped up to a 7 for the highway situation in it's entirety. This really should have been the second film. My audience applauded at the end. As much as people say the hated the second, they really need to put this film in perspective when they trash it. But then again it might take bay making another bad sequel for people to finally appreciate this one too.
Sentinel was a great twist, my audience really ate it up. Same with Dylan.
Bay really should have went all the way with bee. I was honestly hoping he would die at the point. They're going to reboot anyways.
I rank em,
First
Third
Second
this has never happened within the adaptation genre. It's usually in the third when they drop the ball
I didnt say you were, i dont wait for someone to address me. It's a free forum, i comment on things i want to comment on. Just like you do. Not attacking anyone, but i think is lopsided when others attack other posters for "complaining". That bothers me just as much as "complainers" bother you.
if so that's not good, i'm taken my godchildren and i dont need them being bored, because they will start running around...and i'm not gonna chase them! ha ha
Is that what was said? And even if it was said, your right to overall think a movie stinks for that one little factor is wrong. BUT thats' how some people are

no one is saying that anyone's opinion is right or wrong. However to call a movie crap because a character doesnt behave in a way from the comics/cartoons IMO is not a legitimite complaint....especially after two movies that didnt follow G1 closely
and like others have pointed out, because of the lack of focus on certain aspect of the TF universe so to speak, part of these movies have been less then entertaining..again you are belly aching because someone didnt like certain aspect of the movie

I feel as if you arent even reading posts you are just here to argue.
here is what I said: If you didnt like the movie thats fine.....the movie has flaws.....however to complain because something isnt strictly G1 IMO is not a legitimite complaint.
I dont require everyone to like what I like.

and this is where we have our problem...no one is attacking anyone for not liking the movie....however the issue people had was someone who didnt see the movie reacted negatively to someone mentioning that Lazerbeak spoke.
I feel as if you arent even reading posts you are just here to argue.

i think you dont read my post...i said "some people are gonna be fans of certain genre of the TF universe..." talking strictly about want you put in bold...i mean i couldnt be more clearer..point blank.
Hi all. I am a big TF fan of the cartoon and the movies (hated TF 2 though). I haven't seen dark of the moon yet (seeing it Friday) but my two of my friend saw it last night. They said it was a huge improvement on ROTF. They say it still has some problems like some of the jokes are corny, character development was hit and miss, some acting was meh etc but it was still an enjoyable action flick.
They said it was on par with or better than TF1. They gave it a 3 out of 5 stars.
I read the novel so I know most of the spoilers of the movie. Its kind of sad that critics bash this movie solely because of their hatred of Bay. I heard the last hour of this movie is crazy! So I know I will have a big smile on my face come Friday night.
I understand some people don't like these movies and thats fine. I been lurking these boards since the first movie came out and most of the complains I read were fanboy nitpicking because they felt the characters were'nt 100 percent G1 accurate. I like the cartoon but its FAR from perfect and overly simplistic nothing more than 30 mins toy commericals.
As I read some of the complaints now some are legit and most are just fanboy nitpicking yet again. And it makes me wonder if you hated the first two movies and Bay why go see this in the first place? To this day I have never gotten a decent response from haters when I ask them this question. Someone enlighten me?
Ok what a movie, definitely a fun action packed movie and dark as Bay mentioned since I was shocked at some Deceps killing civilians during the battle and why is it that Optimus Prime shows up till the very end in all these movies but it doesn't matter whenever he does appear it's all a raucous SFX extravaganza.
For al those whiners that complained of the potty humor in TFROTF it's very minimal this time around and while the Autobot twins aren't in this one a couple of the Wreckers sounded sort of ghetto for any sensitive people out there so lighten up.
The problem with Mikaela's absense I think was handled very poorly after all the crap Sam and her went through in the last two movies they could've at least acknowledged her by name but I didn't care much for Carly she was basically a blond version of Mikaela.
Leonard Nimoy as Sentinal Prime was an excellent nod to the 1986 TF The Movie and there were other stuff taken from the G1 cartoon [blackout]such as how the Autobots fooled everyone into thinking their shuttle exploded.[/blackout]
I was only saddened that this might be the last films directed by Michael Bay but it ended the trilogy nicely and Optimus going all badass during the fight was awesome, I saw the post credit scene with Simmons but was there one at the very end? I didn't stay till the end.
I'd give this one 5 out of 5 stars, best movie of the summer.
And look, I'm not even trying to say the film is perfect in every way, but I'm always going to argue the stuff that I honestly believe is just fanboy nitpicking. Complaining about Lazerbeak having dialogue? Quit your b****in'!
Why do the humans have to be featured so much?!?! BECAUSE IT'S THEIR FREAKIN' PLANET!!!! Earth has almost seven billion people on it,the idea that the Transformers would be more prominently featured is ridiculous when measured against the aforementioned abundance of human beings on the planet Earth and the logical sense it genuinely makes for human characters to be as involved as they are in the films, and the budgetary restraints of showing a whole rack of robots for more screen time than we already got them for, to say nothing of the quality action we did get from them, and a few genuine moments of character interaction.
That's the one that kills me, because the whole point of Transformers was that they came to OUR PLANET, disguised themselves as OUR VEHICLES, and had this big old war, but most if not all of their fights would just happen in random deserts and areas of wilderness. THAT WOULD NOT MAKE FOR A GOOD MOVIE!!!
if so that's not good, i'm taken my godchildren and i dont need them being bored, because they will start running around...and i'm not gonna chase them! ha ha
Is it somewhere in the story that Transformers are not allowed to care much when one of them gets killed? [BLACKOUT]I mean Ironhide gets totally destroyed and not one Autobot mentions this. Not even Optimus who's supposed to be his oldest friend.[/BLACKOUT]
That's an interesting point, do we as an audience need a character to mourn or cry over someone before we care or feel it. My personally no, I'd consider that manipulation, if you cared then you will care and that's all that matters, but it would go along way for character development.

