So did anybody think the thing to happen to Sentinal was kind of lame? I mean I didn't see it coming, but it seemed forced to me. It didn't seem natural. Maybe if I give it more thought, but when it happened, I kind of thought it was weak. At that point really, the movie was pretty much a mess. Way too much stuff all at once was going on.

I felt it was rushed.
Though I appreciate how tricky it must be to reshoot and edit with such expensive assets.

There were a number of lame things in this film, but yeah...That was odd.

I mean, if he made a deal with the Decepticons why did they shoot down his ship?

HAHA was Doctor Jones too atlantic in his other post!?

He is talking about Sentinel's turn to the dark side I believe.

lol

I figured as much

IMO Sentinel was determined to restore Cybertron by any means necessary he said so himself "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." He was willing to betray the very code he had once instructed to Optimus when he was his mentor "freedom is the right of all sentient beings".

you are pardoned:yay:

I said both Bayformers and G1, misses out on aspects that would make them both amazing sci-fi.
Are you going to argue that G1 is the best sci-fi it could possibly be?
I hope so.

well being that it was a cartoon (G1) i dont see how anyone would look at it as a amazing sci-fi. It was a cartoon, i wouldnt call it amazing ( wouldnt call any cartoon amazing), but i would call it a pretty good cartoon for all it was worth at the time, and u cant argue that it wasnt because they tried to turn it into a live-action film

and i wont be arguing that the G1 series is the best sci-fi because it's not. But because it's not, doesnt mean you should produce a "bland" live-action movie either

and i put up plenty of quotes from the cheesey cartoon-movie that surpassed anything written in these films.

ps:

If you like..i could argue the character development is better in the cartoons then in the movie if you like?

hollow film making and character work at it's very best:whatever:

Really!!? Really...so the mass at hollywood was like "emmm lets make a movie to help toy sales, or lets make a movie because the toy sales were so great"

not buying it....

no toys turned it into a cartoon, and comic originally from japan (i think)

everything you know and they (hollywood) know about the genre is from the cartoons, comics and toys...

Uh yeah. You think Hollywood is some Indie film studio where quality comes first? I don't think my vision of Hollywood is the incorrect one.

You think Sony is making this new Spider-Man flick because they love Spider-Man? Or are they doing it for the money? Do you think WB made Green Lantern to make a crap ton in merchandising or with the hopes to make an amazing Green Lantern movie?

They looked at Transformers and a light bulb lit up in someone's head and they said look at how much Hasbro has made in toy sales. It's a gold mine. Lets do a movie. Or, did they say wow, Transformers has such a rich and expansive universe that transcends decades. I think we should do a live action movie that brings to life these amazing characters. Rofl come on.

Like I said, before one goes saying this could have been amazing sci-fi, they need to appreciate the source material also could have been.

Of the quotes you put up, that weren't silly most appeared in the film and the others were surpassed imo.

hollow film making and character work at it's very best:whatever:

Bay is not a story telling director, All he cares about is

1. Massive Explosions

2. Cars chases

3. Hot woman (ass shots, Cleavage shots, Sexy shots)

4. Sex and bad humour

Watch his films and you'll see those for points with swearing attached to it.

I'm not understanding ..."what could of been" what do you mean by that?

and your second part, i dont understand. I just put a few quotes, that were written in the cartoon that was cheesy and not that great but still was written better then this live action movie. The robots had better lines..that was my point, are u agruing different?

I mean both of them aren't great sci-fi, that's all.

I'm arguing that the robots had similar lines in bayformers.
and that the lines themselves are corny and nothing special.

This is just something I noticed. I don't really mean to go on a rant here but it's just something I wanted to get off my chest. Now Avatar got a free pass from critics, general audiences, and fanboys solely because it had great 3D and visual effects and it was made by James Camron. The plot was a predictable borefest. Take away the 3D and visual effect and it was a pretty meh movie. (don't get me wrong I liked it but still feel it wasn't the greatest story wise).

Now I am not saying Micheal Bay is on the same level as James Camron as a filmmaker (he is not) but I think Avatar was James Camron's weakest movie. Dark of the moon may not have the greatest story, acting, or humor but the action and visuals effects are top notch. It seems the critics and fanboy trash it because its Micheal Bay and they all seem to hate him. That kinda seems unfair in my book. Not sticking up for Bay because I have seen him in some interviews and commentary being very arrogant and *****ebaggy.

I know Avatars plot didn't have plot holes or weak acting but it was boring and predictable. The story is flawed in this movie but in my opinion Sentinel's betrayal was more of a shocker than anything in Avatar's story.

Again not knocking Avatar or saying Bay is a better filmmaker than James.Just voicing my observations.

Avatar was an average flick with a plot that has been recycled... yet, Avatar still outclassed most of Bay's films in regards to everything except for explosions, hot women, car chases, etc.