I know what you mean I'm a die hard G1 fan too and while I don't hate TFROTF I do think the battle in Egypt goes far too long but I love action movies anyway so I still enjoyed TF2.
And people complaining about the movie having no plot, there was a plot you stupids!!
I really enjoyed this movie.
Positives:
Spectacular special effects!
A movie in 3-D that's actually worth it!
The fact that the humans were involved more.
The story wasn't everywhere, it was pretty simple, unlike the second one.
The action.
Shia and Rosie, I surprisingly enjoyed the two.
Negatives
Running time, could have been a half hour short imo.
Script (but this is a blockbuster now...)
Ending-from the hour long final battle, it just ends. It's always been one of Bay's weaknesses, he just doesn't know how to end movies properly.
Verdict:
All in all, if one is going in hoping to be entertained by a blockbuster, this will indeed succeed in that. If one is looking for an action movie with a strong script and character development, this is not the movie for you. Transformers: Dark of the Moon allows one to go to the movie theatre, and just watch and let the mind free while in the movie. One mustn't think too much, but simply relax and enjoy. The third installment is loud and noisy, but it is Transformers...and as a action buff, it's an epic finale to the series, and visually, one will be knocked off their feet.
can't tell if you're joking, but I meant I waited till to day to post my thoughts.

That's all I'm saying though. It would add some development to the robots if they actually showed some emotion towards one another. I think t would have added some more drama to the last fight if Optimus made it a point to avenge his friend.
no, i was asking if you fell asleep at the theaters, i was laughin at me saying i wont be chasing my little godchildren around if they get bored with the movie..
if so that's not good, i'm taken my godchildren and i dont need them being bored, because they will start running around...and i'm not gonna chase them! ha ha
anybody else notice how they magically got off the toppling building?...it literally just cut to them running in the streets. even tho it was clearly established that the decepticon had also destroyed the bottom half of the building, which should have easily fallen after it had nothing holding it up lol
and i cant believe no ones mentioned the cringeworthy scene where the blonde calls megatron a b----....
i actually liked the laserbeak and shockwave characters, they werent just background noise like the other boss, and shockwave felt like a cool boss...especially how it took every character in the movie to kill him.
Haters complain about the humans in these movies. I sort of get that complain but they have to understand the general movie going audience may not have the bond they have with the TF characters. The humans are needed to give audiences someone to relate to. Could the humans roles been cut down in the Bay movies? Sure, but a movie where CGI robots have majority of the screen time would be a waste of money for studios. If they did that the movie should just stay animated. And other thing if these movies so called raped your childhood memories of TF and you lost interest in the franchise because of the movies, you were not a real fan to begin with. I disliked Superman Returns and some seasons of Smallville but I didn't stop liking Superman. Same goes with Spider-Man 3, I love Spidey but I did'nt let one movie ruin my love for the character.
Also what was so horrible about TF 1 and Dark of the Moon? I certainly did not go into these movies expecting an Inception type plot so I was not disspointed in the least. I watch this movies to be entertained and see robots fight. And in my eyes they serve their purpose (well TF 2 was horrible so I will not mention that one).
I understand Bay's TF movies are not the greatest and they have issues but most people (besides diehard TF fans and Critics) love the movies. The Bay movies made me a TF fan really. Even if some fans hate the movies is'nt it a good thing that the movies brought in new fans? Which means new interest in the franchise and that means new toys, cartoons, video games, comics, books, etc. That is a win in my book if your a TF fan reguardless if you like Bay's movies or not.

lmao thats so true.. and i love how everyone is saying they included human characters to relate to the audience... what human characters!? these are criminally insane people.
No offense to Transformer cartoon fans(I'm one of them), but its pretty childish to act like directly adapting the show to the big screen would make better movies than the actual movies. Its not like a lot of superhero comic book adaptions, where most comic books actually have well written stories with well written characters. The Transformers shows are pretty childish writing. Yes they are widely entertaining, but a direct adaption would have been just as cheesy as the franchise Bay gave us. This movie was widely entertaining, despite it being terribly dumb. Its a great mindless action flick. Its not a work of art, but then again, I go to Transformers to see robots kill each other, not to see well written stories. Its been like that since I was a kid.