I mean both of them aren't great sci-fi, that's all.

i think if you google lines from the cartoon movie and then try to google memorable lines from the film. You would get your answer

because all i had to do was google lines from the cartoon movie and got sites on top of sites of memorable movie lines....and good movie lines at that! Ones that fit the characters..(bayformers..ahh give me some lines from that movie please, because i dont recall any)

i just shake my head at what Bay has done up until this point, because The rock, bad boys were movies that were good to me. The rock was on point!

Are you serious? Please tell me you're joking. We need to take him out. Where is SEAL Team 6 when you need them?

Oh, you were serious. I thought you just got his name mixed up with Frank Welker.

Oh man, I wish I were joking but this is real. Bay even stated that he'll be staying away from the TV shows and comics for reference.

No, lol, I want both Weller and Welker in my film. I casted him as an Autobot but I think Peter would do way better as a Decepticon.

yea i wasnt a fan of Avatar not one bit, I really wonder what people were thinking going back to that movie..yucks!

I didn't hate it but I didn't enjoy it. The film had so much potential, which kind of is inexcusable considering Cameron almost had a decade to work on it.

1. The movie 2007 is 4 years old. How many sites could have possibly started up and filled it with quotes when compared with an ongoing series of 30years? That just seems kinda obtuse.

2. Secondly, it's funny how some of the same lines are used in the new movie and all of a sudden you don't care...nostalgia at it best.

3. head over to imdb quote section if you must

You're the one that is whining about the tv show. Bay ruined mah life because the Decepticons didn't drink liquid energon in the desert and get drunk.

Yes Jazz deserved more screen time. The movie was all about Jazz. I now hate X-Men First Class because Havok and Banshee were background characters in a movie focusing on Charles and Erik. Thanks for showing me the light. Every character in a movie should be the main character Bay holy ****. The man can't get anything right.

Jeez, are you still in High School? I ask because you seem to have trouble with basic reading comprehension skills.

wow..your excuses are funny.

these werent quotes that were collected over a 30 year span, it was from the movie, one movie, and you're trying to tell me with todays technology. you can put up an eye poping website in months (i know because i do them) but you cant gather any note worthy quotes from a movie over 4 years ago?? really?? MY point, if the movie had note worthy quotes the vase majority would know about them.

2. I said didnt care? and you're making my point...they were good and memorable enough that they were put into these live action film, can you say 30 years from now they will do that to these live action films???

and your third point wasnt a homework assignment, it was basically asking you if you feel these films have memorable quotes, or lines..then please by all means show me. plan and simple.

also although the TF cartoon movie wasnt to good.

Blasphemy.

I am just tired of all this fanboy purist BS. The problem with these movies aren't because Jazz didn't have a larger role. The problem with these movies are structural problems with the writing.

The problem is they go hand in hand. The movies have writing problems, and one of the biggest problems is lack of screen time for the Transformers.

I'll be the first to admit the films are silly and miss out on a crap load of potential, but I'll follow that up by saying, just like the source material.

Adam West isn't responsible for Batman, he was just a later incarnation.
Nolan should look to the original work just as the TF films should and do.
Just like Raimi did.

One could argue Adam West brought Batman to the mainstream.

Nolan looked at source material and made a good movie. Raimi looked at the source material and made a good movie. Schumacher looked at the source material and made a bad movie. Just because source material is silly doesn't mean you can't make a good movie out of it. And Batman and Spiderman are just as silly as Transformers.

With Bay gone, the franchise can finally get back to it's respective roots.

It's clear that Michael doesn't have a clue in what he is doing. I swear, I could pull off a better film with my action figures on a $1,500 budget (for usage of Peter Cullen's, Hugo Weaving's, and Peter Weller's voices).

Sure you can. :whatever::doh:

ok let's see here. if you are asking me why are there no websites with TF 2007 quotes, I'd say the answer is simple, you not looking for them. Give it a shot.

Secondly, the more time a movie has to fester in society the higher it's chances are of being considered a classic. A movie of 4 years isn't going to have the nostalgic following of a film of 30plus. Heres a question, do you think there is more websites and literature about the LOTR movies of 10 years or the Books for 50?

2. I said didnt care? and your making my point...they were good and memorable enough that they were put into these live action film, can you say 30 years from now they will do that to these live action films???

hey they did it one, they'll probably do it again:whatever:

to answer your question yes.
to throw it back in your face:

one shall stand, one shall fall

freedom is the right of all sentient beings

guess which movie those "memorable lines are from?

:pal::pal::pal::pal::pal::pal::pal::pal::pal: Maybe the concepts are just as silly, but the actual material is much more serious. Call me when you find the scene where Megatron paralyzes Sam's daughter and forces him to look at her pictures of her naked body in the G1 series.

One could argue tim burton did

The point all of these filmmakers used the conceiving material.
Secondly Nolan used the "original comics"
Bay/Berg used the "original tv series" (with designs from the original japanese material)

transformers comics weren't the original anything, so to harken to them now is missing the point.
